This is not something you're going to find a guide for since her fabric is really unusual. Most people just search around for a green/black print that's close enough, or dye a white/black one. Try online stores like fabric.com.

My cosplays are Dirk, Kankri and Dave but I recently ordered Sollux and Karkat's horns from a friend and I'll be Dualscar in a big ancestor group here in Brazil as soon as I figure out how to make his cape and wig. Any tutorials on these?

Does anyone have any experiences with alcohol activated body paints? And also a place to get them (that isn't a professional exclusive).

The only one i usually come across is Skin Illustrator (pic related) and they only have pallets and is $75 - Though i'm already expecting alcohol activated paint to be pricey.

I've experimented with most other types of body paint, but alcohol activated is one of the only ones i have no experience with.

What's the best way to go about making GHB horns. And other larger horns in general? My mind is a mess trying to figure this out

Anyone have any experience/ recommendations with alcohol activated body paints? I have a bad feeling that they would crack fairly easily.

I'm also looking at Kryolan BIC Alcohol Activated Make-up.

Yeah, I thought that was weird, too. I've heard many times that WP has a thing about cosplayers because they're the ones who represent the fandom the worst. That probably has something to do with it.

I agree, it's pretty ridiculous that they go as hard as they do with it. If I had a comic and my fans sold their own creations of my characters I would feel fucking amazing, providing it was on a reasonable scale. Obviously someone mass producing plushies or whatever is different from some random fan at an AA selling their handmade goods, but WP seems to see it all as the same.

The policy stems from two shitfests Rachel had over someone selling Homestuck hats and then one with another seller (can't remember the details on this one). Long story short, hat seller tried to contact WP for their blessing and to offer a cut of the profits, seller didn't hear back and started selling because it was her legal right, Rachel caught wind and plastered her name around social media until the tumblr babies drove the seller away. Soon after this WP came up with the no-3d art policy.

I get the policy in theory if you want to stop people from producing things you might sell in your story, but then why not include the same commission/one off caveat like they do for fanartists? I'm down for people selling original prints of fanart or secondhand cosplays or plushies even handmade cosplay accessories, but selling something that the creator already offers is pushing into ripoff territory. I'll admit to side-eyeing a little when white people cosplay Tiana/Mulan/Pocahantas, but I can appreciate that they love those characters in the same way I do. IMO, painting oneself to be darker is worse than continuing to pass as white, since that treats skin color like a costume (not comparable to how simple face makeup is used in costuming, since there's historical context behind it)

Agree with the "summer shade," though - using a foundation one shade darker/lighter or getting a natural tan (with the chance of potential future wrinkles) are fine. Wouldn't advise a spray tan, though. Spray tans tend to look bad, or at least they're notorious for being more noticeable when they go wrong. I've seen a lot of orange Korras.

It's never stated in canon (in fact, he talk about his music in terms of digital tools and also we can assume he made Pumpkin Party in Sea Hitler's Water Apocalypse), but giving him a "real, authentic human guitar" might work. You're right, it's a lot of Olive and Cerulean. I'm guessing people don't want to be labeled as special mary sues by picking one that's too high or too low.

The painter's tape is still on the hilt but I made this Caledscratch for my brother last year over the span of four days. (He decided he wanted a prop last minute and refused my offer to make him a SORD out of craft foam and glitter) It's not bad considering I sort of just used what was in the garage to make it. I definitely want to remake the electronics panel on it with some nicer dials and buttons though.

Question, how do you deal with any sort of "quality control" in your cosplay communities at meetups and such?
Do you think it's reasonable to set a bar for people parttaking photoshoots? Like:
>All troll cosplayers must have body paint
>Human cosplays must have a wig
>Specific groups for humanstuck and genderbends
Or should the common shoots just be a free for all, and anyone who doesn't agree should just find a way to get their own pictures?

I think that in every group you see at a con photoshoot there will be one person who doesn't use a wig or doesn't have horns or body paint, or who's doing an au which doesn't make sense or a design making the character straight up unrecognizeable. It might be a bother if the rest of the group is good, but at the same time isn't that just your own problem? Where do you set the lowest bar? I've seen people use their real hair in technically good cosplays, but as a rule of thumb it's a big no. Some people really have tried their hardest but just didn't get there, at what rate can you exclude them? Are the con photoshoots ever more than a place to meet and maybe get a snap for the less ambitious cosplayers anyhow?

I don't know, I'm kind of curious if people see this as a problem to begin with, because I know that some people in these threads are occasionally bothered by it.

Comm shoots/meetups shouldn't have any sort of "quality control," aside from behaviour guidelines and the usual "seal your paint" admonition. As much as the "cosplay should be done for fun!" ideology is sometimes denigrated here, that's really what comms are about - a starting point for aspiring cosplayers and a place for people to casually participate.

Get your own shoot done if you don't want photos with lower-quality cosplayers; or expect that if you have a good enough outfit, photographers will pull you aside anyways to snap photos.

This. Comms and even con meetups are for cosplayers of every level, and it's a HUGE dick move to say "you must be this good to come." How else will people get better or be inspired to improve? Meetups aren't just for cosplaying, they're for meeting people, too. Sometimes shitty cosplayers are really sweet people you want to hang out with because they're really nice? Now I get if you're organizing a specific photoshoot group wanting to tighten quality control, and just asking everyone including yourself to be on your A Game. ime you will NEVER get quality photos from a comm photoshoot, even if your the only one of said character. the photos can be useful for self evaluation, but if you want nice photos of your cosplay your probably going to need to organize a private photoshoot. if your cosplay is good/your lucky photographers might pull you aside for a few photos at cons but its not something you should count on.
