Last time I do this on my phone

Rehashing what I posted in the previous thread:
-This is a fashion show outfit, so I wanted it to be a little out there.
-Everything set aside the shoes is going to be handmade. I'm already working on the stockings , they're topped with a soft tulle ruffle and cameos.
-The cage skirt may or may not end up being more ruffley as well.
-The shoes are a maybe. They're here because I already own them, but if the right style of shoe is shown to me, I won't hesitate to change them.

I made some adjustments to this from the previous thread, still unsure about it, so tell me what you think.
- I've decided to to a black chiffon overdress, but with simpler ruffles than the example I used here.
- Decided on using a neck ruff in white with lace,
- Added more elaborate bloomers, but kept them in white because there's white on the legs, and white up top in the neck ruff, so I needed to keep some white in the middle with everything else there being black.
- the corset will be black
-wig and makeup will be somewhat similar to the inspiration picture but not exactly

I wanted to do a jester's hat with it, probably in black velvet, but someone said it might look costumey no matter what, so I tried out their bird-themed suggestion and I'll post that as well. If I don't do the birds, though, I need a sort of harlequin/Elizabethan headdress and I'm a little stumped.

If the gold blouse matches the gold in the print of the skirt, I'd pair it with that for a more classic look. Go with ivory lace tights or socks, the pearl shoes and pearl/ivory and gold for accessories. I think some gold shoes would look nice, and you could even bring out the blue color in stockings or a cardigan. As long as you do it in solids you'll be fine. I would say to mix in some pearls accessories as well, a bracelet, a necklace, even some pearl pins throughout your hair would be very pretty.

Can I get some concrit on this please? The necklace is temporary until I can borrow a white pearl necklace from a friend. Tights are going to be navy lace (if gold shoes) or white lace (if navy shoes). The bag is a vintage white pearl purse. Lay it on me!

I'm not sure about that shade of blue anon, even though it's featured in the jsk. I think they would look better in the same shade as the bows on the skirt because to me they are the most distinctive pop of color amidst the mint and blue shades. I think if you do go for the shoes, it would look more balanced if your headwear also contained a mix of the mint and the more blue shades (actually think this could look really nice).

I'm not sure on that hairband anon, it looks like a much deeper navy (on my screen at least) and then you have the ivory lace embellishment kinda out of nowhere which isn't really reflected anywhere in the jsk. I'd go for a better matching color and something that has minimal to no lace embellishments since the key feature of the jsk is the print. Also don't rule out hats and smaller side bows/corsages etc if you like them.

As for white otks, whilst not a terrible match, I think you could do a lot better - if it's basic you're after perhaps tights with a simple, complimentary design/print would be better. Tbh I'm feeling too in need of sleep now to go trawling for item suggestions, but if other anons could help out that would be great.

Its best to start simple and get more complex outfits as you go on.The pants are too baggy for ouji, you want something more slimming and streamlined. I dont think the blouse would match well with the necklines of the vest and jacket. You also may want to not do both a vest and a jacket at first, and typically you go with either or.

I'd love to put together an otome coord with this jsk from cath kidston but I'm really struggling to work out how to best give it the right otome vibe (and less normalfag). I'd love some suggestions for what colors and patterns etc to bring in to achieve the look.

Personally, while I like mixing patterns in otome, I think the messy polka dot sweater, the busy printed dress, and polka dot socks is a wee bit much, but I do think a bright colored cardigan would be a good pop. Also, if you're the girl from the plus size thread, don't go for mid-calf socks. They will make your legs look awful. Go for knee-highs if you can. My only other suggestion would be to get a necklace that matches the gold of the bag, or a bag that matches the tarnished look of the metals. However, that's just my weird thing against mixing metals. Overall, this looks great. I think the color of the bow and the flats is perfect.

I think its casual and cute. The hair piece could be more casual (a thin hairbow or a beret) but its alright. I think the boots are too big for the rest of the coord, though. They would be too much of a block of black rather than a balanced black with the cardi. If its possible i think a watch the same color as the wrist cuffs would be more casual. The boots are too wide. It is hard to add black to such a sweet outfit already, but the shape those kinds of boots make will just look off. Those are kinda boots you put with pants tbh. So if you really want to do black, go for something more fitted there.

