I'm not sure what the color of the shoes is in real life, but based on the stock photo I am not sure they work with this coord. The dress, blouses, and accessories you've picked are all in warm tones whereas the shoes are a cooler tone. That slight difference might make the coord feel off when the items are worn together.

I'd personally go for a more country lolita look. That's what really goes with gingham anyways. I'd get a straw basket and a straw hat.

But if you wanna stick with this, I think I'd switch the shoes. Just not a fan of normal looking pumps although these ones are a little more dressed up - I don't think they're very lolita looking still and just don't fit with gingham. Some red tea parties would suit better.

Also, you don't need a blouse with an OP. That looks like it would sit pretty weird. Wear a bolero or something on the neck or both.

None that have been done well.
A girl in my old comm used to wear black cardigan-shoe combo and occasionally red cardigan-shoe combo over a white blouse.

The red looked ok, but if she had spent the time getting the red to match it'd look better. Here are two girls in the JSK.
I think you're just going to be stuck with the brown/cream/red/pink colour palette and will just have to get fancy with the textures and jacket cuts

The one at left is something I might wear. Besides the enormous shoe buckle, what is wrong with it? Am I just colorblind? The reds look like they match about as well as I'd think dyed cotton/printed cotton/vinyl can match. I'd be more concerned with the pairing of lots of ivory lace on the cardigan with the white lace at the bottom of the skirt.

For jewelry I'll prob just find some typical chocolate-related stuff, mostly rings and a clip/brooch since I think there isn't much room for a necklace with the jabot/bow on the blouse. Haven't found shoes I like yet but will try to get a dark brown that matches the 'bitter' color. For legwear I think I will try to find something in a brown similar to the color of the blouse - I thought it would be cute to use chocolate print tights but ones from mu-fish seem to be just too red for the coord? Though I see the MDC tights in mint up for sale somewhere. Suggestions:

- this bolero instead: http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=a1z10.3-c.w4002-9456756653.50.rbdOEB&id=17665410120
They have different options for the sleeves, so choose the fussiest-looking one.

- Lace gloves or armwarmers or fingerless gloves. Search for wedding gloves on taobao for good ones. If getting armwarmers/fingerless gloves, get a fancy manicure with stick-on gems, it really helps you look extra polished up close (otherwise, get lace gloves)

- Don't use that headband, the roses and the gold look too yellowish. At least get white roses and some matching navy ribbons from the craft store if you're putting together your own.

- You can make a veil from bridal tulle (navy or white), cut it to size and sew it behind the roses. If you can, sew lace on the edges to give it a polished look.

- Instead of headband and veil, you can also try looking for crowns and tiaras on either etsy or taobao. Alternatively, a bonnet would also take the look up to OTT, but a navy bonnet is much harder to find.

- Navy underskirt (Infanta has some with lace, Little Dipper without lace)

- Then top off with some large-ish jewellery. Anything with some non-clashing blue cabs would be a pretty good match for the dress, pearls are a good idea as well. Pic came from Etsy and seems like a nice touch for the artwork-themed dress. You'd need a necklace, bracelet and a ring at least.

I'm getting this dress in a trade and trying to figure out how to coord it. I'm looking at pictures on tumblr and google but the majority of the coords I see are either a trainwreck in terms of color and detail, or just super ageplay-looking.

How can I coord this more maturely? I put something together but I feel like I'm relying too much on red...this is a pretty specific color of blue and most of the accessories I find are either sax or navy (and earlier I already tried desperately to find appropriate royal/cobalt blue type stuff for another coord) and so I'm worried there's not enough blue, esp if I use red shoes (boots?) and a red bag.

I'd nix the ankle socks, all that will be visible is the lace, so it'll look like you're not wearing legwear.

I know IW doesn't take the best photos, but the lace on the dress seems to be offwhite while your ribbons, wristcuffs are all ivory, which I think might be a little jarring. If you can check whether the lace isn't as white as it looks in this collage, or throw on an ivory bolero that closes in front, then the difference in whites would go away. (also nix the headband with the red flowers if you do that, since the lace on that also looks offwhite).

