Does anyone have a suggestion for making a wig look dirty or greasy without... actually making it gross to wear?

8097186

What would be the best way to cut off all the hair below the line without making the wig look like it was hacked off? I'm absolutely awful with wigs which is why I've put off doing this until now. The ponytail is a clip in which makes it a little harder to straighten out and cut. Sorry for being terrible at these things.

>> No.8097202

>>8097186
Cut vertically into the hair always, and cut like the line shows, so the top or outer layers of the pony are sorter so it looks like a real ponytail. The hair there would have come from the front of the head so it'd be shorter in the tail than the rest of the hair

>> No.8097210

>>8097151
Honestly, using real hair would be best since it's meant to be limp and greasy anyway. If it's too short you can use extensions... but you're probably not willing to cut and dye it anyway.

>> No.8097229

>>8097186
Look into getting a pair of thinning shears. They're great for layering out initial, blunter cuts you might make while cutting off length or cutting in bangs. Practice by trimming the very ends of the ponytail and working your way to the final length you'll want, if that makes sense.

>> No.8097232

>>8097166
I'd assume it's much the same thing then but try to clip the clips into the netting? Part the wig fibers so the comb is stuck right into the base... if anything, sew the bun in if that wig isn't going to be used for anything else.

>> No.8097268

Yeah, I agree that for Ellie it's better to use real hair but my hair is in a pixie and too short to even use extensions and have them look right. :c

Make sure that your wig is thick enough, if not, add in more wefts. And if you can use heat tools on it, that would make it easier. Just cut some layers near the end tip and lift and tease the hair by smaller pieces at a time. Once you do that, you can lightly comb the top layer of hair to cover the teased mess. Use a flat iron to grab and flip the hair in the direction that you want it to point to.

Painting with marker takes way too much time and it's a hassle to get it on all the fibers. I tried it once and never again. Dip-dying it is probably the way to go. You need to kill the marker by putting the ink in rubbing alcohol to dilute it, and it should go into the wig fine.

does anyone know a place where i can buy realistic looking but thin wigs? i will probably be wearing a hat on top of it to cover the 'hairline'. price doesn't matter, i just want the wig to have nice fibers.

I posted this in the other thread but I'm at slight impatience and filled with a nervous feeling. I recently received my wig for Kotori Minami from Love Live! School Idol Project, and it came with an attachable clip for the side ponytail (much longer than needed, but of course) and she has a strange kinda "bun" that goes forward onto her forehead. I'm not sure how to get it, I'm really nervous of messing up with the wig because it's so soft and long, it's honestly gorgeous. Any advice?

I really want to cosplay pic related and use those necomimi brainwave cat ears. The only issue is the battery pack is quite large and all the tutorials I find for hiding the headband under your wig use long wigs to cover the battery pack.

I don't think it would be possible to hide the battery pack under the wig if I go that route though since it likely won't have enough hair on the sides. As a person with the necomimi, ehhhh, it's possible to fit it underneath her bangs. The battery pack is somewhat thin, so you should be able to fit it under there. testing the thing with one of my wigs it seems that it does fit in well. The battery packs do heat up a little bit so make sure to get a heat resistant wig. Chocola's little hair clip thing could hide the battery pack though, even if its lower down than on the character its going to definitely hide it for sure. I'd keep in mind the sensor that goes across the forehead, as that may be hard to hide unless you have really thick bangs.

That's the whole point though. Anon is trying to figure out if it's possible to hide the unit under the wig cap so it's not visible.

This is kind of stupid but I'm worried on how I should go about getting the volume before the braids. Any advice?

Use a thermometer in the water, you want it between 180-185 if at all possible.

Test an inconspicuous area with a quick flatiron pass to see if it's heat resistant, if it gets fucked up, drop the temp to like 120.

Do not pour boiling hot water on your wig.
