I see Dream Marine in the Angelic Pretty USA store site and of course it's sold out. But does this mean they actually had stock set aside for international stores or are they just listing it as a formality? I saw a Mercator in the SF store's window and I'm an asshat for not buying it.

I've always had it shipped directly to me with no problems. Did they confirm they would ship to your tenso, not your pp address? Honestly they are fucking themselves over if they ship to your tenso address because pp won't protect them if something happens.
Also why would file a claim against them? That's kindof rash and assholish, IMO. Just send them another email or two. Communication might be a little slow, but they're a reputable shop with no drama that I know of.

Also, judging from the descriptions of how the attack seemed to have gone, I really doubt anyone would have time in this situation to pull out a gun and shoot to defend yourself. Even if you did it's likely you already would've received wounds that would immediately be causing you problems.
If it makes you feel safe, fine, I guess just follow all the laws and proper safety procedures but if someone is going to harm you in a rare, random, surprise attack like this (in an area that was normally deemed safe at what people considered a safe time of the day too) there might not be enough time for you to think about how to defend yourself. Sorry. I think one of the articles said she was wearing headphones? At best, please remember to try to be aware of your surroundings at all times especially if you're alone no matter where you are or what time of day it is. So many get attacked or taken advantage of while their mind is elsewhere - earbuds in listening to music, walking and talking on the phone and not paying attention, texting and only looking at the screen, etc. I think the biggest thing beyond having some sort of weapon to defend yourself is to simply just keep your wits about you as best you can. I know whenever I walk alone no matter where I am or what time it is I try to be aware of my surroundings as much as possible. Not saying that will stop an attack either but yeah.

I didn't have to shoot it because he stopped instantly in his tracks and ran away as fast as he could . called the police and filed a report. OPs are comfier in summer and can make a more 'complete' looking dress. I even have one with detachable sleeves. In odd colours and materials I don't have to worry about getting a matching blouse just for it. I still mix up my ops with cardigans, jackets, aprons, brooches. You need to wash blouses pretty much every time so I'd want to invest in a LOT of blouses if I wore jsks a lot. JSKs over blouses look more childish to me, kind of 1960s. I have more Lolita ops and more otome jsks.
In general though, I would be inclined to pick the jsk (I need more) unless the op has a nice cut/ it looks more 'complete' as an op (or the colors are hard to match).

PT-05 is a pretty good A-line, or just ask her yourself. I personally don't like my pettis to be more than 45cm because I like to wear them below my waist/on my low waist - particularly when I'm wearing a skirt having the waistbands sitting on top of each other is a bit much and most skirts are only 50cm anyway. Most people prefer their petti to be 2"-4" shorter than their skirts, because most people wear them 1-2" lower than where the skirt starts poofing out, but any more than a 2" discrepancy between the petti length and skirt hem when worn and you'll start risking noticeable drop-off.

>> No.8193301

>>8192757
If your petticoat has an elastic waistband that you can re-distribute the fluff around (like classical puppets or victorian girl dress) then you need to move it all 'forward' so there's less fluff over your ass and more at front and sides.

>>8193069
I fit into OPs but I think because I'm fairly small overall, what looks like proportionally big muscle and wide shoulders/back on me still fits into the dresses despite my shoulders being 'too big'. On bust-waist I'm a good 10cm below most fixed-size brand measurements, but my shoulder width shouldn't fit into anything ever. Somehow it does and this remains a mystery to me (maybe it's the puff sleeves?).

>> No.8193341

I never wear them on my waist either because you gotta show what ya got or in case of the waist don't have.

If I plan to wear it casually or just really don't like the bodice I'll go for a skirt. OPs for me only work if they're either very intricate and don't need anything more or if they're very simple and I plan to wear them casually anyway. JSKs are the most versatile option because they can most easily be dressed up or down. Also like >>8192034 said, OPs are nice for summer when you want your shoulders and upper arms covered but don't want to have too many layers going on.

I think it's only gross when people are doing it for sympathy on platforms like Facebook and Tumblr if they didn't know her.