The red flowers on the headband seem a bit too bright for the dress, if you can find some with a slightly softer pink, then change the shoes and bag so that they match each other, that makes a nice second coord for the dress.

Jewellery: since the neck is rather open and square, I'd go with a simple short necklace. something with pearls to match the wristcuff, or flower cameos to match the dress print, I think

Like other anon says, the blouse is the first thing that needs to go. Avoid anything with large peter pan collars. Large bows and frills also look "younger" as they are flashier and more flamboyant.

If you can get at least three major items to match, for eg- a navy bolero, navy shoes and navy beret, I'd totally go in for a blue x navy coord. The tights can be white, and you can tie back the bright blue by adding a bright blue ribbon to the beret (find the ribbon at the craft store and sew it to the beret yourself, eliminates the headache of trying to find an existing item with the exact shade of blue). I have two pairs of shoes here as the navy one that doesn't match looks more childish, while the one that looks more mature looks like it doesn't match. Ideally you want something that matches the bolero's navy, but in a more grown-up style.

For jewellery, I'd go with smaller metal charms rather than AP's resin jewellery.

Thanks so much for these very helpful notes! I really appreciate it!

The color for the dress (and the bright-pink headband, which IW seems to consider part of this "set", they have the same lace and grosgrain and model photos) is listed as Chocolat x Beige and there is beige in the print, so I'm hopeful there... doesn't help that the Taobao hat/cuffs pics have some kinda rosy filter on em. I'll start a hunt for an appropriate light bolero.

I've actually had IW dresses arrive in completely different colours than pictured on the website (they had a pearskin series where the navy is almost blue on the site and almost black irl, and on some of them, yes, the ivory lace can end up being washed out in photos, but it arrives as ivory). That's why I said IW doesn't take the best photos. So I think it's worth your time to ask around (try lolita general?) and see if someone can confirm the colour of the lace for you before you dash off to buy things.

I really like the navyxblue angle, and yeah I see what the both of you mean about the big collar. I'll do that, thanks! I might try blue/red in the future but with a different blouse/a little bib thing like you have pictured. (Is there a specific name for one of those?)

I'm stuck on this coord, help. I figured that the gold in the shoes would tie in with the gold in the wrist cuffs, the accents on the bag and the gold buttons on the jsk (you can't really see it on the stock photo). the shade of gold in the shoes works in real life, it's much less orange, but now I'm thinking that maybe it's too shoehorned in? And is the bag too sweet for the rest of the coord? I'm aware that there aren't any hearts on the print but I thought it would be a neutral enough shape to work, now I'm thinking it doesn't fit.

My major issue is legwear, though. I'm completely stumped. Any suggestions? I could switch the gold shoes for some black tea parties, if need be.

Black tights with the gold shoes would work, you could try lace tights or some kind of star-themed tights.

Have to admit I'm not really sure if this coord would work, the dress is listed as black and grey, so the gold and ivory blouse might be a bit jarring. I can't really say if it will be a mess or not though. I do suggest adding something gold on top, either as a necklace, or a brooch.

I'm pretty sure the ivory blouse works in person– like I said, there are ivory details on the dress, like the buttons, that you can't see in the stock photo; can't vouch for what other people might think when they see it, though. It's the gold I was unsure about. Sauce on those tights, by any chance? A necklace would be great, as well, I'll have a dig around!

if you're buying things for this coord, why not pick up a gold bag? that would tie the shoes into the coord way more, and since you've got the shoes already then you'd have a bag to easily match with them. i'd also go for a bow with more gold accents, too.

There's a number of shops on taobao selling those tights, use 星座 丝袜 to search for them.

