I'm reading conflicting information about lactic acid masks/peels- I'm lactose intolerant and assumed that as that has to do with the gut, lactic facial treatments would have no effect but I've read a few things claiming they've led to skin irritation/breakouts. Any experience?

Skin irritation will have nothing to do with your lactose intolerance, just whether you have sensitive skin. Lactose intolerance is because you can't digest the sugar, ain't any of that happening on your face, and the chemical compounds are completely different

Can anyone recommend some good wrinkle creams? I'm looking for treatment rather than prevention - my undereye area is beginning to break out in fine lines when I smile.

>tfw I'm only 24 and dealing with this shit

>> No.8205418

I've been following the skin care threads for a while and this week I decided to take some tips and put them to use.
I have acne and lots of scars from it and other skin problems I had when I was younger. I can deal with most scars but the constant acne breakouts were becoming too much of a self esteem killer. Whenever I managed to dry out a breakout and it began to heal, a new one would be surfacing.
I've tried loads of different creams, cleansers and scrubbing creams. After reading about witch hazel and 100% tea tree oil (I used tea tree oil before but it was always products with it), I picked up some in the begining of the week (so, a couple days ago). Also picked up zinc & castor oil cream.
I don't know if I'm just being too hopeful but my skin already looks and feels so much better in just two days..?? Is this is even possible? On monday, the pimples looked infected as hell (some were more like open wounds, since I have the horrible habit of trying to pop them. Trying my best to stop), red, pretty big bumps. Today (wednesday), they are red but only a little, no bump, no white head, pus, anything, they're visibly healing. I can't feel any new bump yet either.

It's probably way too early to take any conclusions so fast but it makes me feel pretty happy that in just a couple days my skin feels so much better.

Thank you cgl

I didn't have much of a routine these past couple months, everything I tried just wasn't doing anything. The only thing from my previous "routine" that I use is a gentle face scrub from Neutrogena, once a week.
Like I said, I only started on monday (so it's early to say this really works for me 100%) but I've been using the witch hazel to clean my face and apply the tea tree to pimples, in the morning. I've applied the tea tree again on the pimples that were more severe again in the afternoon, when I get back home. At night, I've been cleaning my face once more with the witch hazel to get rid of any dirty accumulated during the day, before going to bed and apply a thin layer of zinc & castor oil cream right after and leave it to sink in through the night.
Now I'm going to see how my skin keeps reacting and adapt the routine. My priority was to dry out and speed up the healing process, which succeeded.

I have some heavily settled black heads that have probably been there for years.
I've tried biore strips, home honey +cinnamon, honey +milk, cotton strips remedies.
Certain scrubs, homemade sugar scrubs, ect.
None of it is seemingly taking care of it. Now that i've been to the derm. my face is all just but healed except for my hairline scars. Should I wait to go back to the derm. and see if she has anything for it? Or is there something I haven't tried yet?

biore strips acutally tears off a layer of skin thus making more space for blackheads. The ways I got rid of my black heads is to steam your face then carefully squeeze them out. Let the face cool down and apply ice to close the pore. Also in the shower I use an apricot scrub and just on my face in general and it works miracles.

If you're wanting to try something cheap and figure out what you need to do to conceal I suggest E.L.F's all over cover stick:

It's cheap and works pretty well, as long as the skin under your eyes isn't super dry. It creases a bit but if you don't cake it on you're fine.
That being said it's not as good as high end products but it's pretty good and doesn't oxidize or clog my pores.

I just bought HadoLabo HLA cream and it's probably the best cream I've used. I have really dry skin constantly but it's made it so much better in just a few days, and just looks more plump and glowy. I also got DHA Pore Cleansing Oil which is probably helping. It's not great if you're just using it as a make up remover, but it feels really nice and I think it's helping with not drying my skin out.

I also got a couple creams from my sister by a brand called Carley, they use essential oils and stuff. The Daytime and Midnight moisturizers for acne prone skin seem to be helping a lot, and the green tea spot cream is awesome.

Just waiting for the Tonymoly panda eye sticks from Ebay now, and Cure Natural Aqua gel. Anyone ever use either of those?

