This is what frustrates me the most. Why spend the same or more for a shit quality chinese bootleg when you can just buy the good quality one.

I've bought both from Alpacasso and from bootleggers before and I can guarantee you that the bootlegs are hardly ever cut accurately, usually understuffed, have tinier eyes than they should, have cheap fur that has much less fibers that it should, and even will tear at their own seams because of how poorly they're constructed. Brand may make a few mistakes here and there, but they tend to be much easier to fix than having to practically reconstruct the plush to look decent and stay together.

Also, what's the fucking point of buying bootleg if you actually hate the artist/company and what they stand for? Pusheen's name is out there, people who recognize the character are going to know who it is and assume you like it anyways if you own a plush of it. There are plenty of other kawaii cat plushes to buy in the world and you chose Pusheen, and a cheap looking one-sided pillow looking plush of it at that.

Also, as far as number of coordinates go, I would say half my wardrobe can only be worn in one way or two ways that are only very slightly different.
I have two sets of three JSKs with legwear, bags, accessories, etc. that all compliment each other really well so I can probably easily make 2-3 rather different coords with each of those (the bag or shoes might stay the same).
Overall, I'd say I can make probably 30-35 coords with my wardrobe. I need to prune my main pieces and invest in more shoes/accessories.

I don't think most people realize how much their clothing adds up to. Unless you're buying literally everything from charity shops (which suck and are still kind of expensive where I live) or the clearance rack, it's easy for outfits to add up to $100, which I would say is about the cost of a basic bodyline/offbrand coord.

I asked the question originally because a lot of lolitas said the coordinates costing was biased as a lot of items could have been reused. Now I wonder if I should have specified "take a photo of your wardrobe" instead of "how many coords", since the second is harder to visualise.

Anyway, other than doing it for insurance reasons like other anon suggests, or for keeping the historical cost at hand when you'd like to sell on something, I don't think there's much point in doing deep analysis on costing.

yeah i keep mine on google docs, and it's easy to just add a 'sold' column to calculate if you broke even/lost money/made a profit on sales. it's just a bit overwhelming to keep track of everything when i'm constantly buying/selling, and i feel so guilty every time i see the aggregate of what i've spent (especially on shipping holy crud)