I feel like the ivory works because of the gold, and the gold may in turn work because of the ivory, that's why I didn't recommend changing to a white blouse right off the bat. But it's certainly a colour combination that I imagine works better with the navy colourway than the black. Sorry I'm no help.

if you def want it to be a regular old school coord patterned tights/socks aren't really something in that aesthetic except for like, striped socks but you prob know how those are controversial no matter what the coord is or even if the main piece's matching socks are that way (like honey cake). if it's simply just old school inspired, like any coord just make sure you also balance the motif out somewhere else, such as a clock bag.

Thank you both for the advice.
I thought a bit about the friend who said she was dressing casual, and her "casual" is still rather OTT sometimes, like as OTT as you can make a pink sweater and an AP miniskirt for example. Like yeah you have pieces designed for casual but you kinda dressed them up a bit there.
So what I decided to do is to wear a simple black blouse to pull out Odile a bit (black swan) and removed the bow and overskirt.
Instead of wearing the big headbow I'll pin the smaller JSK bow onto the front of a simple bun probably.

Testing either ivory tights with black flats or black lace ankle socks with gold tea parties.

I would go for legwear that is the same color as the blouse, and then something with a floral pattern on it or something related to the print (sorry, can't really see what's going on there besides some flowers?) or something like these:

How are you stuck on this? There's only about a hundred different browns and yellows in addition to gold on that dress, you could do coords with anything in the spectrum between dark brown to ivory. All you need to do is make sure you don't accidentally slip in a whitish yellow or a cold brown in there.

And once you're done doing beige/ivory/cream/yellow/brown/ochre/dark brown combinations, you can try adding a warm accent colour into the mix -- bordeaux or wine, for eg.

The bag seems to match the gold of the headdress though. I don't agree with the anon that said the shoes weren't fancy enough, I think they're a great choice.

I really do think it's just the necklace throwing it off looking at it again, I don't think you need silver instead of gold, but the necklace definitely looks too warm toned I think for the other tones you have going on.

Hi there /cgl/, I'm planning on twinning with my friend next weekend and I just wanted some thoughts on the coords I had in mind. She's primarily sweet and I'm primarily classic, and I'm letting her borrow one of my skirts. I had an idea to have her wear ankle socks and wrist cuffs while I wore the gloves and tights, just to kind of push the sweet-styled thing for her.

Between the both of us we own almost everything in the picture, save for the ivory crochet gloves and the berets, which I'm planning on buying this weekend.

If the berets aren't a good idea, I have two boater hats I can decorate to match both coords.

The solid white blouse will be a more versatile addition to your wardrobe than the black. Th e cardigan is kinda cute but is it cream color while the shirt and print are both bright white?

The shoes aren't lolita or particularly loliable, they look like work shoes. The bag is a stretch but if you gotta carry stuff, you gotta carry stuff. The jewelry doesn't match at all. The ruffle on the socks looks like an ugly little pancake tutu around your ankle which is bizarre, better to go for boring white between the two of those.

If you don't want to buy "only for lolita" shoes (and I'm the same way), at least get something in black that doesn't have this steel-toe-workboot feel to it. Pic related.

Pretty much drop everything but the dress and maybe the cardigan. You managed to pick one of the ugliests BL blouses.

I found most everything on Bodyline or ebay. The tights are grimoire replicas.
You can get a normal beret and attach a bow to it, so you can do like black beret+sax bow, or whatever combination you want.
You can also just go with a headbow, I just like berets

For the wristcuffs, do I only use them with short sleeve blouses? I feel they would look awkward with longer sleeves.

I've already got a clack beret as well, so that helps. I'll probably keep it plain.

If you look around normal shops you can probably find some small bows that you can just clip onto the beret for a little extra.

This is an exceptionally rough outline of what I want to do with the JSK. I'm looking more at the casual/ easy outfits rather than anything fancy since there isn't anything on the horizon for OTT at the moment. I'm also waiting to see what the blue is like before I order some blue shoes.

The colors tones also match better in real life than in the stock pictures. However they may not work out when I can actually pair them with the JSK, so we'll see as we go.

