Gijinkas are cool if the design isn't terrible.

Full pokemon fursuits are cool as long as they actually look like the pokemon, and aren't anthro garbage.

I feel like it really depends on the character's design. If it can be humanized properly and actually work for the character, sure! Full mascot suits are still really cool to see however and can work really well for characters that just do best as what they look like normally.

Gikinkas are one of my favorite things to do because in order for a cosplay of a character to look it's best, you'd have to actually have the same features as them, and usually, people don't (people rarely have the same features as drawings and cartoons). With gijinka, you get a chance to come up with a really cool unique design that suits you. It doesn't matter your skin tone or face shape or nose size. As long as your design isn't shit you'll probs look pretty cool.

I really love the concept of humanizing, and I find that fursuits or full body suits looks shittier most of the time, even if its a good one, partly because furries have kinda stained it for me (Im really sad about it but I just cant look at somebody in a full suit and not cringe) and pokemon most of the time isn't supposed to be human size/form

See, I thought that too but Shaymin's dress has no straps to hold it up as well as a bad green wig could ruin everything, even if you nailed the dress. I also don't care for arm sleeves but that's because I've seen too many of them done very badly on 2hus and Vocaloids.

Shiny Reshiram has awkward wing-arms (that the artist tried to hide behind the character lol) and getting a wig to do that would be nearly impossible.

I think Milotic's has an outfit that could work very well but obviously the wig would need to be styled a little more realistically. The tights would look nice even on normal legs.

While the wigs aren't realistic, the arms on Reshiram could be modified for 3DPD proportions. I'd say Shaymin would still work for someone experienced and/or lucky.

I'd love to see a legit Nintendo crossover of Pokemon and Monster Hunter so we could see how some of the bigger Pokemon armor sets would look (and get some better gijinka cosplayers?), but I don't think Nintendo would approve of killing and farming their precious Pokemon.

I love these designs. But I would rather do a fem version of the male. Maybe with a longer waistcoat part. But only because skirts make me feel weirdly exposed.

I did a human Baymax at Fanime, jt went over pretty well. It was basically white scrubs with a beenie i got off etsy and some touches like a name badge, stethoscope and some round sunglasses.

I really want to do suicune, but I dont know what to do about the design. I found this one, but its just kind of eh for me. I want to do something flowy-er, and with a big headpiece for suicune's big horn thing.

I find it annoying when they're TOO subtle or have nothing to indicate what Pokemon they are other than color scheme. So yeah most of the cosplay Eevees where it's just a group of girls in casual clothing that sort of matches the colors of the Eevees with ears or some shit.

Love the hell out of them. Used to do weekly/monthly gijinka threads for people that wanted to see something but didn't feel like digging anything up themselves.
I generally draw lines whenever something is so diluted from it's source. Like a gijinka that only has ears that sorta match kinda thing, but also kinda goes into the next point.
Generally most material is acceptable? Gijinka is pretty forgiving and lets you have creative freedom with designs, so it can literally fit any race, shape, height, disability, etc. What I don't consider acceptable is people generally just putting on a set of ears, maybe a tail and not even trying to color cord an outfit towards whatever gijinka they are doing. I could see an eevee being a type of lolita style with brown hair and tail etc, but if you put on a grunge outfit, have bright blond hair and brown eevee ears, I dunno if eevee.
And if you want/have the dosh, go for it. Suiting is something different I feel though. Not a bad or good thing.

This is so stupid and revealing for the sake of being revealing. There's nothving greninja about it.

Where do you guys go to find gijinkas?
I must suck real bad at finding them.
Thinking about maybe doing a Glameow gijinka and getting my friend to do purugly (im such a nice friend)
