Posting some plus size inspiration I like.

As for tips I would say plus size girls or large chested girls should absolutely not wear full shirred jsk. I know it fits your measurements and then some but it is not flattering at all. Full shirring is not actually meant for plus size, and makes you look fat and your boobs look sad.

It's really not hard to be plus size in this fashion, there's tons if brand that will fit and look good if you're honest with yourself. At 5'1", 150 pounds, with G cup breasts I have a closet with plenty of brand that looks fine and I don't go around with boob loaf all over the place.

Boleros that actually fit are great for flattering larger figures since they can help give more of a waist and can cover up minor fit issues in the bust. Lower neckline blouses can help break up larger chests and shoulders, and more streamlined blouse sleeves are best for minimizing bulk up top. Also, fuller hairstyles are nice since they can also help to balance the overall appearance as long as you're not being swallowed by them.

So I p much have one of the most inconvenient body shapes for lolita. I have a long torso, super broad shoulders (43.5") and back, and my bust is like 6" bigger than my underbust and 10" bigger than my waist. On top of that I am about 5'8". Should I just only buy custom made everything? Stick with skirts forever? I was thinking about buying an enchantilly piece but I am afraid I would look a frumpy, broad-shouldered mess in it. I haven't been able to find examples of plus size girls wearing enchantilly who haven't stretched the shirring to the max so it's hard to imagine how it might look on me.

And to contribute to the thread here's a coord I really like

My bust is 102 cm with a sports bra - 106 with a regular one.

Some of the newer releases I own that are really fantastic are Cameo Window and Victorian Letter, both tiered versions. They have adjustable straps, which is absolutely necessary with a larger cup size. The Victorian Letter JSK is honestly a huge freakin' dress, and it looks good on my bust even with a normal bra.

Some other pieces that look good are the Twinkle Girl JSK set by Baby, the dropped waist helps big time to combat boob loaf - which isn't always about whether or not your breasts are pressed flat. Having space between the bottom of your bust and your waist line is important. Baby's shirring is also pretty forgiving as opposed to AP's.

Meta fully shirred JSKs are really nice too, I like to wear a cardigan/bolero over mine because it doesn't give much definition to my waist, but the straps are adjustable and actually slip off my shoulders.

Also - don't be afraid to alter JSK straps, just lengthening the straps makes a HUGE difference in appearance - especially on larger chests.

4 inches =/= 4 cm. I wish I could knock my bust down 4 inches. The sports bra I wear flattens things pretty nicely though, but I've never tried real binding - I worry it'd cause too much of a boob loaf.

My biggest advide as a plus sized lolita and it depends on how big you are But ballance out not oonlycolors and themes like how any lolita should but also size. With the big fluffy pettis and if you have a large bust i sugest going for bigger hair. Having straight hair or shirt hair can kind of make your head look odly small. I would say go for bigger wigs, hime style or twintail wigs may help.

Make sure your dresses fit well and dont look like your squeezed just bairly into them with the shirring so streched it looks uncomfortable. If something is too small get it altered. Try and define your waist too usually helps.

A lot of brands now are rather forgiving with size... Expecially meta though soem of there dresses go suprisingly large. I have a 110 bust last i measured and most of metas stuff has lots of comfortable wiggle room and dont look streched out on me.

That's surely the standards applied to many people called fat, especially here on cgl.
I'm probably a big baby because the Classic Lolita brands like MM or VM don't fit me, especially with a big bust.

>>8098090
>>8098097
Underskirts and movable straps are my friends... Any more suggestions for pieces that would fit? I do own a fair share of burando but I am always looking for more, especially for Classic.
Most trouble I have is because of my boobs and the fact that I only own/want to buy dresses as skirts do not suit me. I know AP fits larger girls (I've seen it myself irl) but I'm more into btssb and IW.

I don't think (and have been told several times by friends/family...) they suit my bodyshape very well. If I tuck in the blouse I just feel like walking boobs/poofy skirt.
Might not be very rational but since I like dresses more anyway and people told me they suit me better than skirts, well, I'm sticking to dresses.

I considered it but since AP usually has a cupcake shape and is so damn short I have always been a bit hesitant if it suits me. Not to mention that the unprinted stuff seems to be much harder to get second hand.

