/cgl/, how much does a large frame ruin a cosplay?
While I only weight 47kg, my underbust is 30-31 inches for an example for my large bones.
Does that prevent anything on the sexier side from working?

You would be pretty great at cosplaying anyone from Claymore, or Armored girls, i have a similar problem with being tall and wide like a linebacker but i'm not heavy. when i cosplay i play on it and usually cosplay Zena. It works surprisingly well. I think if you pick a character that is strong and sexy, as apposed to sexy like a schoolgirl, your proportions will be a help instead of a hindrance. Old school super heros like wonder women ect had wider proportions in the comics as well.

No such thing as large bones.

If you're 103 pounds with a 30in under bust you can wear whatever the fuck you want. Stop whoring for attention.

>> No.7946494

okay so this is clearly a shitty attention whore thread but the basic premise is good... what are some good cosplays for fit girls that are physically larger (for instance I have massive shoulders from swimming and I know some girls who weight lift who have a lot of muscle bulk)??

>> No.7946500

>>7946379
uhhh 103 lbs and 30in underbust is kinda strange, actually. I'm 97 lbs and my underbust is only 25in. Unless anon is a midget and fat, that's kind of a wide ribcage. It happens. There is such a thing as being "big boned" in a sense, just not in the way that fat girls use it.

That said, OP, it would depend on your other measurements whether you'd look funny or not. If you have a well defined waist and hips to match your top half, you'll look fine.

To all those who think that there's no such thing as big boned. There is such a thing as having a large or small frame. Big boned is just a term that's been misused so much it can't be used anymore without people going LOLKAYFATTY. For example I have a B cup but my chest measurement is 40" with a bra on while my friend with D cups who is tiny measures at 38". Most plus size models you see aren't usually that fat they just have these larger frames/ribcages and hip bones.

Well from your description it sounds like you might just have some body fat that you can easily fix by exercising and with a proper diet if it bothers you. It's not clear whether it's your bone structure that's giving you volume, or your body fat % because you haven't told us if you feel bone and cartilage directly, or whether there is a layer of fat on the ribcage.

You aren't huge by any standards regardless, and being so voluptuous of course you're going to have trouble fitting into lolita (assuming you meant lolita earlier). You can either try reduce your body fat percentage, or accept the way your body currently is.

31" ribcage at 5'5" reporting in and j-fashion, specifically lolita, still fits me. a lot of newer dresses are very generous on the underbust measurements, and you get the added wiggle room when shirring is included. for other fashions, just get a larger size or two up and have it taken in ( learned that the hard way ). anything chiffon or stretchy is going to be your best friend, and fortunately j-fashion seems to be quite full of that depending on where you're leaning. i unfortunately can't help you with shoes, because being size 10 means you get no cute shoes ever. i'd ask around the taobao thread for some stores that sell larger shoe sizes though. you won't be able to find overly girl shoes, but they're cute enough as a base that you can always add little accessories to them depending on your outfit.

i have no idea what your measurements are, but i'm a literal upside down triangle with mosquito bite tits and man face, so on some level, i feel a quarter of your struggle. hang in there anon, and don't be too hard on yourself.

I have a normal BMI as well, if I dropped weight, my underbust might drop to 31" but I don't have a lot to lose before I start looking unhealthy.

When I look in the mirror, everything is pretty proportional. I tend to build muscle pretty fast and I carry weight pretty evenly so, I never worried that I was some horrible misshapen fatass but I am not a lolita, so I'm not trying to fit into those clothes either. Cosplay-wise, I tend to crossplay or pick younger-looking female characters, not the sexbomb types which has nothing to do with a 32" underbust but more that I don't have big boobs and hips and don't really feel like padding up to the amount that would be required for the right shape.

I don't feel there is anything really in my way save for maybe a handful of racist turds saying I can't cosplay that white character because I'm asian. Even then, I'll still do what I want because I cosplay for me.

There are actually, it's just not a huge difference (i.e., you're big bones won't make the difference between you looking skinny and looking like a block). Some people have slightly larger bones then others, and some people have wider ribcages and wider-set hips which can make them look stockier than they would otherwise. Usually it's not dramatic, and they'll still look relatively thin if they have a low weight, but it does sometimes hinder you if you're going for a really sleek silhouette.

I agree, it's totally worth saving up and buying from a specialized place to get your actual size, don't settle for "almost my size". The rule of thumb is to go up a band size and go down a cup size or vice versa. Bras can hold a specific volume, so if you change one without the other then the volume's going to change too. Think of it as a cup; if you want the cup to be a different size but have the same volume, you need to adjust both of the dimensions at the same time, otherwise you're going to have a cup that either doesn't hold enough liquid, or a cup that holds more than you need. Probably doesn't make sense, but it's the only way I can think to describe it.

The problem with sister sizes, though, is that a lot of department stores use it to the extreme by adding 4 inches to the underbust to keep people within the same general sizing, but as many women know, it ends up being a horrible fit and causes back problems, especially in larger breasted women.