Samples! You can buy a week-ish worth of samples for cheap to try. Or read reviews online just like with any other skincare product. There's a good market on reddit for reselling non-contaminated products that just didn't work for you. Korean skincare is at least a decade ahead, scientifically speaking, than the rest of the world, and Japan is working to catch up. I'm sure it's not good to do this, but with small ones you pop them and they go away with no fuss. Big ones would turn to a red bloody mess, but small have a drop of blood, if even that.

That doesn't get rid of the cause, though. Have you checked if any of your products are comedogenic? Check all the ingredients of your products. It might be the sunscreen causing it, so start there. Make sure your cleansers can remove all of the sunscreen and not leave residue.

Red meat has stuff for collagen and skin repair, can't remember what it is exactly sorry - do you avoid red meat by moral or do you just hate the taste? Red meat is the easiest way to get Zinc btw, and zinc gets talked about a lot here for skin health. Record your eating habits on Cronometer for 5 days and see where you are deficient - you'll be surprised.

I dunno tho, eating just rice + 3 different types of vegetable plus one fruit seems worrisome, unless you are just generalizing a more varied diet.
Like I would skip one of those bowls of rice and swap it for a large salad - mixed greens, plus a boiled egg, shredded carrot, tomato, vinaigrette and halved grapes or pineapple pieces if you're a weirdo like me. Put in tinned beans (not the saucy baked kinds of course), or fish to shake it up from the normal egg protein. Its cheaper too, which I can gather from your diet style would suit you.

Other cheap but nutritious things you could add:
>Spinach
(packs of them you can buy frozen for a buck, just dunk in boiled water to defrost since they're already cooked)

>Nutritional yeast

I have it too.. and yet to find a product that doesn't make my skin look or feel distressingly greasy. The only ones I think I have had success with came from samples - one from Tony Moly called Appletox (I ordered this in to find out for sure) and this kinda pricey one from France I can't remember the name of, but it has a butterfly on it with minimalistic white packaging. Sorry tho, hopefully someone could have a more solid answer than me.

Hey guys, I have a problem. My skin is way darker in the purple zone and in the red zone I get pimples but is not that bad. But I'm really worried about the purple zone, I heard that maybe exfoliating my skin with a sugar scrub would help, any ideas?

Use a vitamin E cream or oil and a gentle chemical peel on those areas. That is very common, everyone in my family has it, and it's usually due to chafing (elastics, bra straps, sweat, frequent scratching, sitting in a particular way). I also have darker skin below my bellybutton and in the folds between my leg and groin, which is from wearing tight underwear.

Unfortunately not all of these things may work for you, but give it a try. Moisturise with cocoa butter afterwards too.

I used Sally Airbrush Legs which is like a spray on pantyhose today for my entire bottom half but I didn't end up wearing my costume I was going to put that on for. So i wore pants over it without washing it off for the majority of the day. I finally got home and took my pants off, took a shower to properly rinse it off, and now the front of my legs are irritated. Just the shins though. It's a hand length of light red dots. Should I be worried ? should i let my legs breathe by going to bed pantless tonight and tomorrow ?

Yeah, I am not a doctor but I have a feeling when you shave your shins as compared to the rest of your leg (which has more fat on it) your blade goes over it and makes it more sensitive.
But who cares about what some anon thinks the reason is - I agree, go pantsless to let them breath.

Ok, so konjac sponges are my life. I got one for like five bucks and after a month of using it my skin is literally two tones lighter. I also homemade a lightening cream with rosehip and lily oil, vitamin E and and a light concentration of AHA with green tea as water phase and god, my skin as never been smoother. It's usually really dry and eczema prone, even with drinking a lot.

Not sure if this belongs here or in a make-up thread..
Two years ago, my skin started to go bad. We know today that it's hives (if that is even what it's called in english?), but in the two years I've had this problem, my doctor and skindoctor has made me try out tons of acne medicine cause they were convinced that was the problem.
None of it has worked and has only fucked my skin up even more. Today it just looks like mild acne.
We still have no idea what has caused it, so all I can do is smother my face in moisturizer to keep it from getting dry and eat pills to stop the itching.

Now that the intro is over with, here's to the question part.
I'm a make-up newbie, I'm blind on one eye which makes it hard to apply anything too fancy, so I only ever wear it when I cosplay, and I only ever stick to foundation, powder, mascara and eyeliner.
Since I wear it so rarely, it's all cheap shit but I'm more than ready to replace it with quality stuff.

