i wear hime lolita, but outside of lolita i wear alternative clothing [i don't have piercings/tattoos, so it doesn't interfere with lolita]. i also go to a lot of rock/metal concerts. recently my com found my personal tumblr, and got mad at me because i'm flying out to denmark and rome to see my favorite band [muse] live instead of attending an important meet they had been planning for a long time. i bought the tickets before they started planning the meet, and our com is in northern USA so flying out is a big deal for me. a lot of the girls in my com don't like that i go to concerts and have started to get snarky/rude about it. they even made fun of me for buying expensive guitars.. even though we all buy expensive dresses...?

are there any other lolitas whose interests contrast their looks? half of me wants to look like a princess, but the other half of me just wants to be in a rock band!

i can relate to you anon! i'm a cosplayer and lolita who outside of jpop, has been going to indie concerts and music festivals since middle school. i got some hate from my close cosplay friends when i told them about me smoking weed on a regular basis. half of me is sweet lolita/cosplayer and the other half is concert goer/stoner. i often try to find other people in my comms who listen to indie music so i can have real conversations with them, but it's almost impossible.

I feel dirty for creating a potential Lolita faux pas but I had an idea for a glam rock coord for a while when Adam Lambert & Queen where touring.
>tfw didn't buy tickets in time anyway

I wear Lolita and I'm ftm so I guess I fit in this category? I've always loved frilly girly things, but I've always felt and identified as a guy. Some people think that's weird and defeats the purpose of becoming male, but brolitas exist? So I don't see why ftm brolitas can't but w/e. Plus it's not an everyday thing for me, I only wear it out of town and/or it's someplace nice.

I feel you though, I love j-rock/visual kei/American alt and rock bands. I kinda did something similar, I flew out to Chicago to see LM.C while they were there. I'm from California though so it wasn't as big a trip as yours haha. I love punk clothes, especially Japanese street fashion (my favorite stuff is Hangry&Angry and Sexpot revenge), so I own a lot of that kind of clothing too. I don't belong to a com though or have Lolita friends so I don't get shit for not wearing Lolita or for liking alternative stuff from other Lolitas.

Wear what you like when you want on your own free time Anon, let sandy bitches be sandy.

How old are they? Are they under the delusion that you have to be a lifestyler to wear loli? Also how important do you have to be in your comm for people to get upset you aren't coming to the tea party to end all tea parties?

Concerts are far from the worst you could do unless you're a Juggalo or Gwar groupie.

holy shit
is this why live concert attendance is down? because it's not cool to go to concerts?

I listen to stuff like cancer bats, flogging molly, bane, a wilhelm scream, comeback kid, have heart, etc. I also like to wear horrendously frilly clothes from time to time. I have an addiction to food jewelry. Don't worry op, you're not totally alone.

Get your mental illness fixed before you buy expensive clothes. I cannot believe part of the medical community is starting to cater to you fucks. Anything to make a buck. Being gay is biological. Being transgendered is literally a mental disconnect that needs to be treated without fucking surgery. As a doctor and a lolita I hate you people. Sincerely fuck off.

I'm heavy into the punk scene and I wear sweet and gothic lolita. I have quite a few piercings but they're easily hidden when I'm in lolita. honestly there's no problem with going to rock concerts and dressing in lolita as long as you're aware that they're two separate hobbies

I'd assume it's because concerts have become really expensive to go to, excusing the ones with free attendance or student discounts. It's not so bad for some groups with smaller levels of popularity but it's easier to just sit at home and listen to music than pay around $100 to get your eardrums blown out for a couple hours.

Anyone who describes their style as hime is undoubtedly a newbie to the fashion, who just read down one of those substyle lists that include "pirate lolita, guro lolita" etc as legitimate substyles and picked one that sounded appealing.
