Complete newb right here trying to make a cohesive first coord for this weekends ild meet, it's severely casual-looking but it was all I could find on short notice.
Should I shorten the cardi to make the silhouette a better shape? should I round off the corners and add lace trimming to make it look more like a bolero?
suggestions to improve anything?
ideas for future coords with this dress?
Oh and the shoes are chocolate brown, sorry about the terrible lighting

>> No.8377165

>>8377160
If you can, find some simple bow clips that you can clip to the edge of the beret and add some pins to your cardigan. A bolero would be better but not necessary. What might help though is adding brown trimming to the cuffs of the cardigan so your wrists aren't too bare. Try to get more poof if you can by layering another petticoat.

Next time I think it would be cute to play off the dusty pink color with matching shoes.

>> No.8377173

>>8377160

A quick way to spruce this up is a brooch on the front of your beret, even just a silk flower with a pin sewn on. A cute necklace would also be an improvement, either a pendant or a short one I think.

I don't know how easy it is to shorten knit things where the hem isn't finished by sewing, and I'm not sure it'll look good or better than it is now. I like the collar.

would adding the detachable bow that came with the dress to my beret be a good idea? I have a bunch of the little bows that are on the front of my cardi so maybe I'll add more of those, the brown trimming is a good idea though I might whip up some wrist cuffs. I actually have some dusty pink shoes but wanted to balance the brown with my beret (I have a pink one that I ordered but it ended up being bright pink). The petti is a brand new CP cupcake but I didn't fluff it when I put it on so that's why it's flat I think.
>>8377173
I thought I could just overlock the edges then fold them and add lace on the top

>> No.8377215

>>8377203

Yes to the bow, if it sits right. If it sticks out weirdly on your head then skip it.

I like the brown shoes better, save the pink ones for an alternative coord.

I'd worry about the new hem being weak, strangely stretchy or non-stretchy, and/or bulky. Trim might cover it, I'd start that project after ILD though.

I have a bit of a coord nightmare. Im going to Paris with my boyfriend in september and i want to wear lolita for some of the days but we will be doing a huge amount of walking. Is there any Pink shoes that would be suited to lolita and yet comfertable not to cripple my feet? Because my only other option are my work shoes which are black flats that won't match my sweet dresses that i was planning on wearing.
Any help? Please?

>> No.8377373

>>8377334
You could always wear non lolita shoes that are comfortable yet match. Just dont post photos that include your shoes online...
If you mean you want to take photos in lolita in scenic areas but dont want to carry around lolita shoes.. then the only thing i could think of would be wearing bodyline shoes250 with really good shoe padding. Ive had 12 hour days walking around tokyo & disneyland without the padding and there was minimal damage done. shoes 250 run kind of big so theres room for shoe padding and you dont have to worry too hard about getting them scuffed because bodyline.

if you can't find any pink shoes in time, you can wear a pair of brown oxfords/brogues, they're comfy and imo they look cute in sweet

>> No.8377542

>>8377334
I've actually found all of my bodyline shoes to be very comfortable to walk in. To increase the amount of time you can comfortably wear them, get some cushioned insoles, they don't need to be fancy ones, just something softer than the plastic insides the shoes have, and wear stockings or WOOL socks if you can find them. Wool socks wicks moisture away from your skin - moisture+fiction=blisters. Stockings will compress your skin to reduce friction, wool socks will reduce moisture. Try not to wear socks that are primarily cotton because cotton retains moisture and will accelerate blistering.

I need you girls to help me not look ita. I just had an unexpected emergency surgery so my belly is covered in ugly and sensitive incisions. I've already accepted that I'm not going to be able to do anything for ILD but there's a meet in a week that I've been planning on attending for months. Unfortunately most of my clothes would irritate the incisions and leave me in a lot of discomfort because I like fitted bodices.

I'd rather not show up in sweatpants and a tshirt with my basket of sweets just because I said I'd be there. My solution was this ETC jsk (sorry for the wonky quality, it's kind of hard to move around to take pics rn). It's nice and loose and comfy on me. However there's a chance that my abdomen will still be a bit puffy and a blouse would more than likely sit too tight there.

Since the jsk is more otome anyway do you gulls think I could get away with minimal poof and no blouse on this particular dress? What if I put a cardigan or a bolero over it? Or am I just gonna look like itashit? Not sure what else I can do to be in as little pain as possible while still looking cute.

As someone who has REALLY problematic feet (I destroy shoes in two weeks from uneven wear, have to sleep with splints, orthotic insoles etc), I'm in love with bodyline's shoes300, especially if you have bunions and/or wide feet. They're cute but not too OTT and you can survive 8 hours of walking around or so in a day. Aside from that I literally have to wear those Tumblr rainboots everyday because they won't buckle on me.

>> No.8377993

Minimal poof is fine. Would the petti waistband be an issue too, though?

I own a longer A-line petti that I roll up for short dresses, but if I'm wearing a binder I just tuck it into that up under my bust, so there's no real waistband but the flare still starts at the waist instead of under. It might be too short notice but that might be an option? if that makes sense?

The dress is cute, I wouldn't worry about it much.

How do you feel about the chiffon (jsk and blouse) with crochet white tights? I hope to find the other ones but if I don't, I don't really have another option...

