I think I'm quite lucky when it comes to irl fans that I know, even though most of them are "shipping fujoshi", they aren't tumblr obcessive shit, they just happen to enjoy the pairings and behave like normal human beings. I've heard way too many cringe-y stories from other people though and the tumbr fandom scares the shit out of me.
My advice is to ignore the tumblr fags and strike conversation with the little few that are decent, many times they'll end up introducing you to other fans who are decent as well and you could make some cool friends. At least that was what happened with me, through one or two people at a con, I got to know several other more and last year we held a YP meet that was pretty chill and fun.

It really depends on the person. I've never done a genderbend cosplay before but I've been considering it. I'm pretty chubby and super short hair (that most anime guys have) really doesn't suit me because I need hair that frames my face nicely. I also have a pretty large chest (binding only does so much) and my hips and thighs are pretty obvious too. I'm not necessarily going to look amazing as a female character but I'm going to look awful as most male characters. I'm still not 100% sure on genderbending a character though because I don't want to look horribly lazy. And if I WAS planning on doing a genderbent I'd change up the outfit a little bit (a character with pants might change to a character with a skirt and maybe tights underneath) for example. And that wouldn't be lazy because I'd still be making everything (sans tights) but I don't want any of my cosplays to look last minute or poorly thought out.

Pringle Makishima girl, if you're reading this, ignore 4chan? If you say it doesn't affect you, just ignore it completely instead of posting about it non-stop so your followers can asspat you and say how amazing your makeup is? 4chan is full of harsh critique but it usually has a reason for it. You can keep doing your makeup the way you do but as you could read here, it doesn't really look good? It's way too exaggerated and doesn't resemble Makishima at all (the eye shape looks really strange and so does all that white under your eyes) and you can probably do better. You don't have to but why don't you give a shot at other ways to do it? Look up other cosplayers if you want, use pics of the character and try coming up with another way to do it? Criticism has a point, which is to make someone improve. 4chan is just harsh about it because.. well, it's 4chan.
You don't have to change anything about your makeup and shouldn't even pay so much attention to 4chan if you claim it doesn't matter to you and "haters are just gonna hate" but instead of being all offended about people saying your makeup doesn't look good (like the anon on ask.fm, who was quite mild about his criticism, from what I read?), maybe try and improve? If you don't like the "improvement" you can just go back to what you previously did. Take care.

Pringle Makishima, since you're reading and know I'm reading back, I really don't understand why do you keep coming back to 4chan to check on this thread? There's not even anything to find hilarious because nobody is even commenting on your makeup anymore so you're really just reading because it does affect you in some way.
And please do at least give a try at improving your makeup? Aside from the eyeshape and the white under your eye which I already mentioned, maybe improve the eyebrow shape? Since you cover yours, it's not like you have to guide yourself by your original brow shape so, maybe draw them smaller and like an upwards arch. Like I said, look up pictures of Makishima and try to mimick the shape of his eyebrows and eyes without overdoing it. That kind of super exaggerated "anime eye" makeup rarely to never looks good. If you like your eyeliner that big, then at least focus on making it wide and not going so low? It gives you really weird droopy eyes. Like I said, you don't have to change your makeup if you like it so much but it's not very flattering or accurate and trying to improve is never a bad thing. Even if you don't like the result and go back to your previous method, it's always experience you're earning.
You look nice on your last selfie btw, even though I personally am not a fan of the huge eyeliner. Maybe ask your mom to teach you some things? She did a nice job on your makeup. A little (more?) mascara would look good too.

Also Pringle, don't delete things when people were agreeing with what I posted and calling you out on your inability to accept criticism. It's a pretty immature behaviour and obviously reflects that you just want your followers to give you asspats. That person was being very reasonable and even said they support you in your art but you deleted that picture because they weren't agreeing with you or praising you.

Then it seemed like you deleted it for that reason, because you left all other posts. If you did deleted because you realized you could take advice, then my apologies to you and I'm glad you changed your mind.
Also, nobody is "hating" on your cosplay, people were basically just commenting on how they thought your makeup was bag (again, with 4chan harshness included). You're obviously free to do what you want and nobody is preventing you from doing what makes you happy, they were literally just talking crap about your makeup in particular.
Also, you keep proving that you really are affected by this thread. If you really mean it when you say it doesn't bother you, then stop coming back and letting it get to you. 4chan is mean, always was and always will be but deep down, there's a whole lot of people commenting harshly about others in hopes they can improve (one of the reasons 4chan is harsh many times is because whoever is in question keeps believing they don't need the criticism, like you were doing in the beginning).
So I'd advise you to calm down and really stop giving your attention to this place. Look, I personally have ben posted more than once, for good and bad reasons. So I filtered what I read here and used it to improve my cosplays. Of course it feels a bit bad in the beginning but I quickly decided to take the criticism and in the end, I DID improve my cosplay. It felt really nice.
Many people who are posted here know better than to pay 4chan any mind and just brush it off or take the criticism to improve so I'd strongly advise you to do the same and stop being bothered at what a bunch of people you don't know think of you.
