8395686 No.8395686 [Reply] [Original]

I recently bought my first skirt that wasn't a-line without realizing I don't have a fuckin bell petti. I can't get another petti before the event.
I have 2 a-line's and 2 short pettis. Help would be appreciated.

>> No.8395693

Put one short petti under an a-line one. Roll up the short petti a bit so it lifts more of the a-line at the top.
Adjust/add pretties as needed from there.

>> No.8395739

Can we make this into a petticoat general thread?

Debating on getting a malco modes children's petticoat. I can definitely fit into the large size, and it's only $13 on ebay with free shipping. Description claims it's 2 layers - one layer nylon net over one layer organza. How's the quality of the children's petticoat? I'm mainly looking for poof I can layer on top of my daily CP a-line for a mildly larger poof - would this fit the bill?

I'm an avid fan of monster poof and I've had a super poofy bell shaped petti from classical puppets for about three years now. It still holds enough poof for daily wear, but I'm wondering what the best poof demon is on the market atm?

I'm just getting into lolita and my first dress is a bell shape. Though I don't want to put a large sum of money towards buying a bell shape petticoat since I just want to test how well the silhouette looks on me. What is a good place to start looking for a good casual poof bell petticoat thats under 25$ and isnt on taobao?

I have no idea, I only have petticoats from Bunny House, Classical Puppets and Dear Celine. All of those are lined though. Personally I think I would prefer a petti made from organza or something rather than tulle, though, because I think lined or not it's going to end up scratchy.

I've had mine for a year, but it's been in storage so I can't tell if it's deflated or if it wasn't as poofy as I remembered

>> No.8396587

I bought a victorian girl dress petti, and fuck that. I'm still using it, sadly. I have it pinned up to fake a bell shape. I would not reccomend, even if it's cheap.
It's itchy and delicate, and it catches and stretches and no. And when I'm wearing a heavier bag, the poof all migrates to one side, and it's almost always lumpy. 3/10, it works I guess.

So on a scale of one to ten how bad of an idea is this:
http://www.makeit-loveit.com/2014/10/how-to-make-a-hoop-skirt-a-sturdy-non-wobbly-version.html
I think the main reason I'm looking into hoop skirts is because I'm >>8396587 and that petti is hot as hell. My idea is to make it a decent-deflated size, then to put another petti over it as a buffer but also make a underskirt out of a thick cotton for less fluffy days. I've used that sort of hardware tubing for other projects, and I can confirm that it's flexible but lightweight.
>>8396596
I'd just suggest investing in a better, yet more expensive one. The poof is okay, but it's lumpy af which is one of my main issues with it. And it's very a-line. If you're wearing mostly thick, a-line dresses, though, I'd go for it. I think it's not a good choice for sweet lolita.

I, uh.. I didn't need two. Maybe the two will be good fot under particularly heavy/wide skirts.

I was worried at first because they're only one layer each - compared to my DC frothy, which has 4. There's about 5x as much fabric actually gathered into them, though.

It deflates a little, but I did neglect mine and threw it all over the floor and stuff. But even after three years of neglect, there's still poof for daily wear. Then again I've heard the more recent CP petticoats aren't as good as the older ones. So I don't know of that might factor in to your petticoat.

Nope. I'll just be using it for layering.

Has anyone gotten a Classical Puppets recently? I just got my A line and i'm sad since i already ordered their bell cause this Aline one is lined but still itchy as hell. Now I have to rush order bloomers instead of my normal yoga shorts i wear under or I'll look like a hobo-chan scratching myself. Is this a recent development? If you want actual ridiculous poof Tai can do custom combinations - I have one that is a combo of PT-10 and PT-05 and it's huge (bigger than my XL bunny house and about the same size as my CP bell + CP a-line layered used to be). The only problem is that she couldn't put the drawstring ribbon in the waistband so it slides down even with the elastic because of the weight, I have to safety pin the waistband

Looks like an A-line petti underneath a cupcake skirt, and it's also too short for the skirt. You can see how the print entirely dissappears into the folds, all of the portraits are half eaten into the folds.

Then, just as the print opens up to its fullest, that's also when the petticoat ends. On the side without the parasol you can see the sharp bend in the skirt where the petticoat obviously and the skirt suddenly dips towards the ground.

It was the same as the price of the petticoats would have been separately, and I bought it when there was a sale so it was R$94.50 + R$83 to ship.

I literally just put on the dresses and petti to take more pictures to show what it's like under my ridiculous heavy 4-velvet-ruffles dress vs. AP Milky Berry which is about as light as you get without being organza. Comparison photos on the right are the Bunny House XL which has deflated a lot since I bought it in October. May do a trial restarch with it since I'm pretty disappointed - it was nearly as good as the melikestea one when I first got it.

Why is this so hard for people? lol
Not an attack on you personally, but if the skirt is a gathered rectange, it needs a bell.
If it's pleated, slightly gathered with a gore cut, or a circle skirt, it needs an a-line
You can use an a-line in a gathered skirt, but the top part will look collapsed and sad and the bottom will look stuffed. Of course there's exceptions, but generally, just look at a guide of different kinds of skirts if you're not sure.

You're overthinking it. The main line there is:

rectangle skirt with cupcake/bell petticoats.

Learn to recognise rectangle skirts. That's all. To start with, anything with a border print is 99.999999% a rectangle skirt. No known brand prints border prints any way except repeated down the bolt, which means the resulting skirts are rectangle skirts.