I'm in dire need of a foundation or whatever else there is, that will make my skin look smooth, even close up. My skin is pretty sensitive, and it takes nothing to make it looks grainy and greasy. Liquid foundation probably isn't what I should go for next, but it's the only thing I've really ever used, so I'm at a loss here.

Hoping to get some tips...

I normally don't wear make up, but i've recently started cosplaying and helping friends out with photoshoots (learning photographers who need someone to "model" i'm shit at it but it still involves make up). Even after a just a few hours my skin gets really dry/itchy and that evening/next day I get tonnes of pimples.

Is there some way to help prevent this, or something to do after I remove the make up?

I would ask what type of make up is best, but I normally don't have much of a say since it's whatever their make up people are using, but if there's types of make up that I could ask they use that might make it better that would be brilliant.

Currently battling about a dozen pimples between my eyebrows and all over my nose and chin thanks to a shoot a few days ago and it's driving me insane.

I'm kinda new to nice skin care routines, considering my skin is super sensitive and even "acne eliminating" makeup makes me break out. Toast has been a staple of my diet practically since infancy, so I know how it is. Regular grocery store bread has an imperial fuck ton of sugars, oils, and preservatives so it's like dropping an atom bomb on your guts if you want to clear your complexion. I can't live without toast so I buy pic related, which is usually six dollars a loaf, but it's genuinely nutritious and doesn't deflate like an accordion when you squeeze it, so a slice is much more filling.

If you can't do without the bread, definitely cut back on extra sugar in the rest of your diet. Most packaged foods have added sugars so if you're not a label reader you should look into that. Corn syrup, cane sugar, and dextrose are the most common things you should avoid.

Drinking plenty of water is also key. Eating yogurt may help, but not if it's full of sugar.

It can present itself as white, red or tan/brown heads as far as I know and there's different types. Basically your body produces too much keratin and it makes little plugs in your hair follicles and more often than not causes ingrown hairs. I know exfoliating after a very long hot bath will help, as well as using lactic and salicylic acids and vitamin E/D. It can clear up by itself but it takes years. I've had it on my arms and legs since I was 10 and my arms cleared up when I was about 17 with no help.
Just treat it very well and nurse it along and it should heal up faster, make sure to apply sun screen on exposed skin as to not make it worse. Good luck!

It sounds like you're allergic to something in their makeup or that they aren't cleaning their stuff properly so that it's irritating your skin causing it to break out. It's not worth it imo to keep letting them do your makeup if it's destroying your skin.

It might be worth it to see if there's anything in their makeup products that you might be allergic to so that when you do buy your own makeup you know to avoid it.

Also make sure you remove all the makeup thoroughly so nothing can stay there to irritate your skin. Makeup remover and/or oil cleanser and then cleanse again with your normal face wash. Then moisturize or whatever else is left of your skincare routine.

So I'd recommend getting your own set of basic makeup stuff and brushes and allow them to apply it for you if they want you to have a certain look for the theme of the shoot.

Normally when I go out I layer moisturizer, SPF and BB cream for maximum protection. However it seems like my SPF (LRP Antihelios SPF 50+ fluide extreme) and my BB cream (Missha Perfect Cover) interact somehow so that when I wear them together they sit on top of my skin rather than blending with it, if that makes sense? A few days ago my mother wiped a bug away from my cheek and left a little bit of 'rolled' cream behind on my skin. When I tried to fix it I only made it worse. The products had solidified somehow and the more I tried to blend them the more little flakes/rolls I created. This doesn't happen when I wear either product individually. Does anyone know what's causing this and what I should look out for in the ingredients lists of future purchases?
I'm sorry if this is unclear, English is not my first language and I don't know any of the terms to describe what's happening.

i'm totally lost, gulls. i have really delicate (not sensitive) skin because of a medical condition so it really doesnt react well to manual exfoliants or too-large pimples. i mainly get papules and pustules, i have dry skin around my nose, in my eyebrows and my hairline that easily splits, an orange-peel like texture mainly on my cheeks but all over my face really, an oily t zone, and eyebags as bad as tomokos. I try and drink at least a litre and a half of water a day for other medical reasons but it doesnt seem to be helping too much.

