Look up some drag tutorials on youtube. Salmon coloured concealer (or lipstick) is put on before foundation. The illamasqua cream pigment in androgen is pretty popular. Michael James does androgynous makeup and he's a pretty good resource for stuff like this.

Drag makeup is intended for poor lighting and doesn't hold up in bright or natural lighting.

I've used the neutralizing technique a few times, but I either end up with the neutralizing color showing through the foundation, or having to use too much foundation and ending up cakey.

You can see this in a lot of drag videos; there's an obvious orange or pink tint where their beard would be. It's not noticeable in places like clubs, though.

Nyx mosiac powder highlighter is matte and frmtotoe recs it. Idk about other matte highlighters short of foundations/concealers in a lighter color, also I never use them personally so i cant give an honest rec. Beauty Broadcast and Nathalie K on youtube have some videos where they go through drug store highlighters. I think ur best bet is to find a highlighter w/base color close enough to your skintone so application just adds the slight shimmer. You should also be highlighting your inner corners of your eye as well as the inner third of your bottom lid, which should help to brighten the area and combat the eyelash shadow.

Match your foundation with your chest. If you match it with your neck, odds are you're going to go too dark and your face will heavily contrast with your chest which is a terrible look. If you have to you can bring the foundation down to your neck.

any of you seagulls have tips on simple makeup for someone who's looking to cosplay a young child character? I'm doing Momoe Nagisa from Madoka Magica:Rebellion-- who is estimated to be around 10-12 years old-- and I'm not sure what direction to take with my makeup.
I already look quite young and childish for my age (see pic related? yeah. I'm 20, not 14.), but I'm not very knowledgeable about makeup, but I know that my usual default makeup tends to make me look older, not younger.

Ok, so I bought this because I'm a sucker for cute packaging. Fuck, I would buy the entire two faced line just based on their packaging. (I'm a graphic designer, I appreciate these things)

However, I really really regret it. Completely.
The colors are not opaque at ALL and barely show up. They don't really blend, they kind just… brush off?
Would it help to get one of these eyelid primers? when it would make the colors stay on a bit better?

I have this palette at home and its freaking incredible! I don't use a sponge applicator (its pretty unsanitary). Just simple eye shadow brushes should be just fine.

Either use concealer or eye primer on your eye as a base, and then a base shadow (to help the other colors blend instead of just sticking right on the primer).

I own both palettes and I adore this line.

for young characters less is always more, of course for makeup less means going for that natural look rather than actually using fewer products. A heavy duty primer, setting spray, and good neutral coloured basics will be your main players.

I don't know the character so this will be very basic. Do your regular base makeup- foundation or bb cream. Tight line your eyes rather than a cateye or anything similar. (People often use such heavy eyeliner for kid anime characters and really it just looks so off!). Use very neutral lip and cheek colours, more if you're just doing photos, less if you're going around in person. A light coloured cheek/lip stain may work for you. Do your eyebrows to match your wig via whatever method you like. Try not to make them too painted on looking if you can though. Finally mascara, neutral eyeshadows (more to conture your eye than to add colour, you can easily skip this if you'd like), and set.

since this is a Madoka character maybe think about using brown false lashes, eyeliner, and mascara. This may not photograph well though so check to see if you like the look before you show it. I just think it'd be neat to mimick the anime's colouring style.

Not even kidding, wet n wild fergie primer. Crazy lasting power, no creasing, strangely incredible. But tbh the it doesnt do anything spectacular in terms of color payoff. first off, try an AHA, as it'll help slough off the dead skin cells that clog up your pores. Try a lower concentration like 5%. Paula's choice offers samples.

Use moisturizers that are appropriate for your skin type. Avoid silicones if your skin is very dry.