Otherwise I think it's nice that people are spreading images of her in a fashion she loved as a memorial. She had a public blog, and people are spreading images from there. I think lots of lolitas took it to heart because they may have followed her on tumblr, or know people that knew her, or they are going through a similar phase of life and feel connected through the fashion.

People die all the time. Death and mourning should be more accepted. Just because her death wasn't directly related to the fashion doesn't mean people in the community aren't affected.

I actually often see OPs as more casual, because it's less layers. My daily wear wardrobe is mostly black OPs, so I just have to pull on some giths, a petti, a dress and I'm done rather than having to bother about a blouse as well. I have a couple of skirts that I wear frequently too, but most of my skirts have too many prints/embroideries on them to go with the solid-colour dressed-down look so they end up getting used mostly for meets or for cute crossover styles (so like casual, not-quite-lolita outfits with a lolita skirt?) Then my super fancy wear wardrobe also has a lot of OPs. But for "regular" lolita I definitely like JSKs the most. They're easiest to create different coords with by wearing different blouses and accessories, and you don't get the problem with big blocks of colour looking unbalanced without a bolero that you do with skirts.

I prefer jsks. I'm busty, wide ribcage and wider shoulders but not insanely so, just enough to give me some issues with brand blouses. I've had some luck with Meta and Baby though. AP is out when it comes to blouses. I've worn some OPs but because of shoulders and bust, they end up riding up on me. I think getting down to my weight loss goals will help with the fit of OPs, so for right now, it's JSKs.

Also with a large bust and a short torso, skirts are awkward. I own about three right now but since I put on weight, I just don't wear them because I look horrible in them.

My arms are also pretty muscular (now they're muscle and fat yay!) but I don't have too much of an issue except some of my bodyline blouses leave some painful indentations on my arms. No issues with my brand ones though. Lately I've been wearing boleros because of it. Patiently waiting for Floral Notebook to return so I can just do a massive order of chiffon blouses.

just to add I tried it with a lightly bleach bathed pale pink with a pattern bodyline dress a while back and it turned out great and looking like an antique doll dress. I took the plunge since it was a relatively inexpensive BL dress but I think it really depends on the material of the dress etc, I got lucky and it was worth the gamble, you just have to weigh it up I guess.

If you do decide to go ahead, definitely look up the best methods for tea-staining - if you're going to do it you're best of doing it the way that's likely to achieve the best results. I would suggest using a sink/bath large enough to accommodate and cover the entire dress, leaving a bit of extra room to swish it about, you'll get the most even looking results this way.

tea parties (lolita or otherwise) do usually involve tea, but it's more based around cakes, nibbles, pastries etc. There's likely to be some other refreshment option other than tea available as well. If you really dislike tea that much, it's not the worst thing, it's not like you'll be forced to drink it. Asking on this thread as well as shoe thread since board is slow and I'm going away for a while.

I need rain boots for everyday wear but I want them to be able to match my Lolita clothes so I can finally wear Lolita on rainy days too.

I can't find loliable rain boots anywhere. In fact, I can't find a decent pair of not ugly rain boots anywhere. I found semi-okay boots for over $100 and I'm not going to pay that much for something I don't even like.

How does everyone feel about wearing plain black rain boots with Lolita? I wear both black and lighter colors like pastels and light neutrals. I figured black would sort of match everything since it's plain, but I know it might look jarring if worn with pastel colors.

And any suggesting for rain boots is appreciated. I can't find anything I like. Apparently I'm really fucking picky and hate everything. I even think rain boots are cute so I'm shocked that for the last 6 or 7 years I haven't been able to find a single fucking pair I like.

