Pardon the lack of recent photos, I've had to put cosplay on hold as I have been preparing for an overseas move. I'll be at Anime Matsuri this weekend doing some shoots for several I have not gotten any photos for.

I've lurked on cgl for about a half year and its concrit and blatant honesty is much more to my liking than hugboxes. My main goal is to create and improve.

I made the mistake of using Facebook's free ad when they offered it. I've contemplated deleting the page to make a new one so... yeah. The reach greatly depends on what type of picture it is and what you say. Facebook will prevent posts that try to get people to click away from FB and as such using ker phrases like "click here!" Or "contest" causes the reach to be next to nil. Full body photos with face do best whereas photos of something lying out do worst.

I actually experiment a lot with post styles like this in an attempt to better advise others on their own audiences.

Okay guys. So recently I started getting a huge surge of followers, maybe like 400-500? Throwing my page into 1k+ followers within the two weeks.
I wasn't even active over the past half a year, and I have like a total of 3-ish cosplay in total since I made my page last May. I'm not pretty, I don't post WIPs, I don't interact with my followers, my cosplays are bought online, I don't do anything special.
I'm still getting the same amount of likes on my pictures as when I first started: 10-20 ish likes per post, mostly from my friends.
I'm really afraid of being accused of buying likes or promoting all over the damn place because I don't, and honestly I would rather have a small cosplay page with a hundred followers that I can interact with than 1k+ followers that are basically dead.

At what point did you guys decided that you wanted a cosplay facebook page? Why do you have one? Are you trying to branch out into acting or modeling, or are you just trying to keep all of your weeby hobbies away from your normal-fag friends?

I just decided I wanted one this weekend because photographers kept asking for a place to link back to. Before that, I avoided it because I felt it was sorta unnecesarily turning my making-things hobby into being a "cosplay personality"? Previously I just had them link to my personal blog which is unpolished general tumblr weebliness and not really representational of my work as a craftswoman.

But now I see that as I start actually wanting to hire photographers and keep in contact with people I meet, it's nice to have a separate facebook dashboard just for all that.

That said, how did you all start out your pages? Is it normal to populate your profile with photos of older work? How do you move past the awkward talking-to-yourself phase? Should I even try if I don't have photoshoots that aren't on convention grounds?

It's no real shame that you're going to talk about yourself as you are the end product of the page. As long as your spacing out updates and not doing shit by the hour such as updating that you're leaving to buy materials, then a self next to the materials you bought in the checkout line and then another self with you making the stuff, you'll be ok.

Topics that other cosplayers use that are socially acceptable

- Posting WIP photos (use this sparingly)
- Create cosplay tutorials
- link to other FB pages you follow and give them the spotlight (bonus points if that they're not in your close circle of friends so it doesn't look like circle jerking
- Do the same above with photographers
- Finished photoshoots
- Convention schedules, plans and costume line ups
- The occasional throwback photo

The ideal pages for me that have meaningful updates spaced out and take time to build and share with the community and just go "me me me" all day

The first cosplay we did together after deciding to become a group was My Neighbour Totoro, and we joked that we hadn't made our costumes but had got an army of soot sprites to make them for us.

Somewhere in the post-con delirium we decided that that was exploitative and that obviously after being abused in Spirited Away the soot sprites needed a union.

Thus, Soot Sprite Workers' Union Cosplay was born.

Does anyone know where that Ibrahim Demir (aka yuukisama4 (url),Yuukina Kotobuki) guy went? He's gone from FB since yesterday??
He was some "kawaii" turkish dude who dressed as a girl sometimes,he was not homo tho. He would add tons of people to get praised,post pics every.single.day. Sometimes he would wrote "lol uglyugly" on a pic and then post a trap pic and say (no joke) "I WOULD SO DATE MYSELF IF I WAS A GIRL WHY DO I LOOK SO PRETTY AS A GIRL" along with kawaii emojis everywhere. He would get praised by every single fujoshit and girl for being a "kawaii uke","cute trap","perfect boi" and if you said something negative he would post in kawaii emojis about how people were envious of him

I'm trying so hard but I can't get past 50 likes. Probably because I didn't post anything new since I started the page last month (but hey, there is a girl on my comm with 50k+ likes and she only has 5 cosplays because sex sells!) but god it really is awkward.
