Heya, so here I was assembling what would become a good Star Trek cosplay in my mind (specifically, Terran Empire), and I had been gathering the pieces and badges necessary. So I ordered what seems to be a suit from the actual Trek store itself. Now, I tried putting it on, and holy crap it didn't fit.

Now I'm panicking, the con is only a little ways away. Even if I wasn't fat-ish (apparently they committed genocide on all big people in the far future), it's way too short. This is their X-Large. I'm something like 6' 4"

Is there anywhere else people can point me to that sells TNG/VOY/DS9 uniforms? Should I just accept the inevitable and doom my cosplay till next year or whenever I can unfat myself?

Also, Star Trek general because make it so

Well which is it? TNG alone had at least 2 costume changes I can think of, the onesie vs the 2 piece versions that the senior officers get later one. And then DS9 and Voyager's are totally different than TNG's. Are you just going as a generic officer?

Well which is it you want to do? TNG alone had at least 2 costume changes I can think of, the onesie vs the 2 piece versions that the senior officers get later on. And then DS9 and Voyager's are totally different than TNG's. Are you just going as a generic officer from any of these?

Are you blind? Post in the Help thread.

Definitely more than that... the early seasons onesies, the mid-later seasons onesies, and I'm gonna assume OP doesn't mean the officer special ceremony and casual cardigan/sweater uniforms too but there's also that. And movie versions. And that's just TNG alone...

Yeah, OP it'd definitely help if you gave an example of exactly which uniform you want.

>bumping because a Star Trek general/photothread would be kinda nice to see, sure

TNG two piece, the later one is less robust imo. Not really a fan of of the cardigan version either, or the DS9 later era jumpsuits. The one I got is not very earliest one reminiscent of naval uniforms, but the slightly later one, before the blueish undershirt.

Mind you, I'm doing some of the work from guessing, since there never WAS a TNG Mirror Universe episode. The closest we have is the evil fake Voyager crew.

I know people like to use the officer sash from TOS, but I figured that is TOS era Mirror Universe. Since the Empire has fallen by DS9 era, it would mean a more combat oriented uniform, with maybe some scavenged/field customized bits.

Oh and on another note, I've been scouring Amazon, ebay and local military surplus, and other places, I cannot for the life of me find a Sam Browne/tri strap military belt, let alone a prominent one. All I can find are REALLY old ones with very thin cords. Any pointers on where to look?

I use CosplaySky (and so do many trekkies I know) for my uniforms. I have my TNG skant, and my fiance has a TNG admiral's uniform and a custom DS9 style mirror uniform. They do custom size, and their quality is pretty nice. We also have quite a few of their other costumes as well. Just make sure you take ALL of the measurements.

Wow, thanks for that

Also, DS9 style Mirror Uniform? They didn't have any, humans were slaves by then.

Also, skant? You mean the early skirt/shirt combo thing?

>> No.8301566

>>8301540
The ds9 style mirror uniform was a custom design that was sent to them, and then made. Not sure if they still have it on their site, though. My ship, and others that are part of local MFI chapters, play in a separate universe where the Terran Empire never fell. We're with the old school thought of OCs, ships, and story lines. Much like how Trek fandom used to be in the 90s, and how SFI, KLAW, and KAG still are.

And yes, the skant. The mini dress from season 1 TNG is called a skant.

>> No.8301568

>>8301540
CosplaySky's version of the skant does not come with the built-in shorts, though.

Very nice set up you got there mang.

I've run across neat costume designs for a never fallen Empire before, but alas, girls get more cool options than guys (getting to wear thigh high boots among other things). I kind of wish that the girls in In A Mirror Darkly also had gunbelts though.

Here's an interesting take from the comics I found, for late era TOS. I'm sure someone out there is offended that girls no matter the era 'have to' bare their midriffs, but eh I don't feel that. I'm sure it's more just a personal thing anyways. Or maybe it's just Trek overdoing things trying to showcase that the people in the MU are different yet similar from their normal counterparts.

Holy shit thanks by the way for pointing me to CosplaySky. I'm amazed at the amount of uniforms they got - they even have some STO ones. And while the prices are higher than the official set, way better options, and probably not nearly as expensive as what huge deal cosplays can get to I suspect. What's the fabric like?

Here, a not so lewd Mirror Janeway. Probably because she's even more bloodthirsty than normal anyways.

No problem. Their quality is pretty good for their prices. With our uniforms, they just list the fabric type as "suit material", so maybe it's a poly/cotton gabardine? Idk

I've seen some women online wear just the male mirror uniforms, and it still looks damn good. I mirrorfied my skant,so even though it's still short, yay for no midriff.

Got any photos of people cosplaying Mirror stuff? My supply is short.

Also, what's wrong with Mirror midriffs? It adds flavor, I feel. Plus it gives you a good idea of people's attitudes in the MU.

Anyway, a variant of Jadzia, slight midriff top with pants bottom

>> No.8303681

Nice thread. I've been looking for a good uniform and it saddens me that I don't see many Star Trek cosplayers at cons. I know it's not anime but neither is homestuck, adventure time etc. and when you do see it it's TOS which I don't really care for.

>> No.8304155

I don't have many photos, only a few of friends, but I can post them.

Also, nothing wrong with midriffs. I love them for mirror stuff, I just don't think I could ever pull it off.

It's really hard to get a body like Jolene's so I don't think it'd be nice to crit on that factor.

This is why I made my own costume. So that I didn't run into the "not fitting issue, I ordered the canon fabric and everything. That's what I would suggest doing.

Where from, local fabric store? And what do you mean canon fabric? I've feared I'd have to sew at worst, and while it seems I won't have to, it's too late for this years ACEN in any case.

Now, onto another matter - I figured a tri gunbelt, knife, hell even aiguillette cord would make worthy additions. But I want to make it even more Mirror-y. Would it be overkill if I added minor shoulder pauldrons and a cape in the back, like Romulans sometimes have? I personally think it would look cool, but what about you guys?
