I think wa lolita can be done tastefully and have asked my japanese friwnds about this. I can understand it can be insulting that someone from another culture wants to take your traditional clothing and adulterate it or make it into a shitty costume. Lots of people do not know how to tie the kimono/obi correctly either. I could never butcher a real kimono but I do like to wear yukata with a skirt giving the impression of hakama.
