What's your body type and how does it help or limit your cosplay/lolita?

Also yes I know this chart is kind of dumb since the girls are mostly copypastas of each other with hair swaps in the original sources.

Started this mostly because I'm frustrated with my "violin hips" or whatever they're called. This isn't me but basically what I have. I've lost a ton of weight and have been looking forward to doing less frumpy cosplay but hip bones are shaped in this dumb way that makes it look like I'm muffining even though there's no chub there.

My body type isn't really meant for cosplaying or lolita.
I have an hour glass figure, I'm short, and pretty darn chubby. Not so fatty chan I could be a ham beast, but definitely not skinny enough to pull off half of these fashion. If I lost about 30-40 lbs, I'd probably be perfect.

As far as cosplay, yeah, I cosplay characters that don't fit my body type, but I'm not doing anything revealing or super tight or anything. I know how to dress for my size and what kinds of outfits make me look good. And I know it's cheesy but I do cosplay for myself. 40-34-49 iirc. I'm pear shaped. Gained weight over our long winter but meh. As far as cosplaying goes I've never held the desire to cosplay skimpy characters and I tend to like characters who dress with poofy skirts and wear long sleeves.

I don't really think finding cosplays that can be adapted to my body type is a gigantic issue anymore. Animators are extremely less conservative about drawing a singular 'type' anymore and there's a variety of marshmallow characters to choose from, especially in western cartoons. Pic related, was going to make the bf wear a Puppycat gijinka.

I feel more sorry for guys though. Seems like their choices bounce between extremes.

Just gonna post it because why the fuck not.

Im in the boat with large thighs, larger upper arms, bit of a chubby stomach. It sometimes does limit my cosplay because unless I wear a skirt I just don't exactly feel too pretty? I dont like my thighs at all and I get antsy when I wear shirts. Ive tried all I can with triathlon, elliptical, weights.. Everything. Those two places just WONT lose that fat.

This has limited my cosplays to things with long sleeves and either the legs completely covered [pants/dress] or wearing skirts. Or kigurumi. I have broader shoulders too compared to most girls.

I take after my dad's muscle build [minus the height] and he's a body builder. : | Im not though. Clearly.

I used to weigh 246 but have lost 98 pounds over the last 2 yrs by eating better and walking. Almost at 100 and looking to go down to about 130.

As for my body limiting my lolita and cosplay choices when I was bigger I never considered lolita because there was no way brand would ever fit me. Not sure if I could no with my current measurements. Still might be too fat. And for cosplay my larger size just made me pick costumes that was covered and as flattering to my figure as it could be on a fatty. I didnt necessarily limit myself to only fat characters but did stick to garments with more structure I could add boning too or cover my arms, legs and gut. Now however because of stretch marks left behind from being a fatty chan I dont think I would ever attempt showing off my belly but more options have opened up that I would have never felt comfortable doing before.

I am honestly built like a wide board with boobs. I have really broad shoulders/a broad back, and my thighs/legs in general are kindof big, both from fat and from muscles I developed from being an athlete from like age 11 to 18. I carry very little fat on my stomach or hips but get chubby in my limbs and lower back. Basically I'm a rather squat person.
I can fit into most brand with little issue, but it sometimes looks weird because my waist isn't defined. I also feel self conscious about how wide my back looks at meets/in photos, as silly as that sounds. Finding blouses that fit me in both shoulders and bust/waist can also be a bit difficult.
I like that lolita hides my thighs, back chub, and lack of ass, though.
I'd like to start working out again and lose weight/a few cms, mostly to feel healthier and better about my appearance.

For those trying to lose weight look into a low carb diet. I've done it on and off for the last year and lost 20 lbs the first time and 10 the second and now I'm on my third before summer hits. I'm better at cooking for myself now then when I started, but for fast food and having a social life it can be tough. Luckily Jack in the Box doesn't even blink when you ask for 4 eggs scrambled or a burger with no bun (in a bowl) at 1am. I find it easier than counting calroies and after a little while I stop craving carbs, it's awesome.