I agree with the other anon. Cure Natural is good but if your skin is delicate you still need to be careful. It's just a pure gel with no beads but you can't scrub hard.
>toners?
Either what anon said, or an Asian lotion (lotions in Asian skincare are more like toners). try something like http://hadalabousa.com/products/moisturizing/#prod3

Recommend the same brand as above. I've plugged them a couple times in this thread but they're seriously amazing, check out some reviews if you have time.

The only thing I can recommend for circles is a brightener and sleeping with your head elevated, they're mostly genetic. Also make sure you have a separate cream with acne fighting ingredients that you rub only into your zitty areas and a spot treatment if your skin can handle it.

There's something of a misconception about retinal/retinoid based ointments, but I'll have to look up on it later.

Speaking of this, I think an anon recommend Yes's blueberry eye cream here for dark circles, but when I checker it out, I saw that it's just for wrinkles. I wonder if the depuffing/brightening is just a non-advertised benefit.

Alright /cgl/ are you ready for my nightly skincare routine? Are you prepared? Are you sure? Cus it's fucking ridiculous

First off my makeup has salicylic acid in it so that I can minimize breakouts. Then I use neutrogena's nighttime makeup wipes. Followed by their grapefruit cleanser. Then I spend 10 minutes in murad's clarifying mask. I wash that off with a steaming hot towel and then wipe my face again with Oxy's skin clearing cleansing pads

Then I go in with some witch hazel, then Perricone MD's pore minimizer, then alcohol free toner. I put on an undereye firming serum called Sudden Change and then I follow that up with Olay regenerist micro-sculpting cream. Then moisture surge by clinique (a very small amount), dramatically different by clinique, and then I top that off with olay regenerist luminous overnight mask. The final step is some undereye revitalift from L'Oreal Paris, then I give my skin a break for a few minutes to let everything soak in before I do those weird facial stretches.

It's a lot, I know. And I'm not trying to brag about all the expensive products I use; I'm lucky and I get a lot of this stuff from my friend's mom who's a cosmotologist and I save up for the skincare products I actually buy the same way people save up for burando. I also don't GOB the stuff on my face, I use this stuff in very thin layers so that I'm not assaulting my face and wasting expensive products. When I wake up before I put on makeup usually I'll just use a single cleanser, a single toner, and a single moisturizer. I also try and drink lots of water and eat really clean and that's helped a lot.

One of my new year's resolutions was to have better skin because last year my skin was super awful and blotchy and dry and I was always breaking out from stress and I just couldn't be fucked to do anything about it. I've been doing this exact routine for about 2 months now and I've never been more confident in my skin! (1/2)

I would recommend this routine to anyone who has dry, sun damaged, acne prone skin, but you might wanna tone it down a bit unless your skin is as fucked up as mine used to be. I definitely wouldn't recommend it to anyone with super sensitive skin because all the cleansers and toners I use will probably just make your face really red and irritated. My dermatologist says my routine is excessive for most people but that it's been working well for my skin, so don't hesitate to talk to a professional about what's best for your skin type.

On days where I wanna give my skin a break I just use completely natural products. A simple sea salt scrub, witch hazel, some tomato juice or diluted lemon/lime juice, and olive oil. I recommend that routine to literally EVERYONE like seriously it's so simple and so inexpensive but it still makes you glow.

Pic related. Some of my skincare stuff. Do not mind the coke bottle in the background friends I swear I'm only moderately messy

What is the pH of the grapefruit cleanser?

Here's my current routine for combination mildly blemish-prone skin:

Morning:
Hada Labo Tokyo cleanser (pH 5.5)
Stridex Maximum strength salicylic acid (pH3-4, the other stridex pads are not the proper pH for exfoliation, wait 20 minutes for pH to neutralize)
Mizon all-in-one snail cream (it's a pre-treatment, not a moisturizer)
Benton High Content Snail Bee essence
Hada Labo Tokyo gel cream moisturizer
Neutrogena dry-touch sunscreen

Evening:
Banila co. Clean it Zero (oil cleanser)
Hada Labo Tokyo cleanser
Alpha Hydrox 10% glycolic oil free treatment AHA (pH 4, wait 20 minutes to neutralize)
Mizon all-in-one snail cream
Hada Labo Tokyo hyaluronic acid hydrator
Benton snail bee essence
tarte maracuja oil

I'm going to add in a vitamin C serum in the evening, I just have to find one at the right pH with both ferulic acid and vitamin e (helps increase skins natural sun protection over time and stabilizes the vitamin C), another serum with niacinamide in the morning for skin hyperpigmentation, and replace the sunscreen with Biore aqua rich sunscreen. I just have to get some samples in to test things.

