They should clearly state newbies must be open to all opinions if they ask for it. They should encourage civil discussion and defend anyone who isn't breaking the rules. As long as it's not a personal attack or inappropriate rudeness then people who can't accept help when they asked for it should be discouraged from posting. I think this would in the long run help everybody since people will be honest with critique without fear of coming off as a bitch and new Lolita's have the opportunity to learn faster.

Wish people would use it only for posts that involve actual discussion (no 'what this print name?'), stop making personal attacks, and be more open to conflicting opinions

Has anyone else noticed a lot of people in rufflechat don't answer the topic of the question?
Like today, someone was asking why long dresses are considered part of the lolita silhouette but salopettes aren't. It's an interesting question but people were replying with stuff like "wear salopettes if you want to!" which.. wasn't the question, the question was if they fit under a specific definition or not.
I've seen it a bunch of times, the other one that sticks out is a girl asking about how to make interesting coordinates while travelling and a bunch of people responded with generic packing advice.

I'm torn over whether letting the community decide is the best move for the more contraversal changes (no replicas, no fandom-loli, etc).

I fully recommend the book 'Grotesque' , it's a gory crime novel by a Japanese author and none of the fucking characters are trustworthy so I always re-read it every few years because I don't know what to believe.

Also, 'Reading Lolita in Tehran' is a really good book about a lot of things, but it also does have a good section about the unreliable narration.

It doesn't really fit in with the look in my opinion, but I find pretty much all facial piercings are fugly on most people and a sign of trying to be "against the norm, IDGAF about opinions lol. 2edgy4u" type of people, so I'm pretty biased. Tattoos can be fine since they are covered up most of the time and very occasionally fit in with a coord (if you so happened to have a simple flower tattoo with a floral coord, I can how it might work, but most of the time if it's visible it's really gawdy. It's a shame. I actually like forums, provided that they are actually active enough. I hate that people act like lolita is a chonic illness instead of a fashion. Like "I AM a lolita" instead of "I wear lolita clothing".
I try to be nice to people who say "I'm a lolita too!" because chances are, I'm not going to see them again, and I can just be a pleasant memory in their mind. But really, we have nothing in common and nothing to talk about. Especially if we wear different brands/styles. The major problem is approaching when it's obvious they're busy/doing something else/not in a mood or time or place that they can have a conversation with you. If you approach them and they don't respond, 9 times out of 10 they saw you and don't want to have to be outright rude and say they don't want to talk to you.
At conventions it's different because I expect to be stopped sometimes, but if I am walking to somewhere (not just slow roaming down AA or whatever) or am in the middle of a conversation, I'm going to be annoyed.
Generally, it's fine to stop someone if you're not interrupting them doing something. But be prepared you might look like a creeper if you're not in Lolita and aren't at a convention.