They're good for weebs who just want something cute to wear at home or for a con, but you won't learn anything or impress anyone with your sewing skills, and you definitely wouldn't want to wear anything she makes to a serious lolita meet as her clothing is pretty poorly sewn. Poof is necessary for the silhouette, but the amount is pretty personal. Some chicks love ridiculous amounts while others preferred almost deflated looking amounts and softer a-lines. It depends on your style and how you look. I'd say if you're worried about poof get one CP petti and buy a cheaper petti to layer under it for moderate poof. I have a cheap leg avenue petti that helps add a touch of oomph under my CP cupcake without being over the top. You might also wanna buy a cupcake AND an a-line (odds are you're gonna want an a-line at some point anyways).

Good luck, anon!

>> No.8198495

>>8198420
I suggest getting one of those and one of their daily petticoats. I got two of the "super poofy" ones in different colours when I started out and with hindsight I really regret it. Two of them is way too much unless it's under a velvet dress or something, and it left me without an option for lower poof for dresses which required it, leaving me overstuffing some pieces. Getting one of those and one of the daily ones will be plenty for layering, but give you the versatility to wear lower-poof dresses too. (I actually disagree with >>8198426 - with heavy dresses, one isn't always enough by itself, but you only need a small layering petti to make it enough.)

Or, if you're buying two petticoats, buy an A-line one as well. You might not think you need it right now, but unless you're exclusively sweet you'll probably find yourself wanting/accidentally buying an A-line dress or skirt in the future and then kicking yourself for not getting an A-line petticoat when you had the chance.

I can actually post a comparison photo for reference of no petti, one of those CP petti and two CP pettis under an average dress (not too heavy cotton, but lined) if you want. The amount of poof given really does vary a lot on depending on the weight of the material of the dress you're wearing it with. It's not excessive for most modern items, but I have a couple of Black Peace Now skirts and an oldschool BtSSB JSK that I picked up on auctions that it overstuffs.

Sorry for unironed dress/lack of coord/general shittiness of pics, these are quite old photos I took for a petticoat review I never ended up making.

Oh, and please note that these photos were taken pretty much straight out of the bag (like, half an hour after), but the poof level didn't change significantly. Out of the bag the black was fluffier than the white, but once they'd had time to fluff up the white was slightly fluffier than the black, and has also held up better over time. I've had these a year now and after I got caught in the rain in the black one it deflated slightly, but I think a spin in the tumble drier would fluff it up again. They're pretty much the same now as they are in that pic (I've been storing them scrunched up in ziplock bags).

I always wear normal makeup and use my real hair. Natural is good, it's lazy that makes you look ita (uneven skin tone, unkempt lank greasy hair, etc). If you are well groomed and put effort into your styling you will look good. Inversely, there are plenty of people who wear wigs and pile on the makeup and look absolutely terrible.

The only time you would "need" a wig with lolita is if you had a pixie cut or something and wanted to wear a bonnet or large hair accessory. Those types of headwear look really off without some hair to balance them out.

What are they like? Do they all look subpar like that?

I like posting my outfits on my blog (its a fully personal blog, no reblogs), but I'm a little insecure that I have so few pieces.

My coords are generally different (although some are similar, due to having a small wardrobe) but the pieces seem glaringly obvious to me that they are the same.

What should I do? How long should I wait before I can repeat pieces? Or should I just not post my new outfits?

Or should I just do whatever the fuck I want and ignore it when some people on cgl possiblyeventually make fun of me?

What's with threads getting deleted? Is there some rhyme or reason to it or is it random?

Janitors doing a bit of clean up because bitching threads aren't allowed.

I'm 4'10 and currently wearing a dress that's 94cm long, and it really is sooo long. It's a gothic print though, so it works out and doesn't look like trash.

I think it depends on your bust, since that brings up the dress, and what style you're going for.

Also if you wear heels, or some shoes with heels that should also elongate your legs.

That is weird, I've never had that problem. Was it wet or something?

I don't get it either, I list in dollars and will invoice US customers in dollars but I put a currency conversion for in my native currency in the description and say that buyers from my country will be invoiced for that amount.

Haven't got that one, but I have three blouses from them (two different peter pan collar ones, and a 3/4 sleeve collarless one) and only the third one was poor quality. It wasn't that bad either, just the material is thin and tore easily and I had to renew some buttons. The others were fine.
