So hype. Hate I missed the shoot this year at my local con (Acen) because wigs, sans Roxas/Ven, never seem to improve and the only female cosplayers I see wandering around are of Kairi.

Richard Epcar was there too. But there's always Midwest so more opportunities for photos. Fangirled hard when I saw pic related since for years I'd only seen armored Terra's online and usually by someone Japanese. Poor guy was burning up and blind in his helmet.

Kingdom Hearts is my favorite video game but I just don't think the designs translate well in 3d. There are VERY few pics I see that I like, and no one ever seems to have the right type of leather for their Org XIII coat.

I don't really have anything for you man, sorry. Perfect looking Riku wigs are hard to come by because most people tend to just slap on a long grey wig and call it a day. But, it shouldn't be too difficult. As long as you get the color right (pics are from KH3D, made the ref for a commission a while ago, but you get my point) and have the right amount of volume, styling shouldn't be the most difficult thing.

You're right, but I think it would help a little bit if there were more female characters in KH in the first place...Like, jesus christ. Also, not all Org. members get any attention. You'll mostly see Axel, Roxas, Xion, Xemnas, and Saix (maybe). There was a really great Xigbar floating around on the web, but Xaldin, Luxord, Lexaeus and Vexen aren't heavy yaoi bait.

I honestly wish I could care about them but I can't with how underdeveloped they are (except for Aqua.. Xion to a lesser extent). But at the same time I also can't stand people on tumblr who give the girls ooc characteristics and then prance around berating everyone who doesn't love this STRONG female character.

That's tumblr for you. But Kairi is just easy mode because her outfit is so mass produced and her hair can have little effort put into it since no spikes and in the FMVs, it really doesn't have much style.

Aqua has the best design because she's so distinct and just pleasant to look at, but it also requires effort from her hanging cloth things to her shoes. And KH cosplayers don't want to put forth that effort.

As for the fan art, if they're not yaoi bait bishounen, it doesn't really exist. On deviantart you might get some MS paint comic of Demyx and Zexion because landwhale fujos for some reason can't stop shipping them. But I prefer pixiv because the majority of the art is well done and the user mentality is entirely different from the west's.

I really hate how people just buy cheap Org. coats regardless of the character too. Every member has a different asset to theirs that compliments their build, but I think the mass produced versions are just copied and pasted versions of something generally basic.

Well cast members are dying of old age now, pretty soon the younger voices (Namine/Ven) will go the point of no return unless they take lessons from JYB or Laura Baily who can still pull off their teen voices. Thankfully, Sora and Riku hit puberty in game and Aqua and Terra are technically "grown ups".

Aqua is the only one of those three who have an appealing design, though. I know that's mostly my opinion but you can't tell me Olette's design is nearly as impressive or cool. Larxene's design is really meh especially considering how subtle her weapons are (as opposed to having a flashy keyblade or hella flowers like Marluxia). Namine's is really simple, it's pretty but not very exciting. Compared to them, Aqua and Kairi are the most distinctive in design and have the biggest roles in the story. All the other chicks are Square or Disney characters.

If KH had more well designed, original girl characters, I bet the girl fans would flock to them.

The best female designs are other Square characters, really.

I suppose I could post some more of the Sora from OP. Not everyday you get a KH thread and her cosplays are amazing. Also I'm in most of the pics I have of her so sorry not sorry.

Well Ven and Naminé are both voiced by adults (Jesse McCartney and Meaghan Martin respectively) so that won't be an issue lol. The only time they hired kids was for the first game and they grew with the series so it worked out.

I dyed the wig using alcohol and FW acrylic artists ink. Because fuck sharpies.

Base wig was a Silver Clover from Cosworx. The FW ink colours I used were Purple Lake and Process Cyan. I have a bottle of black FW ink so I might have put a drop of black in there too. I mixed them together in the alcohol to get a colour I thought I liked then I dipped a qtips in it and let it dry to kind get an idea what the end colour would be. This required a few qtips and some colour adjustment.

Once I got what I liked, I set the wig on a plastic bag and used a thick wide paintbrush to brush the alcohol ink concoction on. Let dry, then finish the rest of the wig that way.

Spent hundreds on trying for Ansem but those chinese tailors screw it up every time and I just quit. Couldn't get the wig right and cut the poor thing up beyond repair. First coat I ordered was of Xehanort's, second one was of Ansem SoD but not only was it too tight, they didn't add the belts. They would not give ma a refund, and they said they'd charge extra for the belts and would take even longer to ship the thing. I really should have pushed further and forced them to give me my money back but I accepted and tried to add the belts myself. It did not work out right. And thus, 2 overly expensive and failures of cosplays sit in my closet untouched until I learn how to sew and rip them apart for fabric.

I think the thing about Heartless and the enemies in general is that unless you're a big fan, there's little attention to it. People want to cosplay the heroes and unnecessarily sexy villains. Then there's side characters for group shots. And if there are enemy cosplays it's probably just a Shadow (not even a Neo Shadow).

My one friend and I always used to talk about how it cool it would be to make Dancer enemy costumes with clear rollerskate wheels, because they glide when they attack. We met through figure skating, so we actually could've managed the skating without killing anyone around us (or ourselves). But this was years ago, and neither of us had the cosplay skills to execute it.

Dancer is my favorite Nobody design since they remind me of those Silent Hill nurses. But I think sticking to the heel and posing in that loose way Nobodies move would be better since the hat would no doubt obscure your vision and visible eyes would ruin the entire thing.

In my head, Riku is a manly kind of guy, with muscle. From KH2 onwards, anyway.
But then you see guys do it and they're either weedy or too buff and adult. And girls are just girls a lot of the time.

Puffy pants:
- Wiring on the top edges to make them stiff and stick out
- Inner fabric lining with tulle in between lining and outer layer to keep pants puffy. Didn't want to use stuffing. That's probably it.

Shoes(progress pic attached):
- Skate shoe base with enlarged cardboard sole glued on to skate shoe sole.
- Newspaper and tape built up to create shape
- cover shape in duct tape that matches majority colour of shoes
- Put fabric over shape in design of shoe
- Create black craft foam sole, seal, spray with truck bed spray for durability

I share your feels on getting into the series late though. During middle school I'd go over a friend's house and watch her play the first two but didn't play them myself until I was finishing high school. I wound up liking the series but I definitely grew out of that fanfiction/roleplay/yaoi fangirl phase before playing it. Axel and Roxas were kind of cute though.

There are tons of Sora cosplayers that are girls, because Sora himself looks very boyish and borderline feminine. Most of the KH guys do, barring maybe Xemnas, Saix, Xigbar, Xaldin and Lexaeus.

There's actually a Riku genderbend in Chi I believe. And it's wearing a miniskirt.

I think it all depends on what you're going for. Sora's bubbly and thus a girl counterpart could wear something really cutsey or open so it's easy to move around in. Not a fan of this artist's style, but pic related could work while still being recognizable. I'm also positive there's dozens of versions to work with.