I've been using Estee Lauder's Resilience Lift extreme cream compact and it's wonderful. A little shiny/dewy but that can be remedied with a good setting powder. This stuff works wonders on my horribly dry, uneven skintone. it won't cover enlarged pores but it does make them less noticeable. If you're in the USA/Canada and have access to Sephora, I recommend starting there - the makeup artists working there can help you find something that will work well for your skin. If Sephora products are out of your price range, you may be able to find a cheaper dupe if you do some detective work online. Doe Deere is a shit cunt for how she handles criticism but Laura Mercier ridiculed American women for how they wear make up and I never see people boycotting that through it. That revlon bloke is a racist even.
There are other indie companies with shady hygiene and accusations of repackaging pigment so get the sand out of your vagina and understand that either you pretty much have to boycott every company or be a hypocrite if lime crime is your sticking point on problems that were rife like 5 years ago.

Do American women wear that level of eyeshadow plus a full face on a regular basis? When I'm back home from uni I feel too made up walking around my town in lipstick and winged eyeliner. I can't imagine having power brows with a sunburst on my eyes and false eyelashes and highlighter and contour with some purple lips thrown in for good measure.

Depends on the person, but I definitely do see it. Back in HS I found that a LOT of girls were like this, but now that I'm in uni the number has dropped... But the girls who still do it have 10x more extreme makeup. I'm an American and I wear makeup everyday I go out but it's just BB cream to cover acne scars and mascara. Powder if the BB cream makes my face look a little shiny.

shouldn't it be the other way around? in my uni a lot of people go all out with makeup while in college nobody wore any. What's surprising is that I live in a Slav country and even here the makeup is more toned down than the crazy eyebrows trend in the US.

Tbh I'm a big fan of filling in eyebrows to make them look stronger, but pointy, ugly messes are gross. Almost all of 'eyebrow game strong' should come from the maintenance of your brows, and then a little should come from applying brow powder, gel and concealer under them. But chola brows are gross.

Though, to be honest, all the white people I've seen with those sorts of brows have very light brow hair naturally. I'm a beauty therapist so I am just like 'shhhh let me dye your eyebrows baby' constantly, even though I won't say it aloud.

I don't know, maybe it's just taste. I personally prefer natural eyebrows, no matter how light. Plus I have dark hair and eyes and soft natural brows, as soon as I fill them in I look like a paki.

I think in Europe and in America, the term "Uni" is slightly different. In America, "Universities" or "Unis" tend to be smaller, private institutions that cost more and have higher standards for acceptance. (USUALLY, I know of some shitty unis)
Then colleges tend to be state schools, local community colleges, etc. Usually just for anyone who can pay for classes. (Once again, not always. There's always exceptions.) I used to take classes at my local college during HS, and a lot of the students still has a HS attitude, which included wearing a shit ton of weird makeup.

Try not wearing eyeliner on the top of your lid, even if you're doing a cat eye, you can elongate your eye more if you only connect your wing over the top of your lash line slightly.

You could create a higher crease with a matte brown shade 1-2 shades lighter, and then use a light skin tone shade with a satin texture on your lid. White liner on the inner rim, satin white on the inner corner. Not too much mascara on the bottom of your eye.

They even out the tone of your lids, help the color stand out more (and if that doesnt help enough you can blend a light layer of NYX's eye pencil in milk or another white eye base and that will make them show up), helps with blending, and it helps prevent creasing throughout the day. Just the other day her fucking IG was exploding with angry customers who paid months ago and still never got their shit. It wasn't even just one or two. There are constantly customers leaving comments on both her Instagram and the LC in order to get a hold of her and she never responds, sometimes even deletes the shit. She got pulled from Sephora earlier this year when her stuff was only there for a week because of the uproar of customer complaints they received, plus she was still skulking about and making sockpuppets to review her products on the Sephora website. She screwed over vendors of hers by just flat out telling them that she wasn't able to give them product because she ran out due to her own shit planning as a business owner. She's always understocked, behind on orders, the site crashes every other week, and all of the money given to her is waved around in her customer's faces with the designer costumes and shit she buys for her ugly, tacky house she's barely affording. There are brands like the aforementioned, NYX, Manic Panic, Indie ones on Etsy and worse case scenario look into a Korean or Japanese brand for bright, ridiculous colors which don't flatter anyone's skin tone.