Another tip for people not wanting to go on a low carb diet, get the app MyFitnessPal. It helps me a lot. It scans barcodes of things you eat, has all restaurants, etc. Itll tell you, after you sign up for the app, what your daily intake should be as you lose weight, so you are always on track to the goal you set.

I found this so much easier and really put what I ate into perspective. Even lets me input when I go to the gym and it deducts calories based on what you do. I haven't touched fast food in 4 months and this app helps me a ton.

Hi boobloaf. Causes so many issues in lolita. Also short torso, not much room between hips and ribs, so anything smaller than a 28" waist is out of the question and I will probably have abs showing by that point (actually probably starting to show a teensy bit the time I hit 29-30")

I would love to wear MM and other classic brands. But I'd hulk out of it.

Work makes me bulk up more and if I don't lift and put on pounds by just looking at anything with sugar in it. Fuck you body.

As far as cosplay goes (don't wear lolita), I feel limited when it comes to sexy characters, when those are usually the ones I want to cosplay. Don't got the goods for it

Same. I often go for kiddy sizes then feel weird because my boobs are often too big to fit, but are comparatively smaller than bigger/taller girls. I've taken to altering cheap kid's clothes/Bodyline (low risk) 5ft (most dresses look like a sack/tent on me) and 130lbs. My legs and ass are too thick for cute jfash or it just looks like I'm sexualizing outfits where the skirt doesn't ride up so much or the shorts aren't so tight on a skinnier girl. Pencil skirts ride up ridiculously because of my big quads and leggings/tights are always tight on the middle of my thigh but saggy between the thigh and butt and above/below the knee. Jeans that fit my ass and thighs often don't fit my waist, so I get a bigger size then all of me looks fat.

It's good for the characters I do, since my face is fairly round and sweet looking, so I do a lot of lolis and nice girl types. Unfortunately, I usually hate those characters and the tropes they come with, so I end up cosplaying characters I don't really like. I'm sure it would be pretty decent in crossplay, if my face could pull it off, since I have no defined curves at all. I've been trying to branch into curvier characters, though. since I found out I can corset my waist down to around 21 inches and do some intense padding of boobs to give myself a more curvy figure.
For jfashion I can pull off most styles, since I fit into "one size fits all" type clothing. Brand is kind of big on me, but I just tie the waist ties tighter and it's usually okay looking. Never boob loafs though, which is a relief.
I worry a lot about my weight still, since I'm still above average asian girl weight. Most of the girls on taobao are around 45 kg and most of my friends in past years were less than 105lbs while still being taller than me. My mom always tells me my legs are really fat and I have a shit ton of stretch marks, though I haven't done any drastic gain/loss, so I'm really aware of my weight (though I don't really try to lose weight unless I'm planning to do some kind of skimpy cosplay)

I've been waiting for this thread for a loooong time....
Anyway, I used to be pretty overweight but I've dropped about 20-30 pounds in the last few years, but I still feel really pudge-y.

I'm 5'4" and 126 pounds, and my measurements are 35-26-35.

I found the pic off of mybodygallery, it's basically what I look like (except this girl looks like she's sucking in her stomach a bit, I mean I don't blame her but...).

I was just wondering if I could pull off a Kill la Kill-esque costume or if I should just wait until I drop about six more pounds....

I remember I began losing weight at the age of 3. By 10 I was already well over 220 lb.
When I was 19, at around 298 lb, I was looking into gastric bypass surgery. In fact I completed all of the pre-surgery stuff but I backed out in the end due to losing weight on my own.
However, no matter what, I couldn't lose much weight at all and it was super hard for me to maintain weight once I reached a point. I was also super obsessed with caloric count to the point I didn't look at food, only at calories.
After that I put on a bit of weight (I am at 257 lb now so still way less than back then) but I decided to look into what the fuck was wrong with me.
And then I found out I have lipedema. I had to go to a physiotherapist which diagnosed me as soon as he saw me. My mother has lipo-lymphedema which is due to her untreated lipedema.
So basically no matter how much weight I might lose, my legs and arms will remain fat cause my fat cells are sick.
At least now witht the treatment I can have a better life.

If you think you're fat now, you'll still think you're fat at 100 or 90 pounds, ladies. Either that or you'll find some other physical "flaw" to have shitty self-esteem about. You'll wonder why you're at your ideal weight but your thighs still touch, or that your arm flab won't ever truly go away.

