So celestial is being made to order

Can anyone tell me what the "dress one piece" is? Is it the one with the bib? Does that mean they're not releasing this version?

That's cause people are making ugly head pieces lol. Something a little more simple or even something that looks cohesive would be awesome. Slap some holly onto a headband and arrange it nicely, don't just glob mini presents into a headband and expect it to look anything other than tacky.

I'll post some burando, I guess. Keeps your perspective when you realise that even btssb, purveyor of chain headdresses that cost as much as a jsk, keeps it simple when it comes to Christmas headwear

This one goes with the kuma xmas print, and looks like a regular headbow.

Get the VM and MM dresses.

When you are torn like this always get the dress that will be harder to find again. You can track down the more common dress at a later date when you have money again.

AP is doing a made to order meaning that there will be no shortage of them at a reasonable price if you want to buy it later. Think of how hard it is to find Day Dream Carnival or Cosmic second hand.....yeah no they are pretty much everywhere.

Meanwhile tracking down used VM and MM pieces is royal bitch. The girls who tend to buy those brands hang on to their stuff.

Get the VM and MM anons. You won't see that shit again any time soon.

The seller offered free regular shipping on cheap, rare dress.
Buyer wanted express postage to make deadline being christmas (express comes at expense of buyer)
The mail system was delayed at nobody's fault, so the dress was later than usual despite being sent express.
The buyer is sandy because their dress was later than they expected and demands that the seller compensate for this, despite not being the seller's fault.

Need some advice. I have a buyer problem of a different sort. I sold a girl and everything went well. Then, my package got returned. That was three weeks ago. I've been trying to contact the buyer via LJ since that's all I have, but she hasn't been replying.

There's nothing on the box that tells me why it was returned, there's post office tape all over it and another paper with my buyer's name and address.

Any advice? She never filed a paypal claim that I could tell, and the transaction was months ago. At this point I'm really tempted to do a partial refund minus the cost of shipping and some "restock" fee and then reposting the items for sale. Should I get the mods involved or something?

>> No.7991882

Stupid question, in IW's sale, is the 15% discount taken from the price of the item BEFORE tax or AFTER tax? I feel dumb for not knowing, but I'm from a country where sales tax is automatically factored into the price tag on an item of clothing, so I'm not sure.

Refund her minus the shipping. She is lucky you are a honest seller willing to give her a refund.
Not only contact the mods, if she paid with paypal, perhaps it's also good to contact them as well>
I don't see why you should apply a restock fee though, listing your item on LJ is free. I also think that maybe she deserves neutral feedback for this as well.

Previous one was 82k yen but was navy. I guess girls are still paying a premium just to have an "it" print in time for Christmas tea parties, the preorders don't ship until next year after all. So if you have one this year either you were chosen by the lolita gods, or just filthy rich.

Imagine being rich enough that 59k yen is chump change to pay to impress a bunch of frillbutts, though.

Here is my side of the story:
>took 6 business days to ship out my item
>I am a seller as well and I ship out within 1-2 business days so I find 6 business days to be a bit long (not terrible, just not fast)
>if she shipped it out when I paid it would have made it here in time for Christmas in the normal mail, but because it was delayed a week I had to pay extra shipping to make sure it would arrive in time.
>every time I messaged her it took days to get back to me
>I messaged her politely saying I was otherwise happy with the transaction but I found the timeliness and communication to be a bit weak (which are part of feedback ratings)
>she messages me back two, very long, rude, condescending messages and also threatened to leave me negative feedback if I left her less than perfect feedback even though I paid on time and maintained good communication.

Funny how it took her so long to respond to all my other messages but the minute I bring up an issue she replied within the hour, and also had enough time to baw all over 4chan about it.

I usually replace boning with flat steels or if I don't have steels of the right length, better plastic boning. If it's poking through you can probably insert new boning and tack it all back into place. For the bonnet, I would steam it and gently manipulate it back into place before ironing it directly. Start over from scratch. Pick your dress from a shop that's on this list:
http://lolita-tips.tumblr.com/post/31378489567/a-list-of-lolita-taobao-shops

Then, check the taobao thread to make sure they're still okay. Don't buy anything yet.

After that, try to put together a coord collage and post it either to lolita general or the coord help thread. Ask for feedback.

Alternatively, try collageanon on tumblr.

THEN, once you have a look that you like and one that's generally agreed by other people to not look ita, proceed to buy the pieces and wear them.

