The stoner lolita thread mostly had pics of cute bongs and lolitas saying they wouldn't admit to being stoners vs lolitas wanting to know who to avoid buying dresses that smell like weed (or whatever) from. Apparently you can grow some of that stuff in your closet with one of those warm lights. Looking at every dorm room inspiration site the trick seems to be in soft furnishing (cute bedspread/duvet set etc) and also hanging whatever you are able to up to cover your walls, whether that's draping then in fabric or putting up a bunch of cute artwork. If you have rugs and cute mats for the floor that's also a bonus. Depending on your dorm room lighting it may be worth investing in one good floor or table lamp with a decent bulb, or if you want more light in general LED fairy lights are safe and decorative

I don't know your tastes but your room could be a cute little "hideout". Pic somewhat related in the fact that it's a small room that feels very homely and unique. It's quite difficult to manage as you need to carefully toe the line between 'tacky Victorian furniture' and 'cosy but modern' since it falls somewhere in between. If I were to look around thrift shops I'd probably mostly find the stuff that was fashionable in the 50s but looks gaudy now.

Alternative to the good ideas everyone else has said, you can put a flat piece of masking tape on the back of your poster. Then you can take another piece of tape and make a circle with it, attach one side to the wall and the other side to the masking tape on the poster. Not really a cheaper solution than anything else, though, just easy.

For the love of all things holy, get rid of those cans and soda bottles. That shit is nasty. At minimum, keep a trashcan beside your desk and just throw them all in there.
Clear all the stuff from the bed, then make it. Just having a tidy bed can make the room look better.
If you can, repaint your dresser. It looks grandmotherly. I don't into goth, but perhaps try black or dark red? Same with the chest of drawers, paint + a change of hardware would transform it. (black body with dark red drawers + silver hardware?)
Your walls are bare, especially above your bed. Perhaps try some decals or framed art with goth motifs? A black bed canopy could work as well.
Your room seems to be lacking light. If you must keep the window(?) covered, try incorporating more light. A intricately designed floor lamp or black chandelier (if you go all out) would look nice.

>> No.8399718

>>8399713
considering how small the room is, and how cramped it is, black and dark red will make it smaller, I suggest doing more of a pastel goth theme if anything, if you use dark colours it'll appear smaller and you don't want that in such a small room.

You'll see a lot of string Christmas lights ("fairy lights") in the cutesy princess rooms. You could borrow this idea and hang up black string lights or lights sold around Halloween time for a similar effect.

1. Like everyone else has said, clean it. Buy a wastepaper basket if you have trouble taking things downstairs on the regular.

2. Try painting or wallpapering the front of your drawers in a nice, clean colour. The flowery print on the chest of drawers near your bed is particularly out of place.

3. Either buy a bigger fitted sheet or learn to tuck the one you have under your mattress. Done correctly, a bottom sheet in a nice colour really adds to the impact of your bedding. Personally, I would get a black one if you're going for a goth-y theme - it will match pretty much every colour and will make it less monochrome.

4. If you're allowed to wallpaper, consider a feature wall on the side of your tv. I suggest painting the other walls in a light colour - lilac at the darkest. You have a very small room, and very dark walls will make it seem even smaller.

5. Hang your mirror and free up space on your chest of drawers. Consider investing in a jewellery box to keep your makeup in.

6. Match your blankets to your sheets, the curtains, the wallpaper you choose. Pick a colour and stick with it the same way you would if you were building a basic wardrobe. If you have lots of different coloured furnishings, consider that neutral decor might be better for you than gothic.

7. I'd think about moving the chest of drawers next to the TV. You could make a cute tiered display with that and your other drawers. Play with layout until you find something practical and aesthetically pleasing. Try to arrange furniture along straight lines whenever you can.

8. In the same vein as cleaning, get a cable tidy. When plugs and cables are left hanging off of things, it not only creates a safety hazard, it looks ugly.

9. I see you have a dog. Think about where you can put things so he doesn't knock them over or get hair on them. Storage baskets are probably your best option.

honestly, the mismatched furniture seems to be your biggest obstacle on the road to kawaiiness. the white, yellow and yellowish stuff works fine with the lavender, but the black on your aquarium and ikea shelves really stick out and the wooden floor and furniture, while looking nice enough on their own, don't work wih the kawaii vibe either.
