Why does /cgl/ hate Milanoo so much?

Their lolita dresses really don't look that much different from brand dresses. In fact, they're pretty much identical.

Is there something actually wrong with the quality of them or are you lolitas just looking for a reason to bitch?

I'll bite the bait.

They are infamous, and have been for years. There are hundreds of horror stories of ignorant girls buying a dress from them, only to end up in tears. The quality of their fabric is almost like the lowest quality bedsheet, the craftsmanship is terrible, and the sizing is dreadful. (stuff like size 16 waist and a size 4's arms)

Granted, they have attempted to be better, but they haven't improved much. Even shoddy home made stuff from someone who doesn't know how to sew is still often higher quality than milanoo.

That's an Infanta dress. Milanoo stole the picture. If you order it, they will send you a cheap knock off that's very different from the picture. Either that, or they buy it from Infanta and then sell you the dress at a markup, without telling you its source. It's a scam.

I think that you are right in that they onsell Taobao brands. But they don't show which brand it is in the description on the item listing the last time I checked.

I think this is why some people are like "I HAD NO PROBLEM WITH MY ORDER YOU GUISE ARE JUST BRAND WHORES". The people who order from a legitimate Taobao brand actually get something good. The ones who order items of stolen stock pictures receive a shoddy mess.

I've never had a problem with my purchases off of there. If you KNOW how to shop with Milanoo, you CAN and WILL get good quality. If you don't know what the fuck you are doing then you are only going to get bad quality items. I have never had a single fabric item not be made of cotton or good quality fabric and for prop items I haven't had any problems with them either.

Most of their bad stuff you can tell right off the bat because of shiny materials in the photos. A lot of people do not read the materials lists. They do have good items, but like any site, you need to know how to shop properly before you purchase.

I can post items I have gotten if people want.

School uniform: Only problem with this was that the zipper on the skirt and the shirt broke super easy and I had to go to a tailor to have new ones installed. Milanoo likes using VERY small and flimsy zippers, but other than that the uniform was exactly like I thought it would be. Perfect school uniform material, not cotton, more like my private school jumpers I used to have to wear. Its real uniform material and it fits perfect.

Chii Ears: I got these on a whim as my very first purchase from Milanoo because I wanted to test out the company before I actually bought anything big from them. These are super nice. Not as shiny as the photo which I am super happy about. They fall off a little because they are attached to a white, but hot glue fixed that immediately. Fits well under a wig.

Black Dress: I got this as my second purchase. I was looking for a dress that I could alter and use as a base for Gumi from the song "I'm Sorry For Being A Closet Otaku". https://youtu.be/Sn0HFhrhKO0?t=1m45s

It was a good buy and the only thing I had to change from it was some ugly lace on the bottom of the skirt that I cut off [and it was sewn on the inside of the skirt, so it was super easy to take off and not have to cover up any mess]. I tried to find the image of the dress on the site, but since 4 years ago, its been taken off. Very soft cotton material, but not too soft that it falls flat. Nothing about it is shiny and it was exactly what I needed for the cosplay.

Black Catsuit: I also bough a black catsuit that was for Black Cat. The only issue about it is that I didn't get it custom made, so it needs a corset to pull the back pleather in so it looks more form fitting.. HOWEVER, by doing that it stretches it too much and gives one hell of a camel toe, so not going to be posting that one. I need to modify it, but I don't have enough experience with sewing to do that. It only cost $15.00 with free shipping at the time, so didn't lose much.

A lot of people who purchase off of there seriously don't look at materials used and go to super intricate outfits. The best way to buy off of there is to get simple things and modify them yourself. I got the school uniform before it was super pricey. http://www.milanoo.com/product/deep-blue-long-sleeves-cosplay-school-uniform-p12949.html

I also want to mention, if you plan to purchase from them, not only should you be super thorough in looking into everything about the the outfit, but you should also buy a size larger. If it much easier to take in an outfit than it is to let it out. I make this a rule of thumb for when I buy from anywhere. Especially overseas.

Im sorry if that has happened to you or someone you know or you are merely going off of horror stories, but out of every 100 purchases, Im pretty sure not every customer will have a complaint. There are seriously complaints from any site and all sorts of sites have had issues like Milanoo has had. The idea that Milanoo is the only website that people have had bad experience with is kind of a joke. A lot of negativity also comes from people who personally have not purchased from there or have purchased items far too complex to come in as seen in the photo. These people are idiots as is. If you want to be realistic about Milanoo then you need to realize that the more simple the item is, the less fucked up it will come.

This just isn't true. By the way your items look like shit. But the reason their items are so lacking in quality and the reason it's a gamble is because they have no quality control. They simply find the shop that will do whatever the item is for the lowest price so they can make the most profit, where as every other website, store and brand of anything has a dedicated tailoring shop they go to every time.

I'm not going to argue with you anymore, because you seem really naive and don't seem to understand that any complaints are red flags, and you shouldn't need to order something simple to make it easy for them, that's not how it works.

I tried so hard to politely and tactfully steer a beginner lolita away from Milanoo, but she would have nothing of it. She was also weirdly defensive of Milanoo. She was weirdly defensive of everything lolita.

I saw her once when she arrived at the mall on her bicycle. She got off her bike, took off her helmet and I cringed internally as I saw that she had been wearing her headbow under the helmet the whole time. I politely offered to straighten the bow, as it was more than a bit squashed and shitty looking (well, how good could Milanoo crap look anyway, but I thought I would help her out since she was new and kind of nice), but again she got weirdly defensive.

"aah, hahaha nah anon I'll leave it like this thanks."

I get that she may have had some personal space issues or the like that would have made her feel uncomfortable with this, I wouldn't care, at all, zero fucks. But you would think that if she did, she would have taken the bow off herself, inspected it, rearranged it and replaced it. Instead she tried to take ownership of the crappy looking bow as if having it look that way was her intention all along.

The ratio of "scam" to "legit" on Milanoo is ridiculous. If you lucked out, that's great, but acting like your luck makes the site magically much better than all the reviews claim, you're wrong. If you continue to regularly purchase from them, you'll likely get burned. It's only a matter of time, really.

Also no, not "all" sites have scam items. If you purchase off of Aliexpress, you have a lot of transparency: reviews of the sellers, plus you can look for reviews of the items online and usually find something to help you make an informed decision. Bodyline does not have "scam items" at all, and there are specific sellers on Taobao that are recognized as reliable, high quality, and low cost.

When I had first started cosplaying I made the mistake of buying from Milanoo. I ordered a pair of black leather boots for $50 and ended up receiving a COMPLETELY different pair of boots than was in the picture that were a size too large. The quality was also crap and the heel of the boot ended up splitting off on the first day of the con.
