Because they aren't character aimed at appealing to guys? I have a few gay friends who like yaoi but even then they would probably prefer to be character from other series that are more interesting than having the sole character trait of "that yaoi twink." One guy is shorter and has been Toushiro Hitsugaya in the past and confessed he wouldn't mind getting raped in the bathroom by an Aizen or Gin cosplayer. Also those character rarely have distinctive outfits or looks unless we're in Gravitation or DM territory. Like I think OP pic is Junjo?

I am a guy who has done some shonen ai cosplays. Sadly, I have yet to ever find a partner to do them with, and it was a while ago, so I don't even have many of the pics anymore. I think I have a pic of a Shuichi I did a couple years back, but that is it.

This is a good reason. I wouldn't consider a lot of male characters from BL series/games to be very cosplayable by guys because they have fairly effeminate designs that are easier for women to dress as. There is pleny of manga that caters to gay men but it's not very similar to what is made for a female demographic.

I didn't go to it but I'd imagine a decent number of guys interested in gay series were at TCAF last year when Est Em, Chip Kidd and Gengeroh Tagame were guests.

The Asian cosplayers have been doing fakebois for years, like Yuegene Fay during her Jrock cosplay phase about 10 years back. A number of Chinese cosplayers are still doing it too.

I like to cosplay some BL characters but honestly if I ever saw a guy cosplaying one, I would only assume he's doing it to get girls, has a girlfriend force him into it or just maybe perhaps just vaguely enjoys it but that would be rare.

BL isn't made for guys, it's made for girls and targeted at girls. The stuff made for guys is usually the hardcore bara stuff like Gengoroh Tagame or similar artists, Mentaiko etc. Not something to cosplay let's be honest (Okinawa Slave Island cosplay when).

Women cosplaying BL stuff is fine by me, I prefer it though I'm big on OPs example of girls who try and make it a whole fake boy thing. I'm also not big on the west trying to do the contour/BL style make up and doing it so wrong it looks like dirt on their face.

Machine translation has come quite a long way these days and it was also combined with my own translation. I understood majority of it just fine, it doesn't change how boring the sex scenes were and the plot didn't make up for it either. The characters were all quite boring too. It's not the worst but it's not something I would ever pay for, it's a matter of taste but it's seriously not the game I would pick for a western release. Perhaps it's exciting to have it officially come out uncensored but an anime dick being uncensored doesn't really change anything to me.

Some better choices for official translation I feel is something like Lucky Dog 1, Omerta, Si-Nis-Kanto or maybe even one of the Kami-sama games. Omerta is pretty big right now and just had the PSvita release like DMMD. Lucky Dog 1 is a classic, a bit old but it still holds up really well. Kami-sama allows you a lot of choice in sex scenes and how you play the game and was a lot more interesting, it also benefits from having two in the series with different settings. I'm not really picking based on sex scenes though, more ones that would benefit from translations (though LD1 has a nearly complete one).

At the end though it's still taste and opinion, however if someone tells me they think NTY is the best BL VN ever then I just assume they don't play many.

Personally when I was young and closeted I found some of the better yaoi out there preferable to most western gay media. They presented relationships I liked more, with angst I could relate to. Out of about 200 yaoi tankonbon, one-shots and series I read during that period (mostly, admittedly, for the sex), only about five fitted the "relevant to actual gay life in a nice way" criteria I had, though. The only one I can remember off the top of my head that I don't dislike now is Konbini-kun. I did like some of Hinako Takanaga's too, but some of her ukes were really excessively too young and feminine for me.

Back hair is pretty hard to remove. My brother has it and has to go get it waxed every month or so, and he says it's pricey.

The first few episodes were pretty dumb but.. Okay, all of the episodes are super dumb, but they have plenty of funny moments too. I'd say stick with it and stop hoping for it to be faithful to the genre in any serious capacity.

Anime cons? If you are able to detect one, they have mostly gone totally overboard so that you don't really want tot talk to them.

Anime communities/facebook? Good luck finding one. I did find a few, but that can't realyl be all there is!
