I don't really have masculine features other than my facial structure, which can be softened with makeup and contouring. You could probably do a character that wears a costume that covers a lot of their body, since that would cover up your broad shoulders and stuff with the proper fitting.

I stumbled across this outfit on J-List this morning and I've been toying with the idea of buying it all day. There are some things I'm wondering about it, though.

For one, how big is a 5L size outfit? I'm pretty tall 6'3" and not fat, but my shoulders and chest are both stocky. Would I be able to fit into it? And, if I could, would the hem still end at mid-thigh like in the picture?

Hey /cgl/, I want to crossdress this carnival - where I'm from anything is acceptable from Halloween costumes over plain silly cloths to normal attire.
It will be my fist time, but I have some female friends to help me and a male friend to join me.
I'm 23, 180cm (~5'11), very slender (to the point of having problems with finding a belt that stays on my waist) but have quite a lot of body hair, especially my eyebrows.
I don't really want people at my workplace to find out, so removal of body hair is fine as long as it's winter, but for my brows I'll run into trouble.

Pic related, makeup by one of my friends, and I think it's too much, I don't really want to go for drag queen.
Eyebrows with glue stick method, also my natural hair but I want to byuy a wig (I only just started checking the threads here).
What would be an easy outfit to pass in? Any other suggestions (except don't do it)?

>> No.8028090

>>8028071
That lipstick does not match your coloring at all, you need to find makeup that suits you (in this case I'd probably go for less peach, more pink and a little lighter in color for lipstick). If the wig you choose isn't your hair color you will need to find makeup that suits you wearing the wig, not normal you. The foundation is definitely too thick, I can see it clumping up around your eye area and making your face look wrinkly and weird in spots (beyond normal amount of face wrinkling, obviously). Check out female body language and try to emulate it while cross-dressing.

The clumping around the eye might be from the glue stick, but I'll keep it in mind, thanks.
I'm not sue how to pick a matching color, but I guess that's why I have the girls.

>>8028109
Might be because of the wrinkles, the unnatural eye brows (remember, glue stick) or just because I'm fucking pale.
I've never been to a solarium, maybe I should get some artificial tan there?
I guess I'd need to look for matching colors after that, as >>8028090 suggested...

Avoid j-list, it's pretty ridiculous how the get cheap stuff and then overprice it tenfold just to sell "domestically". Go with something from bodyline if you must. Picture related (I'm a boy of course), bodyline has a solid choice of both seifukus and "maid outfits", however shit their design is in general.

In general, go for two-piece only. Onepiece have weird sizes and lengths, it's unpredictable if it's not custom-fit for your size.

Size-wise, I've noticed after several failures, that it differs greatly between uniforms, even though they should have a "fixed" size for all items. 2L appeared once as european M (but lacked a bit in length), once as european S and once as eur L. Most of the times, while oscilating around euro M, I pick 2L-4L to be safe, and typically once every 5 uniforms one comes undersized by half. Avoid "Male"-labeled sizes like the plague - they usually just do the same length, but add some ridiculous "belly" size for waist and hip, so the whole thing looks disfugured as fuck. It's like it's created for hambeast-type ojisans not some relatively fit/thin guys.

You're in luck that thicker eyebrows for women have been in fashion for a while and are likely to stay popular for quite some time. Bearing this in mind, you can get away with thinning and shaping them only slightly so it won't look too odd or out of place whilst in 'man mode'.

Something like pic related (bottom section) would be perfect for you I think. Remember that this girl has actually grown out her brows to this shape - it's a desirable look for a lot of women right now.

I think your make up as a male is too feminine. Maybe some nude/skintone lipstick/color, less heavy eyeliner (just subtle), and maybe less conturing around the nose? You can actually shave them and it will make them grow back just as thickly as before without plucking, as plucking can damage the follicle root.

A good outfit to 'pass' in is something that is fit and flare, and you'll probably need heels (even short ones) to correct your posture and stick out your butt a little more.

You don't want to have bare arms, so look into long sleeves that are loose fitting, and just try to stay away from ugly clothes in general. You will also have to pad yourself out if you want to pass. This includes your hips and ass, so you'll need to cut out foam and shape it, then shove it down a pair of pantyhoes. Silhouette is important in manly vs lady-like, and you'll even hear girls hear complain of their body shapes because they are undesirable. Aka, try to look 'hourglass'. May also involve a waist cincher.

>> No.8031902

Anyone have a good suggestion for a waist cincher or shapewear that will help bring in the ribcage a bit? I'm definitely skinny enough (5'6" 120lb) but the bottom of my ribs stick out a little bit and that ends up making dresses sit weirdly around my waist/ribcage.

