And yes, not all fat/chubby people are unhealthy, but a vast majority are. Yes, there exist people who are just naturally larger, take for instance plus size models, who obviously are not laden with fat. But those people are not the majority.
Furthermore, I've never met a person above a size 14/16 who wasn't fat and to a certain extent, unhealthy.
Health is also measured in a variety of ways, and the average person is not optimally healthy. A skinny person may be less healthy than a fat person in some circumstances, but yet more healthy than that same fat person in others.
I'll use myself as an example. For several years I worked on a farm doing heavy labor. My diet did not change, in fact, it probably got a little worse. I've always been fairly heavy, and my weight did not change much at all during the time I worked there. My nutrition was very poor and that showed in a variety of ways, such as my level of fatigue, among other things. However, I could walk up and down hills without wheezing myself to death, I could throw around haybales and poo buckets and wrestle down pigs. Comparing myself to my mother around the same time, she ate much healthier than I did, had far lower nutrition-related issues, but lived a much less active lifestyle and would get out of breath and have to take two breaks just carrying a basket of laundry from the basement to the second floor of her house.
We were healthy in different ways, however, neither of us were actually healthy. We're both fat and we know it. We have no delusions about the fact that our fat is holding us back.
People just need to be fucking healthy and stop making excuses when they're not, idc what size they are.

Fat pride is unethical for men and women. That being said, Kana is not fat. She has a bigger frame but look at her waist, it's beautiful. She just looks like she eats normal meals. Considering she's just a cosplay model, not runway, it's more realistic. It's actually difficult to achieve this figure. Fat people don't seem to get that. She actually cares about her appearance despite being curvy, something fat people tend to not give a shit about, or are too delusional to properly dress their size. Fat cosplay is hard because many of them don't realize that you can't just wear the stuff meant for "regular" sized people. A lot of them end up looking bad because they try to squeeze into smaller sizes or don't know how to make their own outfits to fit their frame, or, even worse, just rely on their huge tits to complete the outfit.

Plus by being larger, they naturally attract more criticism, so they need to have good wigs, good makeup, and overall just make the look WORK. What looks "okay" on a normal person is going to look awful on a larger person, so they need to work extra hard on their cosplays, which many of the ones I see at cons don't really do.

A person can, for the most part, control how fat they are. There are some rare circumstances where it's just out of there hands, but even then that's just fat and not critically obese. Basically anyone can slim down or tone up to look like a superhero.

No one can change their skin color (at else not without some freakish plastic surgery). It is impossible to just run more or eat less twinkies to change what ethnicity you are. And when something is so far beyond any conceivable amount of human control, it is ridiculous to judge someone wearing a costume based upon such concepts. What about little people? I've worked as a fitness trainer for nearly 6 years now, and I can tell you that fat is not healthy, it holds you back. This lie of an overweight person being at their ideal health is absolute bogus. In a real, concrete example, I had this woman - only 40lbs overweight - who wanted to get thin for her wedding. This woman was an athlete, a long distance runner, and was damn good at it. She came from a large family of chubby athletes. I think her mile on her first day was 6.50 I believe? Which is really good and honestly faster than many women I know. People like her would be used in conversation to "prove" that chubby people are healthier.

After a year of training, she lost about 30lbs but gained a ton of muscle - 19% bodyfat percentage in the end from 38%. Her last mile before her wedding was 5:11, which is really closing in on the women's world record.

Everyone is better off at ideal bodyfat percentage. Everyone. No exceptions. The ability to get there, only hampered by time, current health, and willpower. The myth of overweight people living longer is skewed by athletes being mainly in the overweight category, and by the fact that most people lose weight as they are dying and are thus added into the normal and primarily the underweight categories. There's a reason the longest lived nations in the world are trim.

I will say that you cannot tell bodyfat percentage by eye. Many "chubby" women can be more fit than they appear.

Without seeing you personally, there are dozens of reasons. It might be that you retain fat on your stomach, which in this case would be a diamond shape or sometimes an apple. It could be that you are retaining water over your belly, typical of people with high salt diets regardless of how much water you drink. It could be hormonal, especially if it's more firm than squishy. It could be that you are eating meals that are too large, causing your belly to distend.

I would recommend first visiting your doctor (if you can) before starting any health change, just to be sure you're otherwise healthy and to check your bodyfat percentage. If you can't visit the doctor, visit a gym and see if they do it free. If you're between 17-31%, you're perfectly healthy. Do not go below 17% without constant doctor or trainer monitoring. Only top athletes do so, and it can be horribly unsafe. If anyone recommends you go under around 12%, they're literally trying to kill you.

The easiest, least painful change to make is to eat your meals more slowly. Purposely distract yourself while you eat. From the first bite, it takes 20 minutes for your brain to register anything has been added and start making you feel full. Ideally you would exercise both aerobically and do weight training, lower your salt intake, increase your protein, hopefully nab some omega 3's since it helps many people feel full and alert, but all of that requires a certain lifestyles, incomes, etc.

Both muscle and bone will make an impression despite fat and water swelling. You'll hear many chubby or even weighty women say they can see their ribs. This is because only muscle and really heavy layers of fat will obscure them. I have a softly defined 6-pack, and it has been equally visible across 20lbs. (Graduation really killed my diet a few years back, lol. Normal now.)

Pinch your skin. The skin on your stomach is very slightly thinner than the thickness as your forearm. 2-3mm. Some ethnicities have thicker skin, but it's 1mm at most in either direction. (NE Asians have thickest typically, Caucasians have thinnest) When you pinch your stomach, avoid areas directly adjacent to the navel as that area has hormonal fat. Anything more than ~6mm between your fingers means there's fat there. Relax! It is healthy up to 2.5cm! But if it's really hard to pinch, then you are carrying some weight on your belly, and traditional weight loss techniques can help. If you can pinch it easily and it's barely more than 1cm, then definitely see the doctor.
