Alright, fair enough. I'm in decent shape, and I plan on cutting 3-4% bf before I do Souske. I'm just super autistic and want it to be accurate as possible more than anything. Also was just curious about the general consensus on male bodies not being accurate since I see female bodies not being accurate discussed fairly often. I personally think an accurate body, especially for a character known for being muscular/one in revealing clothing is just as important as the costume itself.

I think being in shape is important if you are cosplaying a character that shows a lot of skin. It would be weird to see say, a noodle man cosplaying Ace.

Also girls get shit on enough for not being completely perfect and in shape so I'm glad that guys have to put forth effort too.

To me a cosplay has to do justice to the original character, even if it means being fit/fat/whatever the character requires.

People surely have different standards and a lot of them do their cosplays just for fun but to me there's nothing less appealing than a skinny boy trying to portrait a buff and big muscular character.

I think being the right height and build is more important the larger/buffer a character becomes. If it's someone in a lot of clothing or not known for being big, crafting of the outfit becomes far more important (within reason, if you're cosplaying a slim character and are extremely fat, it just won't look good).

Girls tend to get more shit for this simply because characters that show more skin are usually female, and male characters that do typically have bodies that take a lot of training to emulate. If more guys were willing to cosplay shirtless/scantily clad males while not being physically ready, I'd think you'd see just as much bashing of them, especially on /cgl/.

I think you'd be able to do lots of buffer characters OP, and if you did cut 4% to like 8% bf, you'd be pretty popular, since to my knowledge there aren't any male cosplayers that are both buff and 6'4+

I'd come across so many other Free cosplayers who'd do things like wear tennis shoes, or a really off-color wig, if a wig at all.
Also, buying jammers from Tyr or leggings from emFraa with stripes that just happen to match the colors of their characters is surprisingly common.
Goggles around the neck is a nice touch, especially if you get one with lenses that match their color, too.

I think you're too bulky for any Free! characters who are all ottermode but you could pull off most of the characters in Jojo, Kenshiro from Fist of the North Star or Gamagori from Kill la Kill very well. Perhaps Armstrong from FMA but he's pretty pale.

I guess the quality of a cosplay hinges on how close you resemble the character you're trying to mimic, and that your appearance and build are part of this.

I actually enjoyed the second season a lot. First season was okay, but I liked the character development quite a bit in Endless Summer. I also related to Souske because I had to quit sports in college due to an injury. If I wanted to cosplay to get girls I'd probably do a generic shonen or a DC/Marvel character.

Getting fit, toned and sculpted takes a lot of time and work like any other part of a costume. However I'd prefer to see a more complicated outfit than a wig and bathing suit. But if you're costume is simple and mostly there to show off your body don't fuck those few pieces up.

This character hasn't been introduced in the anime yet but die hard fans of the series should recognize you. Sports animes are pretty easy to cosplay because they're usually team uniforms and I'd suggest finding a Hakone biking uniform online that can tailor one to your size.
