Not ready for AN I've been putting off going out and getting things I need for weeks. I need something to motivate me, although knowing AN is in 50 days should be enough.

So hyped. I was planning on firing off a league cosplay last minute for saturday but I think I'll just fall back on an old costume because I spent too much on my teaparty coord. Is anyone else planning on entering the fashion show? I still need to take my photos and video to submit, though I seriously doubt BTSSB will choose me based on my measurements.

Winter term for school ends mid-month, so I`ll have time to finish my costume, hopefully.

Cosplaying Shin Megami Tensei IV`s Protagonist mainly. If I have the time I'll be making Kanie Seiya from Amagi but otherwise, I was thinking of bringing in Samurai Flamenco (1st outfit) as a comfy costume.

SMT is pretty halfway done, jacket and pants are done. Now I just have to do the inner garments. (The haori obi)

I don't mind Novii but I wish he wouldn't do such awkward shoops on people's faces. He erases Shiro's chin completely so she looks different in every photo, and adds shadows under people's necks so they look like they're extending their neck really far forward. Novii, if you're reading this... stop doing those things. If I were to shoot with you, I wouldn't trust you to leave my face looking anything like how I actually look. Some people might go for that, but others might think it looks like you're going out of your way to edit anything you'd consider a "flaw," including giving everyone super sharp animu jawlines.

AN had a major growth spurt in 2005-2006 and hired ANYONE WHO WOULD COME ONBOARD.

From what I can tell, it is poorly run because everyone is volunteers. You would be hard pressed to find someone with the professional experience and willing to work for free.

It has the potential to be much better but that usually involves increased price and a reorganization of leadership. Part of that means the current ones running things would have to step down and how many people would be willing to give that up for the best interest of everyone else?

Otakon has a democratic system, so there's that. Both are volunteer-run though.

Point is, you can't really "fix it" if the ones leading are only out for their own interests. Best you can do is not pay and support the ones you think are doing it right... Or start your own, but I doubt most people have the skills needed to do this.

All of the other cons in Canada are tiny, have equally as few guests and there's nothing really noteworthy about the panels. Based on what I've seen, It's often a phase for a lot of cosplayers who end up thinking that they're *actually* gender neutral just because they can pull off decent/convincing crossplays.
