Since we haven't had one of these in a while... Country lolita thread! I want to see cute coords with wicker, and dumb tablecloth gingham, and sunhats that serve no purpose, and braids. Give me accessory inspiration for an upcoming picnic. Wear a bread print or an actual goddamn biscuit around your neck for all I care.

I live in London and i every one of those kitchen supply shops with mops and buckets and home decor shit always have great loliable props etc. Sometimes the quality isn't all that great but it doesn't always matter. I think this basket was £6

I'd say no because of the colors. I know there's a lot of confusion about Country and of course I didn't invent the style and I'm not the boss (heavens knows I better write that because I get chewed out on here all the time otherwise), but there's more to country Lolita than just a straw hat. It always bothered me when the only thing about the outfit that made it country was the straw hat or purse. Personally, I don't consider all cords with a straw hat to be country, but that's just me.

Anyway the features I look for when deciding an outfit is country or not are:

x Outfits tend to be on the casual side.
x Frequent use of hats compared to other styles (almost always straw).
x Socks, especially knee or ankle, used over OTK or tights.
x Simple patterned fabric like gingham, or nature themed prints like fruit and flowers used.
x Colors are often natural or basic, heavy focus on neutrals and lighter colors, earthy colors sometimes used, especially as accents.
x Preferences for natural fabrics and textures.
x Shoes with a low heel or simple design (for walking around the countryside in).
X An overall feeling of spring, a picnic, a lazy summer afternoon outside. Hails back to old-school, reminiscent of Lolita's roots.

Btw, does anyone have that image of a lolita (iirc, from Tennessee) who did a cowgirl/Western spin on country lolita? Kind of long shot since it's from back when d_l was active, but I recall her wearing a cowboy hat and boots and a fitted vest.

I actually like it even if it's a little overdone.
I always though it was because country Lolita is more "outdoorsy" than other Lolita styles, if that makes any sense. It suits the aesthetic theme that country has Think of laying on the grass to take a nap after a picnic or watching the clouds go by on a summer morning.

I dunno I attribute "lifestyle" things to each Lolita style, where I know a lot of people don't like that. Even if you don't like that, using lifestyle imagery in photos makes for a more interesting picture and lets the model and setting seem more natural.

I'm totally new to Taobao and I'd love to get some of these hats. But the prices look too good to be true. It says some of these are only 50 yen or so? So less than a dollar in USD? That can't be right. I know other countries use periods instead of commas but it doesn't look like that's what's going on either. Are the prices in USD and just accidentally have a yen symbol next to them or? I know most things on Taobao are stupid cheap but this just doesn't make sense. I must be reading it wrong.