I've just never seen such a narrow chest so I'm curious to how it looks.

Nuts, avocado, cheap cuts of beef(including hamburger meat), bread, peanut butter(go for the unsweetened kind and pair with honey to make it nice), then add fried mushrooms and peppers for flavour along with whatever fruit, spices, and condiments you like.
Not cheap, but cheese especially goat cheese will add a lot of flavour to your salad.

For lettuce buy spinach or kale; romaine if you want wraps, iceburg lettuce is basically water.

I have a terrible sweet tooth so I usually make a lot of granola bites at home.
You get a bag of mixed seeds and nuts, some rolled oats, honey and pure cocoa powder (I use the regular Van Houten). You can put whatever you want in there - cashews, sunflower seeds, peanuts, pistachios, almonds etc. Then you mix it all in a bowl, spread over some cooking paper, put into the oven for 5-10 minutes and then into the fridge and you're done.

I like those because they're quite filling without being full of thickeners and all that other stuff that doesn't benefit you.

Protein shakes are also a good snack, and you can get more recipes from websites like blogilates and scooby's workshop (inb4 /fit/faggots)

For actual meals there's thousands of recipes, but I would focus on eating more smaller meals in a day (this doesn't mean snacks only!) rather than one big meal with a big pause in between. Just eat when you feel you can.
I'm looking for some good vegetable-based recipes myself, one I've really liked so far is the Greek spinach pie (spanakopita). I like to pack it with spinach really densely and sneak a little cheeky broccoli in there as well.

I'm mostly leg, which is nice for shojo characters, and flat-chested. I also have a pretty severe face structure with Bitchy Resting Face, so androgynous and harsher heroines are my ideal. I'm also okay at crossplay as long as the outfit sufficiently disguises my hips.

Sometimes I'm sad that my height and face prevent me from cosplaying cute girls, but then I remember that there are so many badass women and girly men to choose from.

All the skinny people I know, even the ones who don't have the healthiest diets, don't eat a whole lot. They don't eat unless they're hungry and stop eating before they feel full. Larger people do the opposite.

It sounds like you probably have a wider frame or have more muscle on you. You're probably thinner than you think, the number on the scale doesn't mean anything. 125 is a good weight for your height and I wouldn't stress about going lower.

I started lifting a few times a week a year and a half ago. My back and shoulders have gotten a lot bigger, so I find it difficult to fit in women's shirts these days; they're too tight across the chest, when the hips were previously my problem. >broad shoulders, wide upper arms, long arms altogether and skinny ass wrists
>pretty narrow underbust, 29" and long torso
>22" thighs, muscular calves, but if I cover my legs at around mid thigh I can create the illusion that they're a lot more slender than they are.
>hip measurement is all butt, actual hip bones are narrow.

I think that just about summarizes my body. All in all, I usually look a bit rectangular. there's some things I will always mourn, like the fact that narrow hip bones + large thighs means no tiny gap at the top of my thighs. I also wish I could get my waist a lot smaller, but a narrow ribcage makes it harder for it to look smaller in comparison, even when it gets smaller in measurement. I've kind of come to terms with it though. also, I think fat distribution in people's bodies is really interesting. I can have protruding hip bones and every rib visible while still having huge thighs and a bit of flab on the belly. Bodies are weird.

I can fit into most brand quite comfortably (maybe MM is still out of reach. Eventually though). As for cosplay, the few characters I've liked enough to cosplay I match in body type fairly reasonably. I do feel a bit self conscious, esp. when a character will be described as "SOOOOO slender" because I don't see myself that way, but eh. I'm also not sure how well I'd be able to pad my bust for characters with large breasts. For characters with small breasts, a sports bra is enough to flatten me adequately.

well, now that I've poured out all these feels about the way my body usually is, I can't really worry about it because I'm pregnant right now. I still wear lolita semi-comfortably thanks to shirring, though bodices will look ill fitted of me. funnily enough, because my bust ballooned to a 30E in the first few months, boobloaf was a problem way before my bump had a chance to be. I miss my 30Cs but I don't think I'll see them for a while.

