The other day when I was with my friend in lolita, we were at this busy shopping center. Of course we were stopped for pictures and a line formed, but one of the people taking pictures stopped us. She was this mature asian lady that was very serious and she was really interested in what we're wearing and told us to call her after giving us her card. She's a professional photographer apparently? I'm just kinda surprised, has this happened to anyone else? What should we even do, try to get free nice pictures out of it?

The "daily" one simply wears lolita daily and considers lolita dresses as "clothes"

"Lifestyle" lolita is often a codeword for "we are lolitas at heart" which means they like the ideal of being some fragile doll princess more than the lolita clothes themselves, the term is very attractive to teens who think they can be lolitas without actually owning any lolita clothing, so it's become a magnet for poor weeby wannabes.

Even a commonman in a China can set up a web shop, have a shipping calculator, and make efforts to sell to you direct.

Brands can't afford to make huge quantities of their stuff because they can't predict what will and won't be a hit. Sure one print might sell out on the day of release, but other prints have been out for months and are still sitting in shops/online without having been bought out first.

I'm not saying that that's the only reason, but you can't expect brands to churn out a ton of a release when they don't know how it will do. Overwhelming demand usually gets re-releases or second runs like Misty Sky and DDC.

Lief and Haenuli do made to order releases that last usually a few days. Customers with money get to order what they want, poorfags who can't scrounge the money still poor, and the resale value isn't affected unless there's damage or the colorway/cut is bad.
Brand doesn't waste their time or money making a shitload of things that won't sell very well.
Everyone wins.

I wouldn't give them that much credit, I think they're just bad at the business end. It's practically the "build a better mousetrap, world tramples a path to your door, your lousy business practices drive your profit down and you lose customers for being terrible to deal with anyway" sort of tale.

I don't think they've figured out that there's money to be made when one specific cut or colour proves to be more popular than others, eg for CDC, the navy colourway gets scalped the most whereas AP has had to put the pink and lavender on discount just to get them out of the shop. But because not all of the items sold out, they're not going to open a preorder just for the navy colourway, so girls continue to throw money at scalpers while AP loses out putting the unpopular colourways on discount.

Compare with btssb, who said they were going to try and discourage scalpers, and actually seem to be doing something by letting customers buy what they want. With some of the really popular releases (Midsummers Night's Dream, Ave Maria Madonna Lily), when it sold out in reservation they announced additional rounds of reservations, and the additional rounds for Ave Maria were specific to certain colours, I think Baby were somehow able to negotiate their production so that production of those popular colours were higher than others.

AP, in contrast, seems to have a production process that's slow, clunky and set in stone. Even just doing a preorder is like pulling teeth with them, if everything in the shop isn't sold out and being scalped they wouldn't even consider it.

I have considered myself an AP fan in the past, but it's now getting to the point where if I like a dress and it looks like it's going to be popular, I'm already looking for another dress to obsess over instead. I'm not going to encourage the scalpers, and I'm not going to buy a less popular AP release just so I can feel bitter about not getting the dress I wanted.

But made-to-order doesn't bring customers into the store. On release days, maybe at least 50 customers show up. Even if they don't get to purchase a main piece, they're in the store, money in hand, probably rage-buying something else. Also keep in mind that BtSSB is a much larger company than AP.

They're not going to get much bigger keeping their production runs small while the scalpers take all the profits, and possibly losing customers who are fed-up with their attitude/limitations at the same time.

I can appreciate these brands have limitations, but I also have mine. I'm not going to rage-buy something else just because AP judged wrongly and made too few of the dresses I wanted. As for going in-store, I can't imagine that working out either. How many times do you think you can stand to line up outside AP only to come home empty-handed? Yes and no.
The quality is really good but I'm not the type who'd buy their stuff first hand unless I'd 100% fallen in love with the item. The resale value is also quite low and I'm patient enough to wait for a piece, so that does influence my opinion. However if you're willing to pay the original retail price then I think you should go for it.

Excentrique is pretty niche and rather quite so you don't see a lot about them. Their items are also harder to find second hand, so keep that in mind! I guess it's like Jane Marple where older people buy their stuff and then hold onto it for a while.

I agree with >>8086787, I would only buy new if it's something you absolutely have to have and you don't care too much about resale. I've considered buying their corset vests for full price because I like how they fit and know I'd get a lot of use out of them.

