Personally I love natural hair in lolita. Styling really just depends on what style you wear. With hair like yours, poofy double buns or one big bun (with clip-in straight bangs, bows, etc.) would be adorable for sweet. White/Japanese girls often have to tease their natural hair to oblivion to get those really poofy buns, but your hair is made for them!

For classic and gothic, I'd look into historical hairstyles (Victorian, Edwardian, even Rococo if you could find any that translate to modern usage) for black women. Even mid-20th century (30s–50s) hairstyles could look elegant with lolita with the proper accessories

Nope. Her coord are meh, she doesn't do her makeup well, she takes lame pictures of herself standing next to curtains and shoops the picture badly to have a depth of field effect. The only product I use in my hair is about a 50p sized amount of curl defining cream. If I don't use that, I get the same curls/body/volume but a lot more frizz. I don't have a lot of volume in my hair because it's so long that the length weighs it down.

Likely she used rag curls, or some method where you set the curls up more, and then jus tlet it down. The weight of your hair doesnt damage the curl much actually.

If your hair is naturally wavy or curly it will hold the curl better so if she is like that then moving wont break it up too much, although she does likely not do it often beause of the frizz that would happen.

This was my first dress, or coat really. I wound up just using a wig, but I know I wanted flufftails and was just messing around with my hair that day to see what was doable with all the layers I had in it. When I get my hair cut I usually ask for super choppy as a 'style'.

This is what I ended up doing. I had never tried lolita before this and I figured a dress coat was a good start even though thats all it really was. Not long after I actually bought my dress which was a donation set that went towards the Japan tsunami. I don't really have photos of that because after the dress I realized that lolita style really, while cute, wasn't /my/ style. I had followed the style for more than a year because purchasing my coat and trying natural hair styles before giving up [because I couldn't do any of the hair properly with my natural hair] and just opting to buy a wig. Don't get the generic clip in bangs. Find hair that already has a natural kink to it and has been straightened appropriately. The silky straight hair that Caucasians have always look odd and almost unnatural for people who don't have it naturally. Make it as realistic to your grade of hair as possible and keratin treatment the bangs if you have to keep it straight. It just makes it look that much better imo.

I'm sure you've already noticed with your hair as I have with mine that straightened curls look a lot different than the clip in products so I guess I don't really have to explain as much as I did.
