Can I see some really good bodyline coords? Since noobs are often pointed towards bodyline, what would you consider a really good coord with mostly bodyline and offbrand items?

The things that make a great co-ord pretty much stay the same, regardless of the brand - if the cut is decent, the material quality is acceptable with an attractive design, then you can make a nice outfit with it. As far as making a nice outfit with a nice/decent dress goes, it usually comes down to attention to detail (no sloppy styling or being half-assed) and being able to match pattern and color. Another tip is, if the dress is slightly cheap/mid-range looking, go for smart, sophisticated looking accessories for a more polished look - BL dress in pic very related.

Bought items in pic related for a grand total of $51 with free shipping, I'm really happy with everything. Only thing that wasn't great was having to pay $22 in customs fees but that's no fault of bodyline, just one of the downsides of shopping for lolita stuff if you live in the UK.

shoes198 are basic but comfy and are great for running errands etc, when you're not necessarily getting dressed up for photos etc. They're nice for otome and non-lolita stuff too.

shoes267 are very dollyish and cute and very comfy, they seem to run slightly large however - I'm usually 24.5 and they're a touch big. If you're between sizes it might be worth getting the size down.

dress l310 (in size M) is damn nice for the price, the white side bows look awkward and cheap and the cameo in the center of the bow brooch is a bit tacky but other than that, the quality is pretty great. I wasn't sure at first when I saw it looking sad and crumpled in its bag but really, I couldn't be happier and it fits great. The waist is quite roomy without being super baggy (the separate waist tie to pull it in to the desired fit is a nice touch) but I would say that if your bust is larger than 86cm (which is what I am) it may start to look slightly tight and less than perfect. If your bust is over 88cm it's gonna look kinda crushed and be very tight.

/cgl/ has been on this kick of "If you can't throw x color into a print where this is none, you're boring". Same if you don't pile on the head bows and jewelry, it's considered boring.

I don't know, I'm all for people who can make all sorts of out there things work, but I find nothing wrong with basic matching coords that stick to the basic palette of a dress.

As an americunt AND someone who regularly vistis the farmers market, but you really have to be careful what you buy at them or you end up spending a decent amount more than you would eating bruised imported shit from the grocery.

Personally I've turned to shopping at my local Giant, they get what they can from local sources, they have lots of organic options, and they can keep their prices low because they're a big nationwide company. Plus they have gas rewards, so if I spend $100 in a month I get $0.20 off per gallon of gas for a purchase.

The problem is that people don't know that there are options to be had right under their noses, or they're like my boyfriend's mom and assume anything from a big name grocery store must be evil so they spend $12 on a bag of all natural organic sugar.

I'm also lucky enough to live around a lot ot Mennonite and Amish communities who have general stores and sell a lot of their extra grown foods really cheap when it's in season, too. $2 for a dozen ears of sweet corn picked that morning.

>> No.7993991

>>7993908
yeah, I live in the US too, and the farmer's market sucks. A lot of people reselling non organics for the same or more than I can get at the big box grocery stores.

Honestly, it's better to go to the flea market across town, buy the cheap stuff the mexicans are selling (which is the same as the shit I can get at a regular grocery store), or go to the asian market for my produce. It might not be perfect and organic but it is cheap.

Maybe it has to do with the fact that the only farmer's markets in my town are in the more affluent areas, so people can get away selling overpriced conventional produce to white people who don't know any better.

Does anyone have a mainly pieces from bodyline wardrobe? Might I ask... And why do you chose it? I just think it's so damned easy to order from, with free shipping and being so cheap..like the l188 I got in the sale just past- the tights I wore with it cost more! get nothing but compliments on it. I dipped my toes in brand, got murdered on shipping and particularly custom fee's as I live in europe and we get hit for so little. The same with taobao, I got stuff in the victory day sales that were cheap as chips but shopping service and shipping fees matched the price of the items at the end of the day. Also I don't think I want 1 brand dress when I could get 6 on bodyline as my wardrobe isn't that big and I like plain pieces anyway that I could wear on the street without much fuss. A lot of the brand stuff is too fancy for me, I need semi practical ruffly dresses as I have pets that jump up with mucky paws and leave fur on me, and I need to be able to wash clothes regularly! I also prefer simpler items that I can wear every day but still prefer to go for brand, IW in particular. They make a lot of beautiful but more casual pieces, although unfortunately they are more expensive and like you said, customs is a bitch.