I definitely also disagree with >>8199254, I like this coord with black. Navy is too many blue tones and it will just be a blobbish blue gradient. Navy will also make your skirt less of an interesting color. Black and white with a grayish lavender-indigo color is just charming.

Thanks for the advice, the cardi is the thing throwing it off the most for me for sure, I just can't seem to find anything I like better. I even found a cardi in the exact same shade as the shoes but suddenly it seemed to loose that otome feel as soon as I added it to the collage.

I see what you mean about mixed metals, it's not such a peev of mine bit it will certainly be no trouble to find a similar pendent in a closer gold tone to the bag.

I'm not the anon from that thread, my legs are pretty skinny really, at least compared to the rest of me. I'm definitely going to look for some other socks and tights options, although I do quite like the spotty ones.

I agree with the first anon's points, but I have a few points to make as well.
One of the biggest reasons mixing patterns isn't working for you here is because you're trying to mix three relatively-similar patterns (basically all polka dots/dots of varying sizes).
I actually own this dress, and I think it looks best with a solid color top and patterned legwear (I like to pair it with a yellow cardigan and a white blouse with a cute collar that pops out). If you want to bring in another pattern, go for stripes.
Alternatively, pair it with a simple blouse and buy/make a thick-ish ribbon belt for the waist in like yellow or red to bring out one of the colours in the print.
I don't mean to sound horribly harsh, but right now it really just looks like a poorly-coorded normalfag outfit. None of the items aside from the JSK and milk bag look really nice (agree that the colour of the shoes looks nice, just not sold on style from the pic), and they don't go together well at all, even with the leniency/quirkiness of otome.

Hi anons, I need some help.
I want to wear this dress and bonnet oldschool style, but something is.. off with this coord. It's also very plain. I know oldschool can be plain, but I just felt it was missing something. I added some roses to the bonnet but I don't know if it goes with the feel I want.
Any ideas? It's for a con in a couple of weeks. I have a decent gothic coord I could wear this op with if nothing works. Platforms, bat bag, gothic tights and some other stuff. Should I just wear it like that? I want to wear something that stands out and looks really interesting since it's for a convention.

If you want, ruffly-lacy otks where the tops look like bloomers peaking out. Adds more volume. Black shoes would work too if you had a black bag, but I think usakumya-chan is pretty cute as well. Keep 'em chunky; I think rhs are nice with blonde hair because the wood kind of matches. I wouldn't go for matching burgundy shoes anyway. A long dangly necklace could add some interest. I really want this one for a bordeux velveteen dress I have too, and it has crowns if you really want to keep the tights. I wouldn't go for the crown with usa bag though.

If you want to stick with the usa bag (which is very sweet) then I think you should ditch the tights and go with old-school frilly white socks that poke out beneath the hemline of the OP. To then balance it all out, I'd add some white roses with the burgundy ones near the bonnet. I think putting the wig/hair into low bunches or plaits would look cute too and add to the sweeter, dolly vibe; you could even secure the pigtails with small, crisp, white bows (as to not distract from the bonnet or be ott) which I think would look great. Actually, if you went with white bows to finish off pigtails, you may not want to go for white roses as well, if you want to be very oldschool.

I'm not a fan of the tights with this because to me, it's far more classic than sweet and the rhs cover up the print so the eye is really only drawn to the crowns on your knees.

I really love this in general though anon and the op is beautiful - I think it only needs a bit of tweaking to look awesomely oldschool.

I agree that it looks a little white heavy on the bottom, but I still think it works. I think the biggest issue is that you want it to be more intricate; most oldschool is fairly simple. I think you'll stand out just for wearing it, since usually when I go to cons I just see OTT everywhere.

I'm throwing together a last-minute coord and I was wondering if I could have some advice.