I mean, I'm a different kind of person personally. Also, I don't know how old you were when you started doing that but for me, I got seriously interested in lolita when I was about 16. Around this time I kinda became more hyper self-aware...I'm super afraid of going out and look like a fucking mess. I'd rather trial and error it by putting coords together on the computer than actually go out and years later get embarassed thinking "I actually WORE that OUTSIDE?". But, that's just me. Maybe if I was in middle school I could look back at them as fond memories. Also, I should note that I'm a fattychan and once again, would rather not risk that embarrassment especially because fat girls in lolita get judged 10x harder for what they wear. I mean, I still bought stuff before putting outfits together too but yeah I never wore anything outside my house.

Besides, I wasn't trying to say she should spend 2-3 years looking at pictures, I was just trying to give her advice how to learn shit in the meantime when she can't always be wearing stuff, know what I'm saying?

Now I know its winter right now in america, so its like perfect lolita season, but what do you girls do about the summer? It gets really hot here (southern USA) and I think it'd be really stifling and awful to wear frills during said time, do you just not wear them or are there actually summer lolita outfits that aren't miserable to wear?

I can put up with it for a special event or purpose, obviously I can cover my skin in baby powder or whatever to keep sweat down, but sometimes I like wearing frills outside just for fun on errands and the like and it just seems like its a lot of work if you're in an unfortunate climate.

Anon who wrote >>7993858 here.

I don't think all newbies need years of research. Some people have the eye for what looks good and what doesn't.

This specific anon, though, doesn't.

I'm also not opposed to it if she wants to buy not-cheap shit off ebay and prance around in it feeling like an ita princess. If she never posts photos then she won't even end up in the ita thread.

However, she posted asking for advice, so I'm giving it. The dress is terrible and she has no fashion sense. I don't think I should sugarcoat my advice, she did ask for it after all.

idk anon, if some fourteen year-old thinks that:

>making up your own collages of imaginary princess outfits without needing to spend a cent
>online shopping looking at bits and pieces of princess clothing
>reaching out to other princess superheroes
>poring over collections of pretty princess dresses
>imaginary planning your own collection of pretty princess dresses

are basically boring activities that give them no joy, then lolita's not really the right hobby for them. I mean, the whole point of lolita is the clothes, not imaginary worlds, superheroes or even princesses.

I really wish there was some way we could draw a distinct line between lolitas who are in it for the clothes, and the ones who are in it for the delusional costume playing aspects. At least it would be easier to direct the latter towards sexy geisha costumes instead of having snowflake itas in our hobby.

I did. It's not about the resale value, though. I'm one of those who couldn't get it during initial release and can't afford scalper prices. I'm pretty much to hoard mine forever and then request it be burned along with me when I die, lol.

I think resale will stay high because of the time of year it released, and because lots of people tried for and may have gotten Sugar Dream Dome or Lucky Keys meantime. Scalper prices until the made-to-order lands, then retail after that. Lucky for those who got it, can wear it through holidays then sell at a premium up until the bigger release lands. Especially if it looks like it won't make it in time for Anime Matsuri even if they did reserve now. Kind of a pickle. As for your other question, about half my closet is repeat prints. I had Mozarabic Chant in 3 colourways, though I sold off two. I still have 5 Cosmic dresses in 2 cuts, 3 colours. I once liked a normal black dress so much I went back and bought 2 more of it, then wore the dresses for 7 years until they all finally began to show too much pilling. Having three dresses distributed the wear and tear across them, and the dress was so perfect I wore it at least once a month (usually more often than that though).

I think, when I fall in love with a print, it tends to be a full blown affair, I'd do things like get the matching accessories or different cuts even if I only liked one colourway. For the ones I like multiple colourways, it's so difficult to decide which one to keep and which one to sell, so I end up keeping them all.

At least it doesn't happen very often. For this year's releases I only fell deeply for Cosmic, CDC, and Celestial. I guess it's more that I obssess deeply over one or two prints, rather than spreading my love over many different prints, does that make sense?

I found Cosmic jsks in-store right after the preorder came out, so I guess there's a slim chance.

If there is some extra stock in other stores, AP will eventually change the "sold out" sign on the dress to the white "order in from other shop" button, and you'll be able to get your relative or someone to buy it then (it needs cash on delivery, which Tenso don't do) instead of having them look in-store, so keep checking back on the site.

