2015 I got drunk before going to the Giant Robots in Space party and proceeded to get absolutely wasted there. I ended up on my knees with my arms wrapped around a friend's waist wailing and apologizing profusely because I forgot to save a Baymax ribbon for her.

I'm still sad I missed the wonders that were the Hanadokicon parties. I heard the con itself was kind of meh and by extension any dances they might have had, but apparently the parties were fucking wild.

I'm making a themed drink lineup for Anime Expo. Last year I enjoyed myself over near the Westin pool area and all I brought was just random spirits. I was planning on getting a suite for a room party but those plans fell through so hopefully I can find a party going on willing to let me prepare some drinks.


The dance at AX is alright, but get you gotta get there early if you're alone since it's tough finding a partner later on. I'm not a fan of the big dance circles but if you are then it's not a bad place to be at night.

I've never been drunk in my life but i like watching the carnage unfold. I often go in something less casual for one day and something comfy for the next, so I might go to London MCM in wa lolita and/or classic on Friday/Saturday then spend Sunday running around in my Umbreon. It's too expensive and not worth the queuing these days so I'm just going to bring a picnic, some weed and watch people skanking out to chiptune remixes of weeby theme tunes.

It depends on how autistic you are, but usually you have to be out at night. Some possibilities, from least autistic to most autistic:

- Be friendly and socialize in areas with a lot of adults who aren't in tight clusters. Pool area at ALA is a good example.
- Hang around the elevators and ask people who look like they're going to a party if you can join them.
- Latch on to a tripfag and go to a party with them.
- If super autistic, you can follow any large group of adults moving together at night. 9/10 chance they're going to a party, and everyone will assume you know someone in the group.

Best - Acen 2008 and 2009. Great music, went with a big group of friends, was able to go backstage and meet some of the artists. I was tripping balls both years and it was fun as hell.

Worst - AX and Katsucon, any year. Their dances aren't that fun and the music is all over the place. I walked out when I noticed there was Celtic music or something played at Katsucon's dance this year. Wth? I want to shake my ass, not listen to the Brave soundtrack.

Most of the con raves/dances I've been to give the impression that the people there don't actually party regularly and use the convention as their opportunity to do so. But then they just have no idea what they're doing and try and to force it to be like some project x thing, which ends up super cringey :/ The best times I have are usually after a failed attempt at going to the rave, and just ending up drinking on the street or in a hotel room.

Oh, I didn't mean that the room parties were crazy or anything, just better that the crowd of weebs who're inexperienced at partying at the raves, being gross and awkward. Usually the rooms are way more casual, people sitting, drinking and talking, sharing pictures or stories from the day. Maybe I'm just growing out of raves entirely.

I've only been to one "crazy" room party, and even then it probably would be considered tame by many people's standards.

Nerd parties are both awesome and make me facepalm at the same time.

At nerd parties everyone show up exactly at the posted starting time. The first hour or so is like an office party.

On the other hand once it gets started, everyone parties hard. At clubs or parties it usually the normalfags standing around on the edge of the dance floor with a beer in hand acting too cool to party. Alot of people can't dance but at cons or parties I tend to run into more people who can REALLY dance.

Some years ago a person told me raves (because I didn't know at the time) were a bunch of white people having seizures to techno music.

And then I went to my first about 2 years ago and I believed them. I thought it was pretty fun since I had never let loose like that before. Then some guy started dry humping me from behind and would NOT let go. Got a friend to get him off of me. Wasn't a bad night overall.

As for parties, I went to my first last year. Started off alright until everyone started getting really rowdy and the police showed up. A shame really since the people staying at the hotel most likely have no clue what's going on and can't understand why there's suddenly people in funny costumes running around shouting and spazzing out everywhere. The party itself was nice and I had fun just people watching and chatting. Didn't get to enjoy it to its fullest because I went out of curiosity and was looking rather frumpy.

Ironically I've found real raves to be better behaved. Part of it is the crowds a little older (most events are 18+ and some 21+) as well as the fact that, frankly, a lot of people take molly... Which ups your empathy AND makes it a lot harder to get a boner. So even frat assholes who WOULD grind on you have a harder time doing so.

I was at Katsucon 2011 in DC (20 at the time)
I was working for a vendor at the event so my car was parked in the loading zone outback.
I attended the rave when the merchant room closed. I was there for about an hour then I start making out with some chick.
She asked if I had a room at the Gaylord hotel, which was booked so I was staying with my coworkers at a different hotel. I said no, but I have a Jaguar.
We go to the loading zone and get into my car, she gives me a Bj then start heading back. The loading doors we used to exit where locked. Then a police car and fire engine pulls up. Apparently we set off the alarm when we left.
We get back in my car and I speed around the convention center to drop her off at the front. I never even got her name.

Went to the rave at Metrocon a couple years back. The smell in the whole room was god awful. I had to sit on the top row of bleachers to escape it. Never been to a rave since.

I was at this party that took place in a freaking ice room at the JW Marriott during AX 2013.

This Dante Basco-looking mother fucker comes in and in the thirstiest voice possible says something like, "My friend just broke up with her boyfriend, do you guys have any tissues?"

The room was silent in disbelief that someone was so obviously trying to swoop in on his friend until someone piped up and said, "Dude, she doesn't need tissues, she needs a drink."

So Rufio brought his friend back to the party and she had a grand old time with everyone else in the room. She only had one drink and was still sober when they left, so I'm not sure if the Last Thirstbender's efforts to get in her pants worked or not.

Nothing too crazy, I just thought it was funny that this guy looked like Dante Basco.

Japanese music scene in general. It's a shame because a lot of really cool DJs and producers come from Japan yet the meet and greets are always fairly empty.
