I just went through my LM history. I've only ever paid over $200 for brand 3 times and all of those items where dream items. The rest of the dresses are around the $150 ish mark. I don't know what delusional world this girl lives on for her to think that most brand is +$300 most of the time the retail price direct from brand stores isn't even that high.

Only ~279 listings have sold on lace market that have been +$500. I know lace market is only one second hand place to buy but that gives us a fair idea of how many dresses really fetch that price. Most were in at least partial sets as well.

Another alternative is to get samples of various makeup. You're new and not feeling like strutting right in, so don't go straight for department store stuff. Even as a girl, I can find the women in some of them really pushy. (Though some are definitely nice, but they are trying to sell products)

Try and get some online samples and build up confidence in the privacy of your own mirror. Online tutorials help too. If you know any girl who likes makeup, hopefully another cosplayer, she can probably help. You can do it, just don't care so much about what others think with makeup. It is really gender neutral at the end of the day, despite how they push it for women.

Also, I guess if you're super desperate, costume stores always have makeup and that's gender neutral. The quality of their makeup might be really great and theatrical to really cheap Halloween stuff, so just keep an eye out. It might help to just go there first.

They are nor any cheaper than Taobao, Aliexpress or Bodyline, even more expensive at times. But they are sketchier than the alternatives. So why even bother?

And yes, there are always the same stories and pics, but many stories are not documented.
My first lolita coords were from Milanoo and I was really happy with them, because I thought this was what quality looks like. The blouses and skirts I ordered were roughly at the same quality level as my Bodyline clothes, but more expensive. They also took very long to ship my stuff and the mails I got were very unprofessional. And they steal photos from Taobao, so who knows what you're getting?

But Milanoo's problem wasn't that they're predictably shit. Even way back in the beginning, Milanoo had both "shit" and "this turned out okay, I didn't pay burando so I didn't get burando quality" reviews.

Milanoo's problem has always been that it's a gamble to order from them, since they use stolen photos and switch between different manufacturers you don't even know what the real product looks like. If you got lucky, you get a maybe okay quality of product. If you were really unlucky, you got shit that you can't use.

Given that info, the other anons have a point. Rather than spending the money at Milanoo, why not get stuff from some of the more reliable taobao, aliexpress, bodyline sites? At least if the site isn't using stolen photos, you can see the judge the quality from the photos and hedge your bets.

TheN later on we got more information from the venue that 500 is for the room rental for 4 hours, and we need an additional 800+ for catering. They have an actual resturaunt that will be catering attached to the gardens, which ive eaten at before it was pretty damn good, so for the price im expecting the same quality of food. Part of the gardens even grows food that is used in the bistro, which is pretty cool imo.

We have a thread on the event page where you can list any allergies or food restrictions you have, and within the next few weeks I will be meeting with the head chef to discuss the food situation to make sure everyone attending will be getting something they can safely eat and enjoy. As information comes to us, we post it so everyone is in the know. As you can see on the indegogo page, we have our pricing laid out.

As has been explained already, the $1700 was our rough estimate before actually contacting the venue to confirm pricing. We had thought that $800 covered both the venue and catering, but it turned out that they were separate and that the venue was a little cheaper and the catering a little more expensive than we previously expected. We've tried to be as transparent about this as possible and if you have any questions or concerns you're welcome to bring them up to us personally or on the facebook event, but trying to "call us out" on cgl is a little immature. As for the indiegogo... As others have pointed out, it's more for the comm to track where we're at on money than anything else. Honestly I don't know that it's the most appropriate way to track this, but since someone already put money in for it, it's not possible to take it down. It seemed like a good idea at the time.