Don't put lemon or lime on your face, even if it's diluted, and don't use sea salt as an exfoliant. The pH of the lemon is way, way too high to be safe and effective on the skin (it does more damage than good), and physical exfoliants like salt only irritate the skin and leave microscopic cuts that only make any skin problems worse.

I used to be a big "natural" skincare person too but studying to be an esthetician changed my opinion--just because you mix it yourself from natural things doesn't mean it's better for you.

I use the cleanser with my mia. The system is made to balance your PH, it is not for everyone, I've read people have had bad experiences with it but for me its a blessing. Two masks a day man?... You must be super relaxed haha. Whatever works.
The acidic stuff worries me though. There's been a bit of talk about pH lately. You can buy tester strips on eBay. I worry for you because the super soft glowing feeling might be a false sign. For example, swimming in or spraying sea salt in your hair can make curls perfect looking and shiny but something about the salt dehydrates and damages it like a salt lamp dehumidifies a room or some shit.

Neutrogena grapefruit cleanser may be a decent ph of 3-4, but it has too harsh surfactants that strip even good oils out. And the salicylic acid in there isn't doing shit unless you want to let it sit on your face for 20 minutes to actually work. Murads mask is sulfur, camphor, and lavender. So basically a giant irritating and drying concoction. Bad drying, not good drying. Steaming towels are always a negative. Your skin likes cool to very slightly warm water. Anything hotter and you're entering the world of broken capillaries. You can't "open pores", so that is pointless. Witch hazel is fine, hopefully yours doesn't have some alcohol in it. Perricone MD pore minimizer is a load of overpriced crap. It has a pH of 6, so the salicylic acid in there isn't doing anything to clean out your pores (not to mention that it has an unusually high alcohol content for what it is trying to do). Not that it matters because even if it was at the right ph to work, you're negating it by slapping ANOTHER toner (btw witchhazel acts as a toner) immediately on after it for some reason. Sudden change is useless. It's ingredients are water, egg whites (wtf?), and basically glorified dish detergent. Oh, and MORE ALCOHOL. The only decent thing in there is hyaluronic acid, which is moisturizing, but even that is way down the list.
let me read on your other crap and see how they are. Brb for part 2

I missed the oxy pads, but that's okay because they aren't doing anything anyways. They are at a too high pH for the salicylic acid to do anything and contain a fuck ton of alcohol. So that's I think four? products with salicylic acid in them that literally aren't doing anything. Olay regenerist is a decent enough moisturizer for normal skin. Kinda meh, nothing to actually hold moisturize. It does have mica in it, so your face will be artificially glowy. Moisture surge by clinique is also very low-quality as far as actually moisturizing. I believe that one is the one with unnecessary silicons, which can break people out by clogging pores (not everyone though). I hope you're using the dramatically different gel formulation, because the lotion formula (do they even still make it? They shouldnt) is horrid. The gel is actually a good moisturizer! And you'll need one since your other ones suck donkeyballs and the first half of your regime is spent sucking all the oils and moisture out of your face so that it resembles the Sahara on a good day. The overnight mask is another useless product, might as well just throw some lubiderm on your face. Would be cheaper AND more moisturizing. The undereye lift is also pointless, it's not doing anything. But hell, unlike the first half of your routine at least it isn't actively hurting your skin barrier.

Oh wait, I forgot you have ANOTHER post. Let me work on that one.
tl;dr: lots of products, none of them doing anything good.