I have a black OP with an ivory collar. The headbow I'll be wearing is ivory with black roses pinned to it, and the lace detailing on the OP also has black roses. I was going to continue the theme with a purse featuring a black rose motif, but I'm worried that the black from the bag will get drowned out against the backdrop of the black OP. I was considering getting an ivory rose bag instead, to pop against the OP. Would that still be thematically appropriate? Or would the two different rose colors look messy?

I usually hate clock bags, although this one seems pretty (where's it from?) But since there is no clock motif in the dress, I'd recommend a black heart bag (or any shape solid-colour bag in black, navy or white).
A navy headbow with a small white bow beneath it is the simplest I can think of that's work-appropriate.
Then for the jewelry, if you get a long necklace it might get lost in the print, so I'd say to get a short necklace in white, like pearls or hearts. Same for bracelets/rings, just some white and navy heart or neutral-themed things.
You could incorporate a nautical theme if you want since navy/white makes people think of that, or if you really like the bag, you could always incorporate the clock theme in the jewelry and headwear (try "clock jewelry" or something like that on taobao to get ideas).

I'm going to say "no", because of colour clashes. The dress looks navy while the bag has bright blue, the ribbons on the dress are pale gold while the bag has bright mustard yellow. It's a bit too many color clashes, imo.

The brown shoes aren't really balanced with the rest of the coord. I'm not sure how the necklines will work together since I think the ruffle of the blouse will partially cover the bow on the jsk. If the bow has some lace detailing on it, even quite subtle, it doesn’t tend to get completely lost, it's just not as high contrast as with lighter hair. Some people may not like black head wear on black or near black hair, but I rather like it. Is the lace on the skirt brilliant white/pure white anon? - There aren't that many super bright whites in lolita in my experience but as you say, no guarantee and can be hard to tell. I think a sightly off-white as opposed to cream would be a better match either way. As the skirt has a few tones running through it however, I'm not sure if you need to be quite so strict.

I don't think your blouse is a bad match, so much as it could be better/perfected if that makes sense? - If it's very cream-y in person I suppose it could risk looking awkward.

I've noticed some people have successfully balanced creams and white tones by using a mixture of hair flower colours or say, a necklace that has both cream/ivory and white - worth a thought perhaps.

That's a good point. I saw the skirt in person and it's not ultra bright or anything, but it's decidedly more white than off-white.

I like mixing cream, off-white, and white in other fashions but I know it's something people can get anal about with lolita so I just feel so unsure. I'd say my blouse is a bit beyond off-white buy it's not one of those almost-yellow creams or anything. I can definitely look for accessories that incorporate both to tie it together too. I might just have to go to the AP shop and try them together.

I really think you need to find some deeper red items in a more sophisticated, elegant style. Try searching for 'dark red' or perhaps 'wine red' if you need some terms to search for.

Also that blouse anon, looks like it would be squashed by the jsk bodice, with ruffles sticking out everywhere, also if you kept the bow, it would completely cover up the bow details etc on the bodice.

This looks 100% better anon, the base of the shoes you have chosen seems to match, and it's just the ribbon that's brighter(?). I don't have a problem with this personally, I still think it looks balanced and believe it's possible to go overboard with 'nitpicky' color coordinating. I think you could benefit from an additional matching wine red hair embellishment though, or perhaps a gold spoon slide/clip or something similar just to really balance it out.

Boots are dark brown, knee high. Jsk is bodyline l510 in beige. I am probably going to use a light pink chiffon blouse and a pink floral corsage. I have some clips for the boots to tie them in with the pink and beige.

I find pulling out the darker colours in the print is a pretty good way to tone down sweetness. I'd try matching accessories and headwear to the dark pink or the green and go for light to mid brown shoes and bag. Sorry I can't collage for you, I'm on my phone!

Ditch the lace gloves, if you are going to wear glasses try to go heavier on the makeup. The bangs suit you, so continue with that style and if you are using your real hair style it more.

Get better shoes, those look too casual, and get a better head wear, something again with more volume to it. Hats are easy to get if you dont know what suits you.
