Pedal thread!

What places can you recommend to get decent quality jerseys?

What other outfits do you like seeing cosplayed/would you like to see cosplayed, since the cycling uniforms and the school uniforms seem to be the most chosen?

Bonus question, who's best husbando?

I got the "cycling jersey" version off Aliexpress:

http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Yowamushi-Pedal-shohoku-cycling-jersey-short-sleeve-cycling-clothing-men-Cycling-Bib-Shorts/1852137058.html

They pretty regularly go on sale for half off (which is closer to the taobao price) so wait for that to happen. I was impressed by the quality -- the shorts are a little see-through but I wear compression shorts under them anyway so it's not an issue. If you're particularly curvy the jersey top will pull a bit (it's made for a male body) but either sizing up or wearing something like the ultimate tank binder under it will fix that problem.

More people need to cosplay Makishima's fashion disasters tbh.

And Naruko is my anime child but Kinjou is my husbando.

Our first thought was those glorious orange jumpsuits. I wonder if it's just a coincidence that Yowapeda has similar art? But man, I wish more of our friends were into it so we could get a full group. I also kind of wish Miki was included, just because I didn't have any plans to cosplay one of the boys aah. Oh well!

I've met other cosplayers with the uniforms that closely resemble the real cycling kits and they all say the shorts are weird in the butt. They have that butt pad thing that feels and looks like a diaper.

I got my uniform on taobao and its the exact same one that is being sold marked up on ebay/amazon.
http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=a230r.1.14.49.4L841M&id=36625942381&ns=1#detail

This one is more of a cosplay rather than a cycling kit. it feels really comfy, simple and no complaints. It is a little bit thicker than the cycling kit uniform.

Well, that's because cycling shorts are actually padded. I will give you that it's a little weird and stiff because it's not the high-end gel padding, but it is accurate to cycling shorts. It does sort of do a weird buckling-in thing in the front if you don't have a penis, which is making me tempted to very slightly stuff the next time I wear it.

>> No.8282186

I have that one for Sohoku and I can't help but feel it seems a bit.. off? The kits with butt pad do look like a diaper but these ones just look.. weird because they don't have the diaper/don't feel like cycling uniforms. It is much thicker than the cycling ones and pretty comfy, that's for sure.
Also, I was dumb enough to just wash it normally and everything turned into a yellow and red spotty mess

Reposting this for the curious.

CosSky ones like >>8282162 are what I have.
> material is a thick, spongy synthetic athletic knit
> incorrect seams for cycling kits, but look good in photos and aren't too thin (less prone to showing panty lines, but still wear a thong if you can)
> colors and fonts are anime-accurate
> sized/cut for feminine frames

For the common bike-kit style ones like Mike's >>8282430
> often cheaper than cossky uniforms
> thinner material, print can tend to stretch and pale out
> can be worn as actual bike gear (has proper padding)
> typically sized/cut for masculine frames

Both have their pros and cons. Match to your group and double check your measurements before ordering, custom size it if you have to.

In honor to the Makishima girl, let's post good examples of Makishimas, being full cosplays or makeup tests (since the whole fuss about her was related to the makeup). Google, tumblr, instagram, worldcosplay, anything, search away

I think the first think that really makes your cosplay is being decently lanky. If youre chub or average its so hard to get the Maki feel. (But i mean if you love maki a lot by all means go ahead but dont expect to be the 'best maki ever')

Padding up the shoulders/torso area could help too. but very subtle and eye make up that makes your eyes smaller is definitely better than all that shojo make up

I can't help my height and I don't have a lanky bodyframe to begin with but Maki's my favorite and I really just cosplay him out of love for the character, so might as well do my best in the process.

Bless him.

no problem! Maki has relatively broad shoulders so I think it helps to create that contras as well as giving you a more 'male' frame.

Maki and Naruko are my faves (along with Arakita) but their body types are so specific I cant see myself cosplaying any of them (let along swear such tight outfits).

Good luck anon!

I've done it once for a different cosplay and it did help the overall sillouette, I have no idea why I never remember to do it again.

Arakita is also one of my favs! And they have other outfits that you can cosplay if you're not comfortable with the tight cycling uniforms? I personally am considering the school uniform and one of Maki's terrible casual fashion outfits, since they'd probably be a better option to "hide" my body shape.

Thank you!

Different anon, but also struck by how I've never thought of this. How did you go about doing it?

thats true haha, but the only definable thing about arakita is his eyebrows and growling face which, doesnt really help because i have a repetitively square face. Im happy just watching everyone else haha. School uniform could always be an option if i ever feel up for it.

Hm the one time I've done it I just added shoulder pads to the jacket I made. For YP I'll probably just end up sewing them to the shoulders of a white tshirt and wear it under the cycling uniform or so? I keep reading the cycling kits have somewhat thin and are slightly see through (still waiting for mine, my previous uniform was the non-cycling one but it had an accident), so I assume wearing something underneath will be better. It'll be sandwiched between the shirt and my binder's straps anyway
