Belts can be done in lolita, you just have to be very particular about the ones you choose. The vast majority of normalfag belts found nowadays would be out of the question, but there are some belts I've seen on taobao, as well as some really cute vintage ones that would work imo.

Me also! This is awesome. In my case I'm tall as fuck and have a long torso. I love how versatile skirts are, but I feel like I never pull them off well. I don't know how to wear cutsews these days. I got into lolita in the mid-2000's (when Japanese brands still mispelled them as cutsaw) then dropped out and only recently came back.

Pic related isn't me, but was a perfectly good casual cutsew+skirt coord back then (baby cutsew and Meta skirt), but I know is unacceptable now (not just because of the striped socks)

Also a bust lolita here, wondering how can one coordinate well with a skirt.

There was some other girl I saw post something in Pintucks and Lace who had an indie brand doing only commissions. Her work looked solid enough but I can't remember who it was. I'm sure there's lots of people who would answer if you posted in the sales comms looking for a commission.

To more experienced lolitas - I'm new to lolita. I have a long torso so a lot of JSKs look kind of frumpy on me and make me look boxy (my natural waist is lower than the waist on the dress so I look like a rectangle). Do any of you have this problem? Do you look better in skirts?

I'm in the same boat. Got into lolita over 10 years ago but things have moved on in my absence. I actually think cutsews always looked nicer as part of casual lolita-inspired outfits. Like actually with jeans, leggings shorts and things. Don't get me wrong, I like lolita proper to not be on the OTT side either.

I think i can only fit dropped waist skirts a la AP, i'm lucky to be 5'2 so they don't look like mini skirts but some arent even lolita!

I have this problem as well. I look better in skirts! I would suggest looking for some of Haenuli's older releases, like Cinderella. They feature very long bodices and would be more flattering.

I have the same issue and that's why I love skirts. Otherwise there's dresses with thick belts at the waist which can make the waist somewhat lower or vests and jackets over dresses if those have better waists. Also just learn to see how low the waist is on dresses from pictures. Many of them are intentionally higher waist than natural.

Maybe i have a different body shape? I have tiny shoulders, bust and skinny arms while my waist at its smallest is 70cm, i carry more weight on my hips or thighs but i'm not chubby for my weight. So some skirts are also a bit tight on me if they sit in my natural waist.

I struggle with coording skirts honestly. Its probably related to my short torso but I feel like skirts look a bit awkward on me. I do like to coord with with items like vests, cardigans, and belts though. I've bought several skirts recently to force myself to practice coording with them.

Anons, I'm in need of some help. As I'm sure others have experienced, IW's skirts rarely if ever come even close to the max stated measurements and indeed sometimes not even halfway there. Most IW skirts I've owned seemed to have a comfortable max of about 64cm, when many of them are supposed to be 70-75cm max stretch. Yes, stated measurements are garment measurements, but being well under 2-3cm under that and still not fitting is the issue.

Can anyone share any IW skirts they own or have owned which DO reach a comfortable max of over 64cm? I'm 66cm so I can just manage to wear them but it's really not comfortable for daily wear or going out to lunch/dinner, which sucks because I love the look of their skirts for casual wear.

Traditionally people like cardio and interval workouts for that but there's a growing trend of folks who like to lift to burn their calories.

Provided you're as thin as you can be, you have no excess fat on you, and you'd still like to reduce waist size. Your only option is to work on training those core abdominal and oblique muscles which can bring you in just a tetch more. However depending on your build this may not get you very far. If you've got a short torso, even corseting won't bring that waist in.

The muscles themselves will not reduce in size and the human will not lose mass. The abdominal and oblique muscles act as a girdle for our internal organs. By strengthening them, we make them better able to hold us in. Sort of like our own personal spanx. This can reduce waist size, though not dramatically.

I can coordinate skirts in outfits that are all or nearly all the same colour, but other than that I'm stuck. Or I can coordinate them with boleros and cardigans, but I only have one or two of those so I don't have enough to match all the different skirts I have. I could definitely do coords with bustiers, but that's just turning it into a fake JSK then treating it like a JSK coord. I find corsets can help make skirts look less blocky too, but I've only used them in one-colour coords.

I have the Himari skirt (from the Penguindrum collab) in black, and while I can just about zip it up with a waist of about 68cm, it's very difficult to do so, even when my blouse is untucked. The listed max is 73cm. Heck, it's hard to zip up when my waist dropped to 65.5cm at one point. The shirring is very strong on it. It's crazy, as I have tons of room in their non-shirred dresses with a max of 72cm on teh waist, even with a blouse on. It's also very annoyign, as it's a really lovely skirt.

Combination of a busty and longer than japanese average torso here. OPs tend to hit 5cm above my natural waist. JSKs with high neckline (aka standard BTSSB cut) make me look heavy and awkward. I have a problem with finding perfectly fitting shirts so I wear skirts as daily items and rarely ever in full "proper" coords.

JSKs with tied straps are a godsend. Adjustable ones are good too, though they require you to lower the buttons manually. I also modified 2 or 3 dresses by cutting and adding more length to the straps myself.
Arched, lower neckline is more flattering than a straight one. Accentuate and tighten your waistline with waist ties, belts or even just ribbon. Don't pin bows or brooches there.