I cosplay chubby/round faced characters and designs with fluffy skirts. I've done a few cosplays with shorts but I'm less comfortable in them. I'm fortunate a lot of my fat is in my butt and thighs instead of my stomach or waist.

i went from 103lbs to 93lbs by running 3-8 miles every day. it made me drink way more water and made me less hungry... so you can definitely lose weight running. maybe you burn more calories per hour doing other things, but that doesn't mean running does nothing.

my bf put on 30lbs when he stopped running 10+ miles a day and cut back to 5 miles or less.

I'm inverted triangle and it sucks for lolita because most jsk cuts just make my shoulders look wider and most brand OPs and blouses don't fit there either. I know burando isn't the be-all, end-all but still.

Bust, waist, hip is 36-25-34 iirc
Also kind of salty about thigh gaps, I've been down to 103 lbs and didn't have one.

I fluctuate between 122-126lbs depending on the time of the month. I figure I'm closer to a pear shape since I have bitty titties. Can't really complain about the chest size since I can fit into most of my lolita dresses well. My waist swings between 26-28 lately, which has made fitting into non-shirred pieces a real pain at times.

Very much pear shaped.

I gained the 13lbs recently (used to be 102) and have been struggling alot with the weight recently as it all went to my egg pouch (the area right above the pubic bone), ass and thighs.

Lolita sorta helped as it covers these problem areas but lately Ive noticed some things fitting a bit tighter (waist used to be a 25) and its just beating me down. I never really worried about my diet or exercise and now that Ive become so accustomed to being lazy I have alot of trouble motivating myself to start making better decisions and move my butt off the bed. I feel terrible telling people in my real life about my weight issues because they usually bawk at me and go on about how they wish they were thin like me or how I'm stupid to think Im getting fat.

pear shaped, I guess.

I have huge thighs and calves from years of figure skating. I wear juniors size 10 pants, but size small shirts (depending on the store). I really hate my legs and I feel like I can't look good in anything except maxi dresses because of them. I like lolita because it covers up my thighs (and arms). I'd like to cosplay, but I don't have the confidence to. I feel like I'm not skinny enough to cosplay the characters I like, and I don't have enough boobs to make up for it.

To make things worse, I have a total babyface. I'm in college, but I still get asked if I'm old enough to sit in the exit row on airplanes. That, combined with my lack of boobs and massive thighs, makes me feel like no guy would ever find me attractive.

I lift a lot, and I've been working out for years, so I've built up pretty okay definition. I stick with adult characters, generally fighting characters because I have a serious case of man-arms, to include forearm definition.

There was a time when I wanted to do cute lolita fashion, but I realized I couldn't fit into the dresses without actually being mistaken for a man.

I'd love to do stuff like Korra, but I don't like her attitude and all the times she proves overly strong and still helpless.

Fat is literally a thing in everyone's body and you need some of it or you will die. You HAVE fat, you cannot be fat. The amount of fat you have is classed in categories, i.e. underweight, healthy, overweight, obese, morbidly obese. Generally speaking someone who is a bit overweight is can still be healthy, they just have more fat stored in their bodies because that's how their bodies work. Just like someone who is in the "healthy range" can ironically be unhealthy.

Even when I was anorexic I was still thick as fuck which drove me crazy- I only lost weight off my tits after a while. And my ribcage is pretty narrow (28in and bra cups are never close enough together) so my 22-24 inch waist doesn't stand out all that much until I corset down to 18

And wow, I feel your pregnancy boobstoo . I was teased at school for being flat chested, then all of a sudden I got 30DD/Es and the blouses that fit the rest of me started straining/gaping...

I am so fucking jello of those hips, anon.

I have a very broad chest with a narrow waist but wide hips with a very high hip flare, similar to the third one from the right of the top row. It makes my abdomen look like a square and my flat small ass just worsens it. I feel as if no clothes compliment my figure and I look like a box in everything because my ribcage is very wide, but my tits are small. And the high hip flare makes me look really bulky. Even though I've lost weight and toned my body, the flare is still my worst problem because it's not going to disappear. What the fuck am I going to do.