Your derm sucks, which isn't surprising considering that most only deal with major skin issues and not daily product usage.
All natural is fine, so long as it works. Lemon juice is a pH of 2, so you can literally give yourself an acid burn with it, and I believe it is somewhat phototoxic too. Go ahead and Google "lemon juice burn".
Seasalt scrubs are great for feet, but on the face create micro tears that let in bacteria and unevenly exfoliate. But at least this is actually exfoliating, as your salicylic acid isn't and you don't have any AHA products. Olive oil is okay, but is actually (along with coconut oil) one of the more comedeogenic oils. It can clog pores. I don't know the pH of tomato juice offhand, but I don't know any reason to put it on your face. Then again, why not. It's not like you're going to fuck up your routine with one product: your skincare is fucked from start to finish.

Please at least wear sunscreen.

I'm going to tell a story about why popping and squeezing is bad, scarring aside since that is a given. So I used to have this nasty habbit of squeezing any blemish that I got. Eventually I developed deep laying cystic acne and that shit was very painful. After months of it slowly coming up and coming to heads I got stuck with all these annoying itchy cysts that were lying just beneath the surface of my skin and they wouldn't come to a head. They turned out to be filled with a little bit of pus, but mostly blood. These things weren't cysts but were blood blisters that were so deep lying that I had to get past all of the cystic acne to get to, and were caused by years of me squeezing. I also probably should've mentioned that I work as a performance artist and thus I wear a lot of heavy stage makeup. Part of the reason I cleanse so heavily is because I have a lot of trouble getting the stuff off with one product.

I, among others, live and die by the double cleansing routine (ie. oil cleanser then a facewash cleanser). The oil cleanser is used to take off your make up and the facewash is used to clean up. Oil cleansing will be something you have to experiment with (can potentially cause massive breakouts if done wrong!), but I'm using Sanctuary Ultimate Facial Cleansing Oil which has a mix of different oils. For a "facewash" kind of cleanser, I'm using Avene Extremely Gentle Cleanser, but if you want a foaming one, Avene also has a gel cleanser.

I use La Roche-Posay 50+ SPF Extreme Fluid. Not sure if it'll stop you from being pale, but it's really good for sensitive skin.

>exfoliators?
You should use chemical exfoliators, especially if your skin is sensitive. AHAs (eg. glycolic acid, lactic acid) are good for dry skin, BHAs (eg. salicylic acid) are good for oily skin. Check to see the ingredients to see if they have either of those.

>toners?
Witch hazel is pretty popular at the moment. I personally don't use a toner, though.

In my opinion, I don't think you need to use so many products in the morning (but if that works for you, go right ahead). I get away with washing my face with water (unless my face is super gross) and moisturising/putting on sunscreen in the morning.

While the St. Ives scrub is terrible, that's a horribly misleading post.
She complains about everything being comedogenic but a lot of those ingredients are found in other (non-shitty) cosmetics and are perfectly fine. She has a terribly alarmist attitude that's very telling of her lack of knowledge on the subject and frankly just makes her sound like one of those hippie mums that complain how 'petrolatum in your cosmetics causes caaancer because it's a petrol derivate!' (It doesn't, and that's like saying water causes cancer because it's an ingredient in liquid detergent). Cetearyl alcohol can irritate but it's a perfectly fine ingredient to use because most people tolerate it rather well in the amount that's found in cosmetics. Same with SLS, unless you're allergic it won't do shit to you and the fact that it's cheap has nothing to do with anything. Gold flakes and caviar are luxurious and expensive but do jack shit for your skin.

I also wasn't aware I was being a cocky prick. In fact I distinctly remember saying I wasn't trying to brag about having all of these products and I got half of them for free and saved up for the other half.

Your "concrit" which could've been "I think you're going a little bit too heavy, maybe you should try x y and z" was instead "HAHA LOOK AT THIS DUMB BITCH EVERYONE LOOK AT HOW SMART I AM FOR CALLING HER OUT" and despite that I DID say I would take everything into account. Why is it so important to you to be an elitist and tell someone who's new to skincare that they're stupid? Why do you care? We're all gonna die one day.

This isn't lolita, this isn't about opinion or "concrit". This is skincare and science, and no, I don't really care about the feelings of some bragging kid on the internet. Get a grip. I'm actually relatively new to skincare too, I never said I wasnt. I've been reading about it maybe 4-6 months. But I've been reading facts and science, you've been reading promotional slogans and who knows what else. I'm not an elitist, I really don't care what you do to your face. You could dye it pink for all I care, but your arrogance in that post was obnoxious and it was really fun to tell you how insanely wrong you are. A complicated routine isn't better, and expensive routine isn't better.
I really hope you're still in high school, because you're really sensitive and stupid for an adult (and I'm pretty sure that's the first time I've actually called you stupid, but maybe not).