>>8377701

Thank you guys so much for the help! Phew, I guess that means I might not look like TOO much of a crazy person. I'm gonna have to get creative there but I should be able to figure something out, like maybe the binder suggestion.

>> No.8378320

>>8378256

If you don't mind some construction & you own a petti with elastic in a casing, you could take apart the casing and replace it temporarily with a ribbon to gather it by hand when worn instead. That would keep it from constantly constricting. You could then tie it a little loose and pin it to a comfortable slip so it stays up.

Just kinda shooting ideas your way, haha. I hope things work out for you and you feel better.

So I have this bodyline dress (none of these pictures are mine) and the "off white" is basically ivory-beige. I've been wearing a black blouse or a ivory blouse similar to the pic related, with ivory ankle socks that are less shitty than those pictured, and gold or black tea parties. This is kind of my favorite "cute but inexpensive and low maintenance." outfit right now.
But lately, I've considered incorporating browns into it, I just always cringe at the thought of black and brown without a purpose. Will the beige and brown in the print make it acceptable or should I just stick to ivory and black? Thanks!

I think you need more white/ivory to balance out the tights. If you're being more ott with a wig and such, I'd stack a large white bow and smaller black one. Or a white bow with some black flowers/clips. I'd also say sweeter black shoes, but I don't see any wrong with white or pink shoes. I personally think it's less important to tie in the main color of the main piece than it is to tie in the accessories. The main piece can't look out of place, it's the main piece.

/cgl/ will shit on you for wearing a flower crown, but I like them. What you're stating is pretty basic, but are you working with that skirt? What colourway?

White would be too stark, go for ivory or cream, with ankle socks and either flats or kitten heals with straps. mary janes will bring the elegance out of the look imo. Dont neglect jewelry. Bring in the gold from tjhe print, and wear something like this to compliment your colourway.

Concrit? Threw everything on just to see how it looks together. I think the cardigan needs some work still (maybe something darker to match the socks) and I feel like I need more accessories. Suggestions welcome!

Here's how the coord ended up. I'm sorry but I didn't have any other shoes to work with this coord. This is not my best work but It's not awful either.

I might get those anyway, if they don't match, I have a bunch of stuff that would look good with red shoes.

What colors are those? They all look like neutrals. If it's sax and brown, nice, but grey and brown?
I think the shoes and headband are both out of place. If you swapped the socks and cardigan for an ivory, it might look better. If not, shorter dark socks tend to look better than dark tights when it comes to light shoes. The head piece should probably try to match the dress too. The shoes seem like a random color, but maybe it's just the lighting.

Yeah, sorry, the lighting is really shitty. Headband is a cream/ivory, cardigan is a mix of warmer browns and more neutral darker browns, dress is beige (Rococo Braid jsk from IW, if that helps), socks are dark brown with beige accents, and the shoes are also beige (pic attached).

Thanks for the input! I'll keep tweaking!

Get some nice blazers/cardigans/boleros that are a statement in themselves. That will bring a second block of colour into the outfit and mean you can be more creative with headwear, socks, and shoes.

I have bangs, I just style them to so they're not right in my face. I end up pushing them back, so it's like why so I style my bangs over my forehead when they'll just ended up pushed behind my ear.

If you can push bangs behind your ears and have them stay they probably aren't bangs. I don't see any on that picture.

To be completely honest this coord is meh. Please get a new headdress, a bow or a bonnet, and some bangs as previously
suggested. Also more accessories, and sweet shoes.

You look like JNig in a bad way. I'd say get some clip-in bangs or wear a wig, something to cover your 5head. Also, style your hair differently, it's pretty thin and doesn't look very nice the way you have it.

Reposting this from the other thread.

Any suggestions on how to coord this without
being boring and basic af?

Also, I'm re-vamping my wardrobe to be more versatile, meaning more plain pieces. Any suggestions on accessories to purchase to add some flair to those as well? Currently, my taobao order is filled with hats, little bow clips and printed tights.

Sorry for the lame mspaint collage.

Which main piece do you think would go best? This is for a High Tea event, and it would be the first OTT coord I've done so I definitely need feedback! I'm just worried about it looking too busy, so any suggestions for change are definitely appreciated.

So far my friends all said that the Haenuli piece would look best with what I have in the collage. Someone also suggested a scepter, but I'm not usually one to like carrying around props.

OTT isn't really my forte, but I agree with your friends. I think the Haenuli piece will look the best. It ties in all the colors and themes really well. I think the IW jsk will be too busy and will look messy, and the plain black will be to plain for OTT.

Another Misty Sky anon here.
I have the skirt in lavender. I have the rerelease, but this picture is probably the closest to the color on my screen. The main difference is that the lace is white on mine.

May get some suggestions for something more classic or toned down with this? Bonus points for an ebay/alixpress blouse, since I like going cheap there so I don't have to fret about sweat and more frequent washings.

I tend to coord it with white, pink, and/or blue a lot, since it's so difficult to find lavender in this shade. I use the waist bow pin as an accessory to balance the lavender. Usually pinned to a beret.
But I'm interested in how it would look with maybe jewel colors.

so, most of the gold star jewelry i was finding was kinda crappy. either tiny and overpriced or cheap looking yet still overpriced. I found goldstone and has great reviews for being just as sparkly in person. The beads and star bead cuffs are to make a nicer chain for the necklace and maybe a bracelet to match. I feel like I might need more, but is it a good start?