There's an infographic that explains sister sizes, but I don't have it saved.

Right. Obviously their BMI is going to be significantly higher than that of runway or editorial models, but the reason that they can get away with being at those weights and not looking awful is bone structure.

It's not really that the bones are LARGER, which people seem to nitpick about, but people can have larger frames due to their bone structure. A good example of it is why some tiny girls have no "thigh gap", and some slightly chubby girls can still have one.

It's way worse to find shit if you're tall. If you're small you can just get kids clothing at some of the nicer brands, they still look good. Or if you're cheap you can buy zara kids shit, some of it actually looks great and not like the sort of clothing you'd expect as far as kidswear goes. If you're tall you're fucking screwed, you can finally find pants now (it was impossible 10 years ago), but good luck finding a dress. Every dress with a fitted waist ends up looking like it has an empire waist and the lengths always look really wonky. I also have to wear dresses with fitted waists because my measurements are 38-27-41 so if it does not taper in at the waist I just look fat, so I have to buy things that are like 2XL and get them tailored.

I'm 5'8" close to 5'9", I weigh 165,

You might just have a body that likes to hold onto its weight, but how's your eating? Do you drink a lot of soda, do you put a lot of sugar in your coffee?

If you want to be small, keep exercising, and watch your calorie intake. Don't drink your calories. I went down from 130 lbs to 95 lbs by exercising and watching what I eat.

Of course, now's a shitty time to get this advice, what with Thanksgiving coming up. I'm going to eat like a goddamn cow next week and regret it for the week after.

>> No.7949392

>>7949372
I've always been tiny, it's just where my body settles when I eat right and get moderate exercise. Maybe your body naturally settles at a higher weight. You might want to watch that waistline though, it's definitely the worst place for your body to be storing fat.
Also I think if I'd been bigger and insecure in my measurements I wouldn't have posted, so keep that in mind when you read through this thread. It's the same for selfpost threads that make /cgl/ look like it's 99% cuties, there's a degree of self-selection.

WHEN THE FUCK DID A THIRTY INCH UNDERBUST BECOME TOO BIG

I'm around 105 lbs and I've got a 29" underbust. Even at my lowest of 98 lbs I still only went down to a 28" underbust. This is bad?
Right now I've got a 31" bust, 27" waist, a 32" hip. I'm 5'4". I've always felt kind of petite. The only thing I felt insecure about was my shoulders, which are 17 inches across. They aren't that bad, but in proportion to my narrow hips, I thought I looked a bit unbalanced. But "barrel-like"? I never thought that would be something to describe me!

I'm measuring with a Japanese tailor's tape and converting the centimeters to inches. I get 74cm. It's just mind boggling to me that your underbust is that small. At my lightest my waist was 24" and that felt satisfyingly tiny for a waist to me. What must your waist be? 22"?

I have the opposite problem, my ribcage is 24" (bust 30)
I don't know where to get bras or anything, I have some 30 bands but they're too huge... I ordered a 28D once but it was too small. I don't know why because 28 should be plenty roomy on a 24" ribcage... I hate everything

The band was too tight because your boobs were trying to fit into a cup size too small. I'm a 28E and I used to wear 32A - the band felt tight because the wire from the cups were digging into me, yet it would still ride up in the back.

Here's a trick: wear your 28D bra. Pull the center of the bra out - if you can fit your entire hand in there, then the band is too big. Another trick: look in the mirror - is the band riding up? The band should be parallel to the ground and it shouldn't be digging into your skin. Your bra should never be supported by the shoulder straps because the band itself should be carrying most of the support for your breasts.

Your straps should also be sitting comfortably on your shoulder, and even a little off the shoulder. If you have to tighten the straps and have it sitting closer to your neck/collar bone, then the band size is too large.

>> No.7951158

>>7951156
And another. If you measured your underbust correctly, check again to see where the measuring tape is sitting at the back. Notice how it's not parallel to the apex of the bust? That is not where the band is supposed to be. The measuring tape is where the band is supposed to sit.

If you think the "correct" way to wear a bra looks weird because it's sitting so low, you're most likely wearing a band size too large.

Whoops, forgot photo!

As for where to find the bra that fits you, you may have to order them overseas or look at specialty boutique lingerie stores. Check out high-end department stores and talk to the ladies there - if they can't find your size, they'll give you advice on where to look. If they try to sell you a bra that's still too big (aka you fit into a 24 but they try to push a 28), find someone else.

Just noting that Sazaki Kaoruko/Gyanko from Gundam Build Fighters Try is also perfect for tall girls with wider shape. I'd honestly buy from Asos since they have a good returns policy and stock most of the more reasonably priced small-band-large-cup brands like Panache, Mimi Holliday etc. Definitely go for a 28DD-E, maybe F, and also see if you can figure out what bra styles suit your boob shape/spacing the best (check out herroom to see the recommendations for different bra styles...)
