Huge fan here of very simple, but elegant classic-gothic style. I treat it as being like aristocrat, but higher-hemlined, sort of 'aristocratic lady at lunch', in a sort of 'casual' take on aristo, if you get me. Easier to wear when it's raining as well than female style aristo, as you don't have ankle/floor-length hems going through puddles, etc. IW is a great brand for this sort of look, with the right pieces. It combines beautifully with Atelier Boz pieces.

you can tell classic pieces look better in muted tones, browns, beige tones, with the occasional wine or deep navy blue

the pieces that look so-so feature too much detailing, pinks, brilliant whites

also would stay away from the gimmicky stuff

sure that violin clutch is cute, and some of the bow prints look awesome but those only look cool in tumblr pictures and will get old IRL fast

and they don't stand up to the test of time, hyped print in lolita probably not so cool in 3 years

if you're spending brand money, shit better hold up for a few years