You post a picture here. Wear clothing that doesn't hide your silhouette too much.
There are always things you can do. If your hips aren't wide enough, choose a cosplay with a skirt and petticoat. If your waist isn't curvy enough, wear a corset. You can stuff for tits, but try not to go overboard. Don't make them a surprising something that someone would want to ogle. Keep it natural.
There are tricks to what you wear, too. Avoid puff sleeves like the plague. Heels will make your legs look slimmer, the height is usually worth it. See here >>8028244 etc etc

I really want to do a Japanese school girl outfit, and know places that will do custom sizes.
My bust hip waist is B:39.5 W:31 H:38, but a corset might slim my waist down a bit. The things I'm most worried about are that my shoulders are kinda wide and my arms kinda big from working out n stuff. How do other guys deal with upper body issues?

For hands, I use longer sleeves, that go over half of my hand - not sure if that's "cannon", but it does it for me, as my hands look much smaller on pictures. I tried black, silky gloves once as well, but it created an entirely different set of issues and generally backfired (it needs to be fitting into the character setup, otherwise it's looking off-putting and out of place).

For legs - use black or dark overknees or covering stockings, heels that soften sharp shapes of male feet (for a schoolgirl look you can find a lot of different loafers that are rounded and girly - or go with s..sneakers).

No idea for broad shoulders.

Saw your makeup video for your Rize cosplay, I thought the wig and falsies really made it come together because of how it framed your face.

Re: your Q&A video, at 7:20, hooly shit plenty of my friends have just gone up to me at some point and touched my chest like that while in crossplay. Damn rude, not to mention embarrassing if done in public.

But let's talk important things, what do you do about your hands? Is there a trick you know of that can keep them from looking too masculine in shots? Many poses require ones hands to be visible, so it can be a complete givaway. For now, I just use gloves like in >>8028135.

Trimmed it a little bit further as suggested, however I'm starting to get worried about looking unusual as my normal self, so I'll keep it at that for now - maybe I'll go a bit thinner when I actually wear it, you know, let people get used to it little by little, also gives me the excuse of a costume party.

Didn't expect hearing that about my lashes would make me this happy (haha), definitely looking into this further.

Looked up lots of triangles and general cross dressing clothing, will influence the choice of costume for the occasion, but ultimately I'll have to go with what I can find.

As a general update, our group has decided on colorful wigs, so I ordered a Luka cosplay wig and hope I didn't step on any land mines. If it turns out too bad I can still go to my local sex shop and get a backup wig.

I'm not sure if a corset will be worth it, I am pretty slender already, but I'm aware male midriffs play a big part in silhouette...

Any opinions guys?

I'd love to try to pull off a good crossplay, and would go all the way if you guys think I could pass for a girl. It's ok if I look unattractive / not cute, as long as it's not so bad that it goes into the negative and I'm really ugly (hurts or annoying to look at).

Any tips/advice for me for crossdressing in general? I'm 6 feet. I didn't use any makeup, I'm guessing making my eyelashes darker and thicker would really help.

There were a lot of things I could have done better in this picture (hair wasn't cut that well and in wrong position, costume was being worn loosely, pose didn't turn out as intended, etc.), and my legs are also off the picture (but decently slim and not bulky or angular, also bow legged).

But aside from that, and from reading around, the following things should help?
1) Cover my eyebrows with hair (100% necessary or not? Would eyebrow styling or partially showing be better?)
2) Hair on the sides should have covered my big/wide head.
3) Can hide my chin a bit with the big scarf.

Thanks very much in advance.

Little tip -- don't shave your eyebrows at all. Unless that's what you really want to do. You'll most likely end up regretting it since it would just be for a cosplay.
Just do the covering method for the parts you initially want to shave (glue, concealer, etc. There's loads of tutorials on youtube) and then you can draw the parts on that you want without having to sacrifice your real brows!

Don't shave your brows! They look pretty damn nice as they are. Also you can now get eyebrow mascaras (some of the Korean and Japanese brands are particularly good) that will temporarily lighten their appearance with pretty decent results. I personally wouldn't bother with all the sticking and covering tutorials.

It's great that you've started experimenting with make-up, considering you're so new it's not a bad attempt (I think many people forget what their make-up applying skills were like in the very beginning). It does look quite 'beginner' like at this stage however, your eyeliner is a bit blobby and your lip-line doesn't quite follow the contour of your lips and isn't very neat. Practice makes perfect of course and you've made a good start, but I also think there's a lot of room for improvement. It's cool though, it's all a learning process.