Either a high collar blouse, or a low neckline blouse (hide the neckline under the jsk, essentially you'll be getting it for the sleeves).

You could also go with cardigans/boleros, if the weather is right for it, or short jackets (nothing too long as it would hamper the skirt's poof), *IF* on you can get the cardigan/bolero/jacket's neckline to line up so that they sit under the collar, or directly over it (so that they cover up the collar completely, I realise this defeats the purpose of having a sailor collar, it's just another option to wear the dress)

In terms of colours, you could easily do a monochromatic navy x gold with navy blouse and tights, gold shoes and bag.

Or, moving dangerously into navy x black territory, black blouse, tights and/or shoes, navy bag with some smaller gold accents. So long as you keep it clean, make it obvious that it's a dark blue x black coord, don't mix too many things in, it will look all right.

Or, bordeaux is a nice colour to match with navy. A dark red cardi and shoes, then white tights and hat/headbow would be pretty cute.

You can find white polka dot tights in normalfag stores like target in larger sizes. Which would look 10x cuter than just plain blue.
You either layer them both or just wear the white dots.

maybe try a pink blouse with Ivory tights and black shoes. Something with a texture, not just plain tights would look cute. Maybe lace pattern or just knit OTKs? Sorry to bother everyone here. I got one more question about the tights. Do the we love colors thigh highs work as OTKs for the larger leg type. There's one review on it that's like 5 years old so it won't hold up to today's items?

If you do blue shoes, I'd suggest white tights or OTKs so you don't end up looking like a blue blob.

>>8307695

Not really. It's a cool dark blue all over and then there's this one warm, light, yellow-toned brown bag. But, the photo looks incredibly washed out, so maybe the tone is a better match in person. That's why I said to look for owner photos.

Getting a new dress off taobao I wanted the pink x lavender colored one but it's sold out.
I don't own any sax.

I have a sax pegnior/ nightgown thing that has short fluttery sleeves that may work but just in case it flops i need a back up blouse cause i think my bodyline blouse is offwhite and would look terrible.
I also need legwear suggestions not OTK/UTK's i was thinking simple white tights and/or sax ankle socks. Any printed tights that might match?
lastly a bag.

Ditch that wig. It's horrible.

That blouse does not also look to of good quality and I think it might be better to use a pink blouse instead since you already have so much white going on in the JSK.

I would also go with different shoes. It may be my monitor but the pink doesn't go with the rest of the pinks and they look like shoes you'd put on a flower girl at a wedding.

The stars also feel a little out place as does the bear (ring?).

The blouse seems to be peach rather than pink, you might want to fix that.

For accessories, you can try closet child, yahoo!japan, mbok for some AP plastic jewellery.

If you don't want to go with anything from AP, you can try plugging "polymer clay"+ animal + necklace/bracelet/jewellery/ring into google's shopping tab or taobao and see if anything that matches the print and is the right size shows up. (pic is from etsy)

For headwear, I'd suggest doing something in black and then adding a smaller pink bow or two, eg - a black baret with pink bows pinned on, or a large headbow with smaller pink bows arranged in front of it.

Concrit on my DD/lg outfit? (yes I know it's separate from lolita fashion and I'm a retard for even suggesting that the dresses might be appropriate for my hobby and everything. I just want to look cute okay? It's not like I'm having nasty sex in the dresses or anything, just going out with my daddydom and I already have the salo which I do wear already as lolita so it's not a waste of a dress). Also no, I'm not trolling or whatever, I'm just trying to put together a damn outfit. So here are some questions I have about the outfit:

>How big can the tights stretch? (71cm thighs yes I know I'm a fatty-chan you don't have to say it and I'll be wearing very thick shorts underneath)
>Ankle socks or tights, or both?
>Which bonnet to use? I like the plain one since it's cuter but the Dreamy Baby Room one matches better.
>The MLP things are stick-on earrings and I'm not sure whether to use them or not.
>Can I wear twintails with a bonnet?