Quality-wise, brand-new Excentrique is definitely on the more expensive end, up to around twice what you'd pay for a similar design from IW, for instance. That said, the materials are top-notch; all the hardware is metal as opposed to metallic plastic, and they use really nice fabric and passementerie. Patterns and lace are well-matched at seams, any stress-bearing buttons will be reinforced with a small second button on the other side so they don't come off or damage the fabric.

Resale value is usually around 1/2 to 2/3 the original price for popular pieces, but it can be crazy hard to find something again once it's sold out. To give you an idea of scale, their online store only gets stocked with five pieces of each color/size and I think the Marui store gets about the same.

Since the reservation period doesn't need to be that long, they also won't hurt their "exclusive" image.

For me personally, perfume scent is fine for me since I'm not allergic or particular sensitive to any perfumes. Usually airing them out gets rid of the scent. For body odor, I suppose light odor from places that make sense (like a light whiff of the armpits, idk) but nothing that's noticeable right off the bat.

I bought a BTSSB jsk off the egl sales almost two years ago. When I opened the package I was knocked back by a TERRIBLE scent - I couldn't believe it. It was all over every last inch of the dress. It just smelled completely awful and it was strong as fuck, too - I had to put it back in the bag it came in and tuck it somewhere as I researched how to clean it. Oh god I'm getting phantom smell of it right now as I type this, kill me. I'm not really sure how to describe it other than like....weird, musty, beachy, honestly the scent was so strange I'm not sure if it was bodily or something from nature or what. It was very, very bizarre and I'm still just puzzled thinking about it. But I was a stupid-ass pussy and was afraid to say anything to the seller about it, I know I absolutely should've though. I'm not sure if she forgot to wash it or she used some weird hippie shit to wash it idk. It wasn't cat pee either.
Anyways, the jsk was made of chiffon so I was able to soak it in my tub with cold water with woolite for delicates and throw it in the dryer on delicate, knocked the scent right out. Even putting it in the freezer didn't get the scent out, it just masked it and in a minute or so the scent would come back. Fake nun collars. I'm also interested in any sort of head accessories or small hats that are elegant for gothic/classic but not the usual bows or flowers. 20s stuff, stylized horns, crowns. Also decent looking (leather or pleather) fake bat ears to attach to any shoes. Embroided berets would probably also sell well if you can do that.
Honestly there are so many people doing bows and shit you have to have your own style and niche or just offer higher quality products.

Could someone help me?

I just received an op the other day through my shopping service(fromjapan), I just looked at it today and noticed there's some damage to one of the shoulder seams(it's pulling apart in the back a bit, this was not mentioned or shown on the sales page and I have not tried it on yet but was just about to), the waist ties weren't included(seller on y!a didn't seem to mention this), and two tiny orange speck stains(definitely was not from me as the dress was wrapped in two bags of plastic+the shipping package when I took it out, and it immediately was hung up in my closet between black dresses)

My package was insured so can I do anything form here? And what do I need to do?

I got rid of it after two washes and as the transaction went smooth otherwise, I left positive feedback. I messaged the girl, though, and told her about the small. I was pretty nice and told her that I got rid of it, so it's fine, but that she might be more careful in the future because some girls might react worse. I never got a reply or feedback. I had this happen to me with an AP OP I bought off the comm sales before, too. Depends on which replica it is. Some replicas, i.e. Milky Planet, you can look up real vs replica and there's posts out there that show you the differences. As far as I'm concerned no one ever replicates the actual brand tags on the inside if that's what you mean. There's also plenty of posts (egl and elsewhere) that show you typical things to look for when identifying a replica from the real thing (for example, if the pattern gets cut off at the end in an odd way like in the middle of the print). Did you buy something and aren't sure if you got ripped off with the replica or not? You could post here and anons could take a look at it if you can't tell from looking at pictures of the original.

Oo Jia does not replicate the brand tag as far as I know. Her replica's are not of bad quality imo but you can really tell the difference because the cut of the dress and the fabric are different.
I have Shirley Deer's Twinkle Ornament replica (which was very limited) and it's spot on. Never seen a replica quite like it, it is brand quality.
But even that doesn't have a fake AP tag inside.
No one can be fooled by DOL though. Horrendous quality.
There are a few new shops replicating though and they look very good on their sample photo's but I don't think any of them have fake tags inside either.
I've stopped purchasing replica's years ago and sold most of them off because I felt guilty though.
Are you afraid you have been scammed? It's possible that someone bought a cheap real brand kc and took the tag off, put it inside the dress to make it appear to be the original.