I would suggest using a softer pencil eyeliner or possibly using eyeshadow with a damp brush to avoid hash looking lines. On the whole, softer makeup (even in cosplay) will create a more feminine look. Learn to soften and blend your eyeliner a little better and you'll be well on your way.

Have a sissy/maid dress custom made for you. Get measured professionally, and give a little more at the waist. The cost is high, but the tailoring is worth it. A good fitting dress will look great no matter what the material is made from.

I see. If anything, I find that if your hands are going to be in the shot, then to adjust them such that the side is perpendicular to the shot so that it won't look as large. Another anon, I think Neet, also recommended to raise one's arms shortly before the shot so that the blood flows out of the veins, keeping them from showing in the shots.
>>8045924
If you have a large budget, I would recommend Milky Ange. I got my uniform from them and the quality is top-notch, not to mention they're quite helpful in determining your size. Alternatively, you can try Candyfruit as I hear that brand is also good but I don't have firsthand experience.

You may want to head over to somewhere like Sephora where someone can help you choose foundation appropriate for your skin tone. Aside from that, I recommend eye makeup (liner, shadow, mascara, false eyelashes why not) and shadow/highlighting countouring pencil. As for glasses, if you need them, I don't think it's bad if they show in the shot. A photographer shouldn't be using flash anyway if you're concerned about light reflecting off the lens.
>>8057762
Drop the lipstick, don't line your entire eye with eyeliner, and use a brush to soften hard edges.

I second this. Just thought I'd put this suggestion out there. I know with crossdressing it's often suggested to go for skirts and dresses that nip in at the waist then flair out, as well as pad the hips etc where necessary, but I don't think this should be a steadfast rule. If you're not cosplaying a specific character and you just want to go for something comfortable yet feminine without all the padding prep and whatnot then 'laganlooks' and strega type fashion may be an option. It's not for everyone but the multiple layers are very forgiving and can be flattering. Just make sure not to go for anything too top heavy in terms of fabric, keeping the bulk of the layering to the lower half of the body. The advice for avoiding puff sleeves, square necklines etc still applies.

A fantastic added bonus of this style is you can wear super comfy flat or low heel boots with these looks and they'll look great whilst being comfy. If you wear a euro 42 or less you should have no problem at all finding women's shoes in your size.

mannerisms are def extremely important, in all honestly sometimes I can immediately tell someone is crossdressing when viewing them from behind, not because of their body shape, but because of the way they are walking. The stereotypical 'manly' walk often involves putting a lot more weight on the feet, which gives the walk a sorta 'stompy' appearance. Definitely look into changing your walk/mannerisms. Some people seem to naturally have more of a neutral/androgynous walk and these people don't need to worry so much.

well, that's like, just your opinion man. Seriously though, I did say it 'wasn't for everyone' but some people find the look very attractive and appealing, so it goes. The simple outfit in the middle strikes me as the least 'out there' of the bunch. In my opinion, the best way to make the style work is with really pretty hair and make-up, this brings the whole look together and makes it less 'just crawled out of a dumpster' and more ethereal.

well, considering it's a style I've seen recommended for (and pulled off well by) inverted triangle (ie the natural shape of most men) shape women and larger body frames, I don't think it's necessarily a terrible idea and worth consideration. It needn't be a frumpy look and can be scaled back/toned down. Mori girl style, another 'layering' look, tends to be even more feminine looking.

Mori girl often gets called 'petite girl fashion' sure, but not regular European lagenlook style.

ok, now that's just crap. You can be a 'V' simply because of your unusually disproportionate bust to hip ratio sure and you do see 'huuge boob's V types, but 'often' or 'predominately' would be a stretch. I'm a small-chested inverted triangle for starters and there are plenty of us about. If anything, larger breasts with an inverted triangle shape makes you look even less in proportion/emphasizes the relative lack of hips. Anyway, cross dressers can adjust boobage accordingly, it's not so easy/commonplace for women to do the same outside of cosplay.

You could do a 'huge boob inverted triangle' counter collage or whatever if you were so inclined but the point is, smaller breasts + 'V' shape is hardly uncommon.

Not sure if kinda trolling (but I'm debating on 4chan so I've lost either way).

not quite sure what other anons are seeing here, what i see is a poor quality picture of an attractive person, I think you have great bone structure although tbh I do think you look more androgynous than feminine.

Try to take pictures in better light if you can (natural light from a window or outdoors is best). It's very difficult to see what needs working on as it is.

Based on your pic alone, if you want to create a more obviously feminine look, fill in your eyebrows inwards a little more, add a heavier eyeline on your upper eyelid and create fuller looking/use false lashes. Also consider circle lenses as your irises are quite small. Finally, shade-contour your jawline in the areas I've indicated. It's shitty ms paint, but hopefully you get the idea.

easily pass, yup but the funny thing is, you look more feminine/androgynous without the makeup tbh. You really don't need such heavy make-up, something along the lines of pic related would be good I reckon. You could probably trim your eyebrows a little too, in the 'korean' style so it doesn't look too odd when you want to be more boyish/manly.

