They should clearly state newbies must be open to all opinions if they ask for it. They should encourage civil discussion and defend anyone who isn't breaking the rules. As long as it's not a personal attack or inappropriate rudeness then people who can't accept help when they asked for it should be discouraged from posting. I think this would in the long run help everybody since people will be honest with critique without fear of coming off as a bitch and new Lolita's have the opportunity to learn faster.

Has anyone else noticed a lot of people in rufflechat don't answer the topic of the question?
Like today, someone was asking why long dresses are considered part of the lolita silhouette but salopettes aren't. It's an interesting question but people were replying with stuff like "wear salopettes if you want to!" which.. wasn't the question, the question was if they fit under a specific definition or not.
I've seen it a bunch of times, the other one that sticks out is a girl asking about how to make interesting coordinates while travelling and a bunch of people responded with generic packing advice.

>> No.8026757

>>8024940

I'm torn over whether letting the community decide is the best move for the more contraversal changes (no replicas, no fandom-loli, etc).

These topics cause shitstorms precisely because so many 'questionable' lolitas comment bomb them in a swarm of bad advice which in turn provokes the more seasoned girls and trolls to get their panties in a wad and then everything snowball's from there.

Giving the well meaning but not well informed questionable 'lolitas' a chance to vote on the content might very well keep the status quo. After all, these are the people who keep posting about replicas/hot topic/ fandom/ whatever that keep pushing so many buttons and don't see the problem with asking in the first place....

What the hell. A girl posted on RC about Lolita the book but all she did was take someone elses review of it rather than read it herself then tries to lead a discussion about how the book doesnt relate to the fashion. Not that you need to read the book to talk about it, but what points do you have to back yourself up if you havent?? maybe im just going overboard but this is majority of lolitas. All they spout is "lolita isnt related to the book". Okay, rather than come off as youre embarrassed with the miscorrelation, how about you read the book yourself and think for yourself. I don't like it either anon. It doesn't really fit in with the look in my opinion, but I find pretty much all facial piercings are fugly on most people and a sign of trying to be "against the norm, IDGAF about opinions lol. 2edgy4u" type of people, so I'm pretty biased. Tattoos can be fine since they are covered up most of the time and very occasionally fit in with a coord (if you so happened to have a simple flower tattoo with a floral coord, I can how it might work, but most of the time if it's visible it's really gawdy. I guess I would have to say the same with the piercings. If you try hard enough it CAN work, but that would take effort, and only in gothic for the most part

I've noticed that each time a piercing thread comes up, less people speak out against them. I guess they are either of talking about the same shit, or sick of getting into discussions with the "everything works in lolita" crowd.

>>8039944
It's a shame. I actually like forums, provided that they are actually active enough. It's a good mix between being eventually known in your "community" on the site via your alias and not having your real name plastered everywhere. I feel it rather waters down opinions. However I never did have a grand fondness of livejournal. It was terribly slow back in it's heyday for my internet connection at the time, and so I never got into it. I hate that people act like lolita is a chonic illness instead of a fashion. Like "I AM a lolita" instead of "I wear lolita clothing".
I try to be nice to people who say "I'm a lolita too!" because chances are, I'm not going to see them again, and I can just be a pleasant memory in their mind. >> No.8043053

>>8043032
The major problem is approaching when it's obvious they're busy/doing something else/not in a mood or time or place that they can have a conversation with you. If you approach them and they don't respond, 9 times out of 10 they saw you and don't want to have to be outright rude and say they don't want to talk to you.
At conventions it's different because I expect to be stopped sometimes, but if I am walking to somewhere (not just slow roaming down AA or whatever) or am in the middle of a conversation, I'm going to be annoyed.
Generally, it's fine to stop someone if you're not interrupting them doing something. But be prepared you might look like a creeper if you're not in Lolita and aren't at a convention.

Exactly. This is the same reason I only go to meets if they are doing something I'm genuinely interested in. I also only have one lolita friend. The only time we bring it up is 'hey I saw this dress for sale you might like!' or when we ask each other advice on subjects we know the other knows better. And we were friends before we got into the fashion.

> If they look busy from the get-go (Checking their watch, walking quickly, in the middle of a conversation) than don't even try. They are busy, you're being rude.
> Once you approach, try not to be super... odd. A calm smile and a simple statement that you know the fashion are all you need, don't squeal or scream about it.
> Avoid bringing up Alice, Dolls, Bo Peep, cosplay, ect. I shouldn't have to say this but I have had someone claim to know about lolita fashion and then tell me I looked like I was cosplaying Alice in the same breath (I was wearing a black JSP with simple ruffles, pretty casual and nothing at all like Alice.)
> If they try to get away, turn their body to look away, or are clearly trying to end the conversation (or in my case smiling politely and saying "Thank you so much!" while opening up my bag and pretending to look for my phone while turning away) for the love of frills just fucking let them.

The best way to approach wild lolitas is to first offer a gift. Carry a piece a small piece of burando in your teeth and drop it at a midpoint between you two. This will show them that you mean well and will keep them from feeling intimidated. If they do not accept the gift, RUN! If they do, you can now perform the lolita greeting dance and inspect each others petticoats.

So many girls here cant see past their plastic faces and fake hair. To the good ones who arent here in the community to troll, thank you to you, and please whether or not you ever feel judged- keep doing what youre doing.
What I have learnt here is the immaturity of MOST of this group, how arguments have no logic, and everyone has a stick up their bum to get offended when someone asks if people worry about the judgements from other lolitas. I feel sorry for the trolls here, because they play out the defenses of their insecurities online, rather than actually make a life in the real world.
I would ask that the trolls look to mature and find some self-respect though. I won't 'bait' you by replying or reading any more comments, but your unwillingless to participate in a normal discussion without the use of petty insulting I find odd. You'd think being societal outcasts would teach you a thing about respect. No other community i have ever seen acts so petty and childish. Okay dress like a child, but there is no need to act like one in such an immature manner.
Peace.

Be careful of regional differences, anon! Attempting to drop the burando without first pulling your petti over your plastic face in a full display is grounds for an attack here in the south. We have standards.

People who know about lolita always seem to catch me when I'm being casual, lazy, or I'm bedraggled by a full day's running around. Why do people never want pics or wanna chat when I'm actually fully decked out? My luck is never right. I generally try to be nice, but I can admit I've been curt with screeching weebs/itas at cons. There are only so many you can handle in a day.

Seriously though, approach lolitas like you'd approach any other stranger on the street. We won't bite but we're also not magical uguu lovlies. If something wouldn't fly with a random stranger (like screaming or telling your life story or blatantly hitting on them) then it won't fly with a lolita, either. We're just regular people in the end.

Sorry; Americunt here. I honestly didn't know Saga is a girls name. It's a popular Finnish and Swedish name, if my google-fu is correct. Over in America, it's an "odd" name, and considering how much of a retarded weeb she seems to be, I highly doubt she even knows it's a legit name.