I'm pretty sure you're not supposed to purge while using topical products. It only occurs, like the other anon said with Accutane, retinal, various supplements (ie: codliver oil, vitamin a, etc) and the such. The reason with accutane is different is because it makes your pores inhospitable for bacteria and pushes all the gunk out. If you start breaking out when you use new skin products something is irritating your skin. Check the ingredients list and see if there is anything in there that won't agree with your skin, like fragrances and such, and keep that in mind when buying future products!

So I read from Snow White and the Pear that any cleanser above 5.6 is considered 'bad' for your skin.
However, the cleanser I use has a pH of 7.5 and all the other ones I've tried broke me out or made my skin incredibly flaky.
The ingredients are as follows:
Aqua
Glycerin
Sodium cocoamphoacetate
PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil
Niacinamide
Sucrose cocoate
Allantoin
Caprylyl Glycol
Bisabolol
Sodium gluconate
Citric Acid

everyone recing you preventative shit like god damn.

I feel your pain- and I haven't been smart enough to get into retinol yet (it kinda scares me hah).

What works for me is exfoliation- I'm still looking for a good c-serum that doesn't kill me and my over sensitive skin, but people have luck with aha, and bha (some even with all three. but they may have skin made of concrete).

also extensive and targeted moisturization. I like a hydrating toner- like the hada labo regular one- general moisturizer, and a tick layer of the returning starfish cream on top of that in my trouble areas. (I also use a thick cream bc my skin is dry af but idk about you)

these have helped, and ofc if you aren't hydrated and trying to wear sunscreen you should- but you probably already know that shit.

Do you break out everywhere? With all of these (and everything you put on your skin) you need to test patch them on your skin- I do two patches. 1) on my arm to see if it triggers my skin sensitivities (or sometimes my neck) and 2) on my jawline or chin (where I break out easiest) to see if it breaks me out. Do this for a few days (it differs for everyone but you know roughly how long you take to react), and then go from there.

Even with reviews from other anons none of us can guarantee that these won't break you out.

Do you have an idea of what ingredients cause you trouble?

>> No.8227784

High pH, for many people this causes drying, pimples, and other skin troubles. Cleansers with a pH between 5-6 generally are well received by every kind of skin.

Foaming cleansers are notorious for drying ingredients (SLS etc) but this isn't necessarily true of all of them.

However I believe the simple cleanser has a pH of around 8-8.5? Which would cause a bit of damage to many people's skin, even if you haven't noticed any for yourself.

People actually still think consuming collagen benefits their own collagen? It doesn't. It breaks down in your body like any other protein and does absolutely nothing for your collagen production. The only way to use collagen effectively is to inject it. And pretty much anything good for your skin found from animal sources can be synthetically manufactured or found in plants.

Because you brought it up, I'm re-researching this stuff again.
There's no article or definitive evidence I found on the web that said minimized it for sure, but it doesnt hurt to try what gets recommended the most.
So far I've been including more soy in my diet (relates to the natto mentioned in this post https://www.paleohacks.com/fat/how-can-i-gain-facial-fat-19448 and how the phytoestrogens supposedly adds fat deposits that /fit/ and /fa/ tries to avoid because they're more interested in avoiding gyno and getting that gaunt jawline)

only thing I've heard of is that EU and Asian sunscreens use some things that aren't approved by the FDA yet. But that's a non-issue since the EU has much stricter regulations than the FDA, they just approved them sooner.

Where does this bullshit come from again?
Every regulatory body around the world seems to be stricter on a certain set of chemicals than others.
>Japan is stricter than USA in regards to GMO

So what really is the deal with nanoparticles, we have all yet to see.

And the latter one was that some chemical sunscreens are unstable. I say some because most FDA-approved chemical sunscreens are rather unstable, and the chemical sunscreens made in Asia or the EU are more stable due to those 'untested' ingredients being, well... tested, and approved.