I'm Asian with a sort of medium to light skin tone and I find eyeshadows in the purples/reds/gold spectrum flattering on me. Then again, those are pretty much universally flattering colours.
When I first started, I blind bought a bunch of (cheap) eyeshadow palettes and samples to try them on. I think you should also go to makeup counters and swatch them on yourself, since you have to take into account your skin's undertones etc etc. I don't know much about lips, since I tend to leave it nude or with a little bit of natural looking gloss.
One mistake I made when I started out was to look at makeup swatches on a pasty-white girl (i.e. the Concrete Minerals stock photos), fall in love with a colour that turns out to be absolute terrible on my skin tone, so I definitely would suggest you to swatch them on yourself.

Hey guys- I'm looking for a good exfoliating routine. Right now I wash my face and moisturize, with a bit of extra care when I have acne. I want a more complete routine have really stubborn blackheads (they are small, but they bother ME). I've been looking around and these exfoliating teardrop shaped sponges seem pretty popular. Recommendations? Is it a scam?

If so, any good exfoliating scrubs I can find online or in a store for less that 20$? (I'm also getting some facial masks, but I'm on a budget)

I'll look into BHA lotions. :) They look a little extreme, though, will they be safe to use on mildly sensitive skin? And do you have any suggestions on which works best? Paula's Choice seems to be the most popular.

I decided late last year that alongside running, I'd start going to the pool - and have been doing so 3-4 times a week now since last November. Whilst it's been doing wonders on my general stamina and fitness, it's not done wonders for my skin- my face has just gotten really dry and flaky- my hands aren't much better either- they used to be really soft, now they just feel dry.

Britfag here, so I do apologise if peeps don't recongise the brands, I normally use Liz Earle facial exfoliator once a day which kept it beautifully soft alongside a basic lush moisturiser (once a day). Products wise, I used them mainly as I got the moisturiser for christmas and just continued to use it, and my Mum uses Liz- so gets a HUGE order in every Christmas- which then winds up in everyone's stockings. However, I have no clue how good these are in general- has anyone got any tips for general skin flakiness?

Thank you in advance!

The chlorine in pool water dries out your hair and skin. Make sure you rinse well both before and after you swim. Google tells me there are pre- and post-swim lotions meant to protect neutralize chlorine and moisturize skin, and that coconut oil works too. Anyway it sounds like a good idea to apply a hydrophobic/oily layer on your skin and hair before swimming to keep out pool water and keep in your body's own moisture. Just using an exfoliator and basic moisturizer afterwards probably does help but it might not be enough to counteract the drying effect of pool water.

Those are sebaceous filaments, not blackheads. Gentle exfoliation with AHA's + BHA's or oil cleansing is your best option.

These cannot be permanently removed, they're dirt building up and mixing with sebum within your pores, you can only frequently cleanse and exfoliate to minimise the appearance. Blackheads are actually extractable one by one and are generally less common on younger skin (you'll only ever see a nose covered in blackheads on like old mechanics and shit)

This is actually a pretty good guide that might help you out. You'll want to try and determine what would be the best shape for you and plot it out with a pencil (which will be in that tutorial). Using the right products, even tiny brows can be made to look lush and shapely. I'd recommend investing in some Anastasia Beverly hills products because they pretty much have everything you'd want or need (heaps of shades, lots of pencil types, pomade for your brows, powder if you prefer etc)

The old /cgl/ makeup doc had good basic advice with a bunch of resources and infographs to help beginners. However, you can only find the working Google Doc on 8ch /beauty/, after the people that mostly started and maintained these threads skedaddled after the dramu here. I highly recommend seeking it out since it outlines things pretty well, and has a list of Youtubers (Wayne Goss, Lisa Eldridge, etc) that are great for more tutorials and tips.

Makeupalley is a great for reviews, and getting an general consensus on a product before purchasing. It's best to start out with drugstore/low end makeup as mentioned in the doc if you're -completely- new to makeup.

I think it's best to start out with basic, everyday looks then jump into lolita makeup once you learn your ropes. It's also good practice if you intend on wearing it often.

Nude eyeshadows are p much essential since they're so versatile.