You can also try AP USA, they might get the dress in later.

This color is not typical of any of the lolita coloways. Also what you are describing has nothing to do with lolita fashion. It just seems a little foolish to imagine coordinating an expensive Lolita outfit from scratch around one inexpensive, off-brand hair accessory. It's more usual to add accessories once your main Lolita piece is chosen, and compliment the accessories to it, not the other way around. The good Lolita flower crowns I have seen also use higher quality flowers. These look a little cheap, tbh.

Ok by me, can't justify the prices for really fancy OP's when you barely end up wearing them twice in a year. Looking forward to the perfume print, I hope the JSK is nice.

so why does vivienne westwood count as a lolita brand?

I really feel like wigs are holding this fashion behind. It gives people who don't suit the look a way in while also perpetuating the costume appearance. Only very high quality, well styled wigs should ever be used, but everyone just uses shitty cosplay wigs, even lolita models use poor quality wigs (but they can at least pull it off somewhat better)
I really think that wig usage is one of the final hurdles that the fashion has to overcome to reach a level where it can be accepted as a true fashion. Other issues would be less people wearing it as a costume. You know who you are, people dressing only to meets and cons.

It doesnt, people just recognize that Rocking horse shoes are her design.

Okay but those shoes. Are they AP? I need them.

I'm probably taking bait, but
> It gives people who don't suit the look a way in while also perpetuating the costume appearance.
If you're wearing a good wig, no one will be able to tell that you're wearing one. It makes zero difference. If you have short hair, or thin hair, does that automatically make you unsuitable for the fashion? Because that's bullshit and you know it. Wigs are perfectly acceptable in fashion.

I feel the same way. Worn right, a fashion wig won't look fake. Most of the time when I wear wigs with Lolita, people assume it's my real hair unless they know me well enough to know that I love wigs and have a ton of different ones. I wear all natural colors, and choose similar shades that suit my skin type and outfits. It can be done very well.

its sold on 2nd hand lolita websites and listed on lolibrary and its not only the rocking horse shoes its like all their stuff so why does everyone say its a lolita brand

>99% of wigs are terrible
>Fuck lolitas who only wear it to meets and cons

Wow, two trolls in one. We have the natural hair only troll and I remember the comment in the pet peeves thread about lolitas who only wear it for meets and cons (derailing that entire thread I might add).

Stay mad anon, some days my hair drys perfectly, others it doesn't, and wigs are one of the best ways to get a perfect style going. I also think full wigs look better with most lolita head wear as well.

I'm actually at work now, and I just got finished moving a bunch of dusty old computers around. Sorry I don't like the thought of getting my burando dirty during the 40hrs of work I have during the entire week.

> some days my hair drys perfectly, others it doesn't

Fuck, this so hard. My hair looks god damn beautiful some days, and others it looks like I rolled around in a pile of fleece and then rubbed it on the carpet for good measure.

Plus I have a lot of very fine hair, so it doesn't hold any sort of styling unless I turn it into a helmet with hairspray.

>15 years of dance competitions can attest to this

"You're not doing it right," "you're using the wrong products," "you're too lazy," etc. Please talk to my coach and get back to me on that one. Three hours of styling, falls flat before I even get on the floor. There's a reason my entire team always just wore various braids, and that reason is my hair. Wigs are the only way I get anything but slightly wavy shoulder length bob, that sometimes flips out on one side and under on the other.

So many roses, AP why?
Left ones both look like Memorial Cake 2.0, the lavender version is classier while the pink seems sweeter.
The other pink print seems like it's next years horse print with that big rocking horse on it.
The only print that made my curious to see close is the right one, looks very much like a butterfly print.
But I'm also a bit underwhelmed, prints and cuts are same old story. I'd love to have more kitschy prints again but with the classic trend going I know this won't happen, but one can dream.

I'm gaga for the perfume one because it's Imai Kira and Cats, but I don't like the colorway. I really hope it comes in a color that I actually like. Otherwise, at least I saved some money.

It isn't a lolita brand but it is widely recognized that her brand influenced and is popular with lolitas, so stores will sell it as well (also very popular with jpunk/general jfashion).

Lolibrary also lists Jane Marple and ETC, both are otome brands.

Secondhand websites want to make money by selling to lolitas. Lolitas like VW so why not.

fyi, swimmer is not a lolita brand either.
