Surprised the hotel hasnt kicked the con out, it grew too big for the area 5 years ago, and thats not including the weeabos that ghost it

Hubby and I would have liked to but money had to go to other things. We were coming back from christmas party at my parents place and decided to see what hotels and places to eat are by the ontario con center.

On the plus side, there are a lot of hotels/motels and places to eat within easy walking distance of the convention center.

So how long before they release the official panel schedule? I'm beginning to see panel event invites for ALA here and there

I just commissioned my cosplay, because I'm a plebeian with no artistic skills and second rate procrastinator.

So who going this year? We're still taking applications for new talent.

Going, not ready at all. Cosplay has been on the back burner for me for months because of my job.

Bringing B.Jenet from KOF and Katie from Seconds for sure though. If last year is anything to go by, it is doable to Ghost ALA but it'll be a fucking pain in the ass. Assuming you have a room at the hotel, you can use your Key Card to go into the Gym and then take the Gym to the pool deck. But until sunday the Pool Deck and other common areas like the main lobby and outside of the convention will be the only things you can do.

It was very hard to sneak by the badge checkers downstairs and trying to get into a panel room or the vendors area without a badge just didn't work for me last year. But as long as it's just getting to the pool deck and you take a roundabout you should be good.

I'm pretty excited. It'll be my first ALA, a bunch of friends recommended it. My cosplay plans are mostly comfy simple stuff, I'm excited to hang out and enjoy the chill environment I've heard so much about. I'm glad I'll be able to experience it before it moves.

There is an entrance to the pool deck from the hotel that consistently never has anyone checking for badges at it.

My group and I never ghost but are always amazed that there's never any security in what seems like one of the main entrances to the pool deck.

The scariest thing is the random security hired by the hotel it self, but just assume the big guy in suits aren't cosplaying and stay away.

I've been trying to do more work on pieces for my AA Table and have been fixing up some cosplays while making a new one.

As the convention grows into its new space I wonder how ribbon collecting/hunting/trading will change. With more people it will eventually become almost impossible to track down individuals for ribbons and they will likely be out of the ribbon you want by the time you find them.

18+ panels are really hit or miss. As a general rule, panels that have '18+ onry' tacked on to something tame are usually cringy. Like 'ASK A HOMESTUCK: 18+ EDITION.'

Saboten had some really good 18+ panels last year. There was a really good two-part presentation on shibari, and the hentai voice acting panels are usually pretty funny. If they aren't funny, you haven't had enough to drink.

All I can say is that our live programming staff has been having a lot of issues and complications beyond their control and are doing the best they can. Yes, it's not pretty but we will have it done before the con. And this will not transfer into our future years, that's for sure.

What you do is you either
1. Fight off the staff (They're all DYEL weeaboos, you'll win) Aim for their radio so they can't call for real security.
2. Steal a random person's badge and run; cosplayers tend to hang their badges from places other than their neck.
3. Form an elaborate plot to sneak in through the windows, basement, ect
4. Stage a bombing so everybody leaves the convention; you can have fun outside the hotel if EVERYONE is outside.
5. Buy a badge transfer for some ridiculous price from some Jewfucker who bought like 20 badges to resell
6. Suck Maguma's dick for entry, and the dicks of all the staff.
7. Get smuggled in a suitcase

Iunno; they probably don't have the authority to kick people out just for being in the hotel. You probably just can't be allowed into the convention areas, so you'd have to wait for nighttime to party. I'd suggest doing #1 or #2, though.

Major attractions are the cosplay repair station which is stacked to the teeth with professional costumers and cosplayers who know sewing, prop work, make up, and wig styling, to assist anyone with almost any issue. We also have the con suite which is a room just sitting on the pool deck where you can grab a snack, a sandwich, a soda, etc and have a nibble to eat and keep yourself fueled between meals. (Not to be used as your primary eating source.) We also have benches and beanbags all over the place so you can sit down, relax, and unwind throughout the hallways~

Already explained in the SacAnime thread but it's because ALA is where a lot of trip/namefags/board regulars hang out, so the ALA threads tend to get more traffic and activity. Even though there are probably more people who go to SacAnime as a whole, less of them frequent 4chan or /cgl/.

I also think ALA is just in general a more fun con, part of which is the GET HYPE attitude people spread about it. Slightly older crowd, more of my con friends tend to go, and there's just a more fun, laid-back vibe. SacAnime feels like it's trying really hard to be a bigger con like Fanime, but it doesn't have the same pizzazz. Not sure why. Possibly because of a younger crowd/more concentrated fandoms (a lot more flavor of the month stuff at SacAnime than ALA). They also rely heavily on their programming, which is just meh at best if you're not into the guests.

If someone gives you their postcard and a letter stating that they're transferring their badge over to you (definitely check the transfer policy and make sure of all the details) then you can get a badge still at the door.
