I'm new to /cgl/ but thought it might be interesting to see if anyone here is a SCAdian

Dumping garb.

Where the hell do people find girdles? I can't believe every one I see is handmade by the owner.

Sca folk reporting in! We usually can be found in the larp threads. Gropey_the_clown and Ontario are also scadians.

East Kingdom for me!

nice. interesting textures you have there.

Pictured: inspiration for my next big project, mid 16th century Florentine gown. Right now I'm just working on the trim with my inkle loom, lots and lots of trim.

Trying to get my boyfriend involved, and he seems most interested in Greek, but very specifically the Thureophoroi and Thorakitai. Anyone got some nice pics of guys in greek or tips etc?
I've been keeping an eye on the LARP threads and the guy making the linothorax, but I think I'd like to start with whats underneath until he commits to it (looks like a T tunic?) and everyday wear (chiton?) Cheers.

Pretty off topic but is rapier fighting much of thing in the East?

It fucking huge here and I don't much care for the men's grab.

extremely popular where I live because they are dead simple to make and very comfortable in hot weather. I rock one on the reg even though my persona is completely unrelated to Greece.

Kingdom of Lochac, Meesteres Willemyne van Nymegen- donged for my nerdy research in Westfallen-Kleves=Koeln research:)

Picture of my laurelling gown, Brunchweig, in the style of Ludger tom Ring.

Both of those options seem really cool but like they wouldn't work well in the SCA.

Not that I have seen. Of course I have been involved for barely a year and our shire is rather small. I know the large baonry nearby has rapier practice but I haven't seen it much represented at events.

This I made a peplos for a friend to wear to a summer event and she was highly envied so comfy.

Really really lovely! The stripes are just amazing. I mostly focus on Florentine but the later English and German gowns keep tempting me.