The only way he could have found this thread is if he went out of his way to look for it specifically on this board which means he's probably a Type-B LTB. It's going to depend on where the waist is intended to sit and where it actually sits on you. I also consider my underbust measurement. If that can fit into the max with at least 3cm to give for breathing room, it's usually good, but I always give myself extra leeway (about 6-10+ cm) so that it's not obviously so snug looking.

>don't feel fat enough to be an inspirational fatty-chan
I know that feel anon. I'm 5'6, 143lbs, and I have 96 bust and 80 waist plus really broad shoulders and fat arms. So hard to buy j-fashion clothing, since most things either don't fit my waist or my shoulders and arms. I once posted in some body type thread her on /cgl/ calling myself chubby, and a lot of girls raged on me because I apparently wasn't fat enough to call myself chubby. I'm pretty good at dressing flattering for my shape, so that might have been some of the reason though (even though I did state my measurements).

Thought, I do agree with some of the anons here, 76cm waist seems to be just inside the maximum in a lot of lolita. I wouldn't call you fat at all, but you might be a bit chubby depending on how you carry your weight.

I'm not really that big on the hips, my measurements are 96-80-98. JSKs usually fits me, but it's hard finding blouses and OPs because of my shoulders and arms. I also have long arms as well, so it's stretchy lolita cardigans and other long-sleeved stuff are often too short on the arms. Skirts are usually a lost case as well.

I don't really dress much lolita, more otome, since I'm pretty good at coording "normal" store clothing into otome and similar, and it's not as easy for lolita since they have more specific guidelines.

I actually just recently lost some weight after getting a puppy, so I have gone down to 78 right now. Too bad I'm too busy watching the puppy to bother dressing up much now.

Almost at your measurements and same here. The problem is the bust for me - not only is it often on the maximal measurements side, but also most dresses aren't actually designed to fit that much boobs into them. They might strecht to that point but then they won't look good on you, the bodice will fit awkward and the straps are to short, etc etc... Same with blouses. The gaping buttom of doom that leaves me almost always in tears once I try them on, and in shame someone of my comm might magically find out that under the JSK the blouse fits awful and the buttons gape despite being under the max. measurements.

I find that many IW pieces are a lot more forgiving and also the straps are often moveable which is incredible helpful.

Tube bodices aren't designed for anything other than very petite frames with small busts. They will always look awkward as is on anyone who is above a b cup or moderately above the minimum measurements. Even if it stretches that far it's not going to look good at all.

Sometimes moving the buttons on the straps helps. Sometimes nothing you can do will make it work with a blouse or as is for the OPs. If you want to go with IW, invest in boleros and nice cardigans, you're going to need them.

Different anon but I go with cropped cardigans or ones with nice details like lace or peter pan collars or add a detachable collar on top and a brooch or pin of some kind if they are bland. I've also altered a few to be shorter so they end at a more appropriate length.

Plain cardigans do really bring a coordinate down, but there's a lot of ways you can make them visually interesting rather than just throwing them on top.

I do prefer nice boleros over cardigans though.

Yeah I will agree that boleros do work better. I have a few but they're also plain. Like I mentioned before, I have a lot of aspects of my wardrobe I'm trying to improve, I just get easily distracted by main pieces. Especially with how much AP has been releasing lately. The majority of my non-main pieces are offbrand/thrifted which is why they're plain. But I'll definitely try to find ways to improve what I already have too.

How does one classify a plus size -lolita-? Like not just plus sized in general, but in lolita. I'm losing weight but I'm scared people view me as plus sized (no offense to plus sized girls, I think they can look great! Just... Not me.)
Does it depend on how their body carries weight? Like if a girl has a normal waist, but stocky legs would you put her in the plus sized category?

Other anon's answered it, but you have probably seen her around. For some reason, there's an anon had has a serious vendetta against her.

To contribute, I don't have much, except for legwear, which is more or less common knowledge. If at all possible, tights are a better option than socks in my experience of being a fatty. Socks make my legs look fatter, but tights thin them out. For one thing, you won't have that knee fat problem, and you won't have any fat on the top that I've seen some girls have and it's more streamlined. Also flats are a terrible idea. You don't have a plus size waist for a person who's 5'3. I don't know what or who gave you that idea, but you're mistaken. If you feel bad about it then there are plenty of ways to healthily diet and exercise to get your body into fitter shape, but don't be disappointed if you don't break the threshold of 24~ inches because it sounds like that's the limit for your body to maintain its health. 95 pounds is a very low body weight for your height.