Also get a feminine looking wig. Something that just sits on the shoulders would be good although I think you could pull of a shorter bob/curly bob type cut.

Not a fan of the ginormous hipster glasses but you do pull them off, consider slightly more rounded, smaller, girlish frames.

start shaving your legs a few days, maybe even a week or two, before the convention. bot sure how much leg hair you have, but there's more irritation if its longer so it helps to start early to avoid it. like >>8081545 said, depilating is good for not leaving a dark cast but it is a bit painful if you aren't used to it.

Exfoliate before you shave. It'll remove most of the dead skin cells and make shaving easier. You can buy products or use baking soda with warm water for a paste.

Keep your razor sharp and clean using hot water in between strokes. Make your strokes short and sweet - you don't want to clog up the blades with hair (if you do happen to let your leg hair grow out, trim them down with an electric shaver before going for a close shave). I suggest getting an after shave/hair removal product. It may sting and smell like men's after shaving products, but I like using this product called "The Cool Fix" - you can find it at Ulta and you don't need to use much of it, so a little goes a long way.

If you're lucky to live near one, I suggest popping by The Art of Shaving for some more advice. Personally, I prefer getting waxed on those areas since it lasts longer than shaving and especially if you have dark and course hair like me.

Trans man here. Take into consideration that you're slender with wide-ish hips, sometimes you need to improvise a little. I had a similar problem with binders, I wasn't buying them small enough to give me a flat chest, and I wasn't doing anything to make up for a very femme hip/waist ratio. You can try tightening the binder just a little by using a sewing machine to take in a small amount on the back, just be very careful. Use a strong stitch. I'd also advice finding ways to pad your sides, to give the illusion that your hips and trunk have a straighter line to them. I hope that helps somewhat.

>> No.8092979

>>8092970

Well, there are a few ways to do it. I'd suggest sewing yourself some small pillow-shaped pads that run the length of your waist, with most of the stuffing in the center. If you have a long enough binder, you can arrange them under it. If not, take a tight fitting shirt (work out shirts, snug fitting tanks, or even one of those shape-wear pieces that are meant to smooth your stomach) and do the same. It's a bit tricky to get it right, but trust me.

As for crossplay, it'll get easier once you find what builds your confidence in it. I was always told early on to be grateful that the big chest/smaller waist/big hips issue is one that you fix by adding and smoothing the shape. There are plenty of cross dressers and trans men who have to worry more about finding ways to pull fat in than finding something to even curves out, it just takes some experimenting to find what works best for you. I know someone who uses small hand towels to do the same thing, but I'm not sure that's a good idea. It seems to me like it would cause sweating, and hold a smell to it.

>> No.8092988

>>8092979
Yeah my binder is pretty long, like a shirt long

The make up under the eye is so awful, it just.... ehh gross. The pose is awkward, if you're cosplaying a guy (and you're female) try not to bring attention to your hands in photos.

Might want to tell Siniristiotakut (Or whoever the cosplayer is) to invest in a higher quality outfit and perhaps a wig as he looks like he is balding.

That Haruka though, I want one

If you're just experimenting before investing in breast forms, perhaps try the 'uncooked rice inside stockings' method, obviously they don't feel natural but they do look and sit right as long as you don't over-fill. Plenty of info out there about how best to do it.

How is his face? Does he even post pics without it covered?

Sure his body is nice and all, but it kinda follows the "guise look at my feminine legs heuehehue" trope for me.

Face is more important trap wise over body imo, you can go out out in public and trap people with a nice face, but if even if your body is feminine, if you have a man face its game over

Of course, having both is ideal. I'm not trying to be a fatty lover or anything

First time cosplaying, the costume is a bit of a shambles atm but i'm working on that (still missing bits and pieces and the wig is a bit of an unruly monstrosity) - but what i'd like an opinion on is how I can work on my makeup to look more feminine - I think I need to do something more around the eye area and practice contouring.

Has anyone met/is trans/crossdresser that wasn't/isn't kinda crazy and not in the fun way?

He is nemunemunnn on Twitter. The images are kind of lewd so I'm not surprised he decides to hide his face.
>>8104359
Well, I can say I'm not crazy, but other crossplayers I've met irl all seem to be normally functioning, healthy human beings as well. They're chill for the most part, may have a quirk or two but that doesn't necessarily mean a bad thing, it just makes them more interesting.