The main reason I don't buy much Bodyline is because I don't really like any of their designs. IMO they have like two skirts that look decent (one of which is a replica), one or two nice OPs (one of which is a replica), one or two nice JSKs and only one decent blouse. I own one of those skirts and the blouse and while they're decent for everyday wear, they're clearly kind of cheap. All the dresses I've seen on other girls tend to look a bit cheap, too. There's always something slightly off about the cut, the materials, the details or the print. It's H&M quality, basically, which is exactly what I was running away from when I found lolita.
They're my go-to place for shoes, though! Their shoes are definitely good for the price.

IW is where I got crucified with customs fee's they were around 300 euro's for the larger spring oddment pack! I know I would pay the same for an outfit as I did the items themselves, still it was a shocking amount to pay and put me off ordering from brand websites personally and I felt it negated the point of having a special overseas only trial of their items. Yes, Bodyline are the h&m/primark of lolita! And quite popular too, given the regularity with which a bodyline thread pops up in this forum. I don't see the same for brands which is strange. It's nice for someone with a mortgage, and a car to run with limited funds to be a little decadent with. The block colour dresses I own are sewn quite okay, no complaints. I've only bought one blouse and it felt papery. I am too old for the cutsey prints so cannot comment on those. Oh, the shoes look so pretty although I can't wear bodyline shoes if I need to walk in them any distance!
I need well put together shoes for my bad back, I go for clarks or hush puppies, duo had some lovely edwardian boots a few years back that I super stocked up on, am delighted to be able to wear with my lolita clothes.

No, you can just show like the shipping cost payment or something, usually the SS will charge for the item and then shipping, you can probably also ask for them to invoice you separately as the "value" so you can fake it. Hey, I have a noob question. Two weeks ago, I was sure I placed my order to bodyline. I understand that it should be a bit of a wait for an email notificiation, but no sign of it yet, not even from paypal. I even checked my credit card statement and there's no sign of payment towards paypal or anything related to my purchase.

Did it go through or not? DO I have to order again?

I think the fetish thing is more of a problem outside of japan, where people genuinely don't see seifuku as actual clothing and more as a porny costume. Most don't realise how popular sailor collars were in vintage fashion (though that now has a sexual element to it..) and children's clothing. I know some people who seem to think anyone wearing seifuku is asking for it or they are a pornstar (totally ignoring the fact millions of schoolgirls are then sexualized whether they like it or not) I'm glad the uniform didn't get scrapped though. It'd fucking suck if we had to get rid of nurse uniforms or nun habits because of other people's perversion. I'm no prude but why should I not be able to wear something perfectly modest because someone else made it a 'dirty' thing?

But screw it, seifuku is cute as fuck. I love looking at old photos of kids in sailor uniform too. Thinking of getting one of the pastel BL ones but fear backlash from parents because of aforementioned concerns.

Did anyone else buy the cat piano dress? I resisted the urge to get yet another sweet print in black and went for pink. Fingers crossed for sizing.

i got my bodyline package with 2 pairs of bloomers, a blouse, and a maid dress because why not. and oh my lord, the color looks /NOTHING/ like it does in the photos. look at this nasty pink. this is suppose to look like costume655.
another thing about this is that it runs super big, this is a m, in the picture it might look normal but when i put the dress on the waist was huge. and its not me, i have many other bodyline pieces in m that fit fine.
but other the color and size issue, the quality is pretty good, thick and pretty cozy. it came with a detachable bow not pictured. its mainly the color that makes me so sad. its so gross salmon looking!
