For what it's worth, I've seen an awful lot of younger girls (early 20's) look homely as fuck. Lighting can do a lot to make your face look lumpy and older, especially without makeup and with wire framed old lady glasses. Sometimes something as simple as changing the way you smile and photos can make all the difference. This looks like the contrast and brightness was amped up, making areas of her face look deeper than they probably actually are. Not defending her or anything, I'm just saying it's something I've noticed even with my own photos.

because at fashion shows for public events like this (japanese festivals) they dont want to lose business or get any sort of bad rep. a lot of these festivals and figured out they can milk money out of weebs that go to the event; if they were to reject people based on appearance i could imagine there would be all sorts of uproar from butthurt rejects. as to whether or not it would actually affect attendance or the name of the festival, i doubt it, but i could see the people organizing it not really wanting to start something, especially if it's smaller. perhaps if the festivals grow larger they would be able to have more of a screening/selection process, but i also think the biggest thing is the people that suggest a cosplay/lolita fashion show a these festivals don't know a whole lot about it themselves or if they do, they don't really care that much since it's just supposed to be some fun festival.

i would agree that they there should be a nicer screening process but idk, i also feel like, it's technically not really an event for cosplay and lolita anyway (even if it is a cultural festival and those two things are technically related to the pop culture of japan) so it's like....i don't go there expecting to see amazing cosplays and lolita coords anyway, know what i mean? a comm-hosted fashion show at a convention, now that i definitely expect to see some quality control in what coords are shown off just by nature of the event.

i'm not sure, i only know what's happening because i remember it's happened to me a few times after getting a dress in the mail. it's not comfortable and feels (and obviously looks) very awkward so i'm quite surprised that she went out like that...her situation looks even worse because her chest looks even larger/dress looks even smaller than the times i did it.
what worked for me was tightening the straps on my bra as much as i could (without the bra going too far up that it didnt wanna stay on my titties). that usually helps me be able to then settle the girls in above the waistline and it's looked pretty fine, but that's only if there's even room for my tits in the first place - by the way the bodice is stretched out the dress looks just plain too small, chest is far too large to fit into the bodice without hurting her chest or ripping the dress.

i know how frustrating it is to get a dress and have it not fit properly, but i am unsure if she just is completely unaware or just really wanted to wear the dress. either way, honestly, the best thing to do is just sell it and find something that fits, get a binder if that will help, or get it professionally altered. i think the only thing that sucks more than trying on a dress and seeing it doesn't fit well, is trying to force yourself into it and pretend it does. i know cgl thinks she looks a little homely but i think she's endearingly cute and has some nice coords but...this isn't one of them and it's all because of how odd the fit of the dress is. she'd like 10x nicer if the bodice didn't fit so bizarrely.

I have this happen myself. Large cup size, shallow bust. I'm also a bit saggy from an 80lb weight loss since my weight is distributed in the top rather on the bottom. I usually adjust bra straps and wear an underbust corset to help get them up in there if it's a high waist. I don't need to tightlace or anything, it just helps to get them in the proper position. Plus it helps with posture. Also, I don't buy JSKs if the straps don't attach with a button, I usually need to adjust them, but sometimes I can get away without it and just using my normal methods if it has buttonholes on the straps. Other times I just move the button on the strap down if it's the type with the loop or the button hole on the back of the dress.

I feel this is a nitpick. I understand she wants to go sweeter and that's fine. The accessorize is killing it though. Some nicer quality sweeter jewelry would be fine rather than bunnies and big cheap plastic beads. Trim the bangs on the wig. I actually like this color with this print for some reason even though I'd normally prefer a natural color. Not liking the floral headband, florals could be incorporated but it feels off given the colors and choice of accessories.

Maybe I'm weird but I really like the second coord more? Like yes the blouse is mad questionable but it's more interesting and shows greater mastery than the first one. The pinks are all complimentary and I think the demure poof works much better with a dress that intense, especially since there's no print to look collapsed and awful.

When going low poof lolita, it's not the print being collapsed that we tend to focus on, it's how the second photo has so little poof the whole dress looks like a frumpy sack covered in frills instead of a proper dress. Her body is more or less a rectangle, this isn't exactly a flattering silhoutte.

As for greater mastery, she completely did not bother balancing the mint green with anything and focused only on adding pink to the dress. The cardi doesn't really work with her blouse, and the pinks aren't so much complimentary as all different shades of pink. The darker shades of pink is contaminating the cream yellow, making the white cardi look grey and dirty, same effect as if she's wearing ivory and white together. This isn't even including why she's carrying 3 differently themed plushies (alpaca, bag and usakumya friend charm) and wearing a floral crown. Sorry, but this is a mess. Girl needs to learn to simplify and go back to basics instead of throwing every single thing she likes into one outfit.

i'm not sure why i'm responding to this, but i'm the girl in the photo. i wore an underskirt even though the dress is the long version because of a previous photo getting ripped apart here that was too short and showed my knees. so now i'm paranoid about my knees showing. the underskirt is too big on me due to weight loss, but it slips down more in the front than in the back because my butt is larger than my stomach. i didn't realize it had fallen down or i would have fixed it before the photos were taken. it's not my best outfit (and it's just a special set so i didn't put much work into the coordinate) but i didn't think it was worth all this discussion.

It took my bust down 10 cm, which would be fantastic for lolita, but it flattens your chest, so then if you have the room, you also have this weird ass gape where breasts should be. Even wearing a bra underneath does nothing for breast shape. I mean, I guess theoretically if it were really important to you you could wear an A/B cup bra over the binder, but that's just getting way too complicated. And then that extra breast tissue is pushed down towards your waist, so if the dress is really fitted, it's gonna look weird as fuck. Ouji it's not so bad, because the clothing should be looser fitted, and the clothing tends to mask the problem.

People should just buy stuff that fucking fits or lose weight. There is a shit ton of lolita clothing that can fit larger girls if they stop getting hung up on certain prints. Even at 5'2", 150 pounds, and 32G breasts, I managed.