/cgl/ in general tends to label anyone who doesn't appear thin in photos as chubby. This could mean someone at a good median healthy weight (not on the low end but not on the high end) could be lumped in with plus size. Someone that carries a lot of weight in their boobs or in their legs where it's easily visible might be lumped in with chubby too, especially with a rounder face.

Regular fashion standards put plus size at over 86cm usually (roughly 12-14 depending)

Lolita is typically designed for a very specific build and frame. Typically over a size 6-8US (over 92cm bust, 76cm waist) might fall into "plus size" although it might still be in the medium range for standard western fashion. But at that point is where you start to have little issues with things like princess seam panels not lining up to your bust properly, shoulders in blouses/OPs being a little snug, not sitting at exactly the right spot, shoulder straps a little too tight or high up as is. All those things tend to be workable up until you reach above 106-110cm bust and maybe like 90cm waist which usually is within standard plus size. At that point, there are still brand options to work with but it really starts to look wonky.

There's what I like to call "ideal lolita size" (Japanese M, or US S) which is ideal frame, height, and measurements. Then larger than ideal lolita size, but not quite plus size (JP L, LL or US M, L), and then plus size (JP 3L-4L US XL, XXL) an I guess it can range to very plus sized (JP 5L-8L, US 3XL+)?

I think its personal opinion. It used to be that anyone who couldn't fit brand was plus sized. But then brand started to release larger sizes. personally I think if bust is 100cm or higher, and waist 80cm or higher is plus sized.

But then plus sized doesn't really mean landwhale, some girls can be completely proportionate with some chub and look good. Similarly with a larger body frame. But if your all fat with little shape, that's landwhale territory.

I feel like this advice is why a lot of plus sized girls look like boobs+skirt with no waist. The smallest part of you is often not your waist when you're plus sized.

Stand up, and bend sideways. That indentation is your waist, and you'll probably look better if you wear skirts there and get dresses that have bodices long enough to rest on your natural waist, particularly if you're busty. Empire waists and empire waist effects only look good on people with small busts/shoulders.

Still, my goal is to have a body like those thin as shit asian girls, so I don't know if lifting weights or doing exercises that are heavy on the calves will make me look slightly more muscular.

My legs are already pretty thin and my bust is around 77 cm so my waist is the one that's ruining everything.

I would say use myfitnesspal and definitely definitely check that you're getting enough protein and aren't starving yourself - at your size it's about redistributing your weight. Cakes and shit get stored as fat so all the exercise in the world will not get rid of your tummy unless you stop eating crap. If you're worried about building muscle and want like...gyaru proportions, then stick to high rep/low resistance with weights (like pump class with light weights as opposed to weights room doing 3X8) and cardiovascular exercise (fun things like dance or more intense stuff like running, swimming), and incorporate pilates and yoga. Even K-pop idols use weights though, so they should be part of your routine. You want to have like..the H line and a slight S-shape ideally, even if you're thin overall.

I gained like 30lbs over the past two years (depression, finances, stress from school/work) but even when I was the 30lbs lighter my bust made me plus-size for most pieces and my waist was pushing it too.
At the time I was 97-74-104.

I'd classify plus sized as those who can't fit into standard sizing for whatever brand it is/brand average for standard sizes. Could be someone like me who is fat or it could be someone who is taller and broader in general, etc.

>>8115191
It's only "bad" if you compare it with her body shape/weight and gyaru/idol standards which are, admittedly, well underweight because most of them advertise their weight as 40-45kg regardless of height. There are all these ideal proportions and measurements and ratios floating around, but generally desirable sizes are Asian XS waist like 22-23",hip 32-33", thigh no larger than 19" and then 5:3:2 proportion for thigh/calf/hip if you have "perfect" ratio she's quite rectangular in the torso with 77cm bust (30.5") and 65cm (25.5) waist because she eats crap and has extra fat on her tummy. If she had lower body fat percentage it would look better so what she needs to do is not lose weight but build a bit more muscle so she can be smaller, same weight, but look more "toned" (like H-line for tummy/S line for body)
25.5 isn't bad at all but it doesn't always mean it looks good on someone, at 25" waist I still have chub and really need to be about 23-23.5" not to have it/to see ab outlines regardless of how much ab work I do, vs >>8115250 who is 4" taller and slender with waist measurement only 1" larger.
