I like pictures where cosplayers are interacting with each other, interacting with the environment, telling a story, or conveying a strong sense of atmosphere. Pretty pictures of a cosplay have their place, of course, and it's only natural to want to show off the details of your costume... but I've got a special place in my heart for pictures that aren't just glamour shots.

This is basically a hall shot with a forest backdrop. The model isn't interacting with the environment and looks kind of bored. There isn't anything creative about the angle or lighting. If you're going to go out of your way to self-post, your best bet is to post it alongside other relevant pictures and not lace the selfpost with over the top compliments.

Glamour photography is a composed shot of a still subject. Most of the time it crosses over to fashion photography to display and showcase pieces of clothing.

I like to think of storytelling shots as cinematic photography. You're shooting a human subject, yes, but they're posing in a way that implies they're in the middle of their story, like >>8286911.

And yeah, they can cross over, kinda like >>8285326 and>>8287127.
