If you're looking at short wedding dresses, I would suggest dollycouture.com. very inexpensive and they do custom stuff.

Unless he's a sailor, you're going to have difficulties. The marine, air force, and army dress uniforms are pretty much just traditional suits with rather poor color choices (Although if he's a marine officer, you might be in luck). As such, the uniform tends to draw more focus than the dress.

You're essentially going to look out of place no matter what in those cases, as the image of the traditional military wedding is very ingrained in psyches. What he is wearing essentially becomes the focal point, while the bride is traditionally to compliment him.

Like, I get why people like to be married in uniform, but (and I'm assuming you're American) the modern military uniforms are not at all as regal or fancy as what you see in royal weddings, for instance. If they wore something like pic related, you'd be able to get away with quite a lot, without looking like you're clashing.

In my opinion, your best bet would be to gamble on elegant and simple, unless you can convince him to wear something else.

I prefer the uniform because its that or a kilt....The uniform does look good on him but for now the lolita one is for the courthouse (paperwork mostly)

I have free reign for the entire wedding accept his uniform...the kilt is a bit difficult to coordinate with. This was a compromise.

I love the Katrina OP by AP in white as a wedding dress. Honestly if I were you I'd just look at shiro dresses, lots of brands have beautiful all-white or all-ivory dresses out right now. Don't look for "wedding lolita," though, that'll steer you down the wrong road. just look for shiro.

what's the difference between two weddings and a wedding and a reception on the same night? it sounds like OP just wants to take care of the paperwork stuff at the courthouse on one day, and then have a big wedding party sometime at a later date.

My parents actually did that when they got married back in the '80s and it seemed to work out just fine for them.

It looks like what you're looking for is a tea length dress. Modcloth has a few cute dresses. The app has a "Wedding Looks that Wow" section, which has a lot of bridesmaids dresses and dresses for guests, but also has quite a few pretty ivory and gold dresses. David's Bridal is also having their $99 dress sale, so a lot of dresses are on sale, although not necessarily $99 (pic related is $349). David's Bridal had terrible customer service when I went but I still ended up finding a gorgeous dress for less than $1000. You just have to sort through all the ugly cheap ones.

Well ya. There was a girl in the reviews who listed as size 16 that looked nice in her photos so I dont think it only looks good on size 6 and under just depends more on how big your boobs are or how you carry your weight. But that is the same with any clothing. Anyone who has a bigger chest or fat really shouldnt be wearing anything with a high collar. It sucks but it always accentuates your size. If you are someone like that then sweet heart necklines or off the shoulder necklines are what your going to want to get.

In my part of the world, it actually seems to be traditional to wear two different dresses. An elaborate one for the church and a simpler for legal proceedings.

Thanks, I'm looking for mostly tea/knee length. I promised him I'd wear white for this because I want a blush dress for the real deal. It's also a compromise for not wearing white on my wedding (he thought I wanted a gothic dress when I said color)....its mostly just legal work but we wanted to still look nice.
