I don't take care of my dresses at all. I throw them on the floor with all my other clothes, treat them roughly and throw them around, smoke while wearing them, drop ash on them, eat messy food while wearing them.

It's not like I'm ever going to sell them to anyone else, so I guess it's not an issue really. But I like to imagine people getting butthurt about me treating some of my more rare/ sought after prints like shit. Gives me a bit of a thrill

I tell people my favorite brand is Innocent World because I got tired of SJWs giving me shit for liking Meta.

I want to slap everyone who says they're afraid to clean their precious burando. Read the damn care label. It's super easy to find a guide to Japanese garment care symbols on the internet. If it's washable, put it in the wash on gentle cycle in it's own garment bag. If it's dry clean only, take it to the cleaners or get a home dry clean kit and do it yourself (also super easy). There's no excuse to have gross, smelly, dirty clothes, especially when you're trying to sell them to others in the community.

I used to keep my wigs just in a box, but then I got a wig standso they're on that now, I got a wide tooth comb recently too, I think my problem was using the wrong brush. Might keep them in boxes again so they dont get dusty or sunbleached from being on a shelf near a window. I generally would recommend to not use a brush at all on wigs unless they're really bad, and you're using a specific wig brush. I also have a wig comb, its a wide tooth metal comb with a wooden handle (completely identical to some dog grooming combs btw) and it seriously just sails right through tangles. Keeping them on stands is good, but if they still get tangly try gently scooping the ends into a wig net and either tying it with a bit of ribbon or something just tightly enough to keep it in place, or pinning it to the base of the stand or the wig's structure itself. You can also try using a wig detangler/conditioner, the cheap method is some laundry softener diluted with water and put in a cheap plastic spray bottle, or buy some specially made. I believe you can also use silicone based smoothing products for human hair (thats coming from some friends who use it in their extensions). No oil in it to mess up the nylon fibers.

I swear to god, I literally just throw it on a shelf with a bunch of other crap carelessly and brush it out when I need it. It's not a fancy curly one though, it just has natural looking waves. I guess I just picked a good wig from Taobao.

For the longest time I didn't even have a wig brush, I just used a normal brush that I had dedicated to that purpose. I just recently picked up a wig brush. Now I just got a fancier wig and I know I won't be able to treat it like that.

If the wig is getting frizzy from handling, you're probably pulling and stretching the fibres. Be more gentle. If you encounter a knot, work it out with your fingers or reduce it to as few strands as you can, then snip it out. If you keep tugging, it'll kill the curls with stretching.

Next, there are heaps of wig tutorials for refreshing a style. It's not too hard. With curls, you just take a section, comb it smooth, wrap it around your fingers like you're doing a pin curl, and drop it.

Most of my brand has alterations and fix-ups that I have done. I take out pleats and straighten them, fix fucked up ruffles, tack things down, redo hems, and reconstruct shitty linings. I don't even mention it when I sell because I do a good job and I don't think someone who not a seamstress would even know the difference.

I have those super nice front loader washer and dryers so I always thrown my brand in and wash on the hand wash cycle and hang dry. I've actually watched a washing cycle and it's way more gentle than if I washed it by hand myself.

This is a spot I stitched up the lining of a dress with lumpy bodice seams because the seams had been ironed open crooked all the way down. The puckering is the only thing that could give it away and that happened because the fabric is thin.

I'm a sailor lolita and I Iook down on almost everyone who dresses sweet. I think they're the ones that caused the stereotype that lolita is an ageplay thing. Classic, Gothic, Kuro/Shiro/Mono, and Sailor are the only styles that look good imo.

My confession is: I am so over 99% of men who are into lolita fashion. (And I don't mean those who are legit trans... that being said, legit meaning no creepy, fetish, or manly-looking shit and making an actual effort on looking like a woman with makeup and wigs.) I am not talking about ouji/ega but the lolita fashion itself. While there may be a few who are genuinely sweet and decent at dressing themselves, the majority are either wrong to the point of looking scary or stuck up drama queens who think it is okay to be a catty bitch through and through because it's a feminine fashion. I feel sick to my stomach seeing how nasty the majority of men are. I really wish there were some comms either online or irl that were No Boys Allowed.

I feel you there. A big part of the reason I love lolita is because it's so feminine. I'm constantly surrounded my men in the workplace and desperately need a break from that. When I went to my first meetup years ago I was looking forward to being surrounded by other frilly girls, talking about girly things and really just being shamelessly girly with other women. But then there was this man there. His lace-topped white socks reached about halfway to his calves and since the dress was way too short for him his gross knobbly knees where constantly in everyone's face. He hadn't shaved his legs properly.
We talked about all sorts of things and he kind of awkwardly followed along. Whenever a more woman-specific subject came up he'd go "eheheheh well I wouldn't know about that..." and eventually started whining at people to change the subject to something he could understand.
Years later he is still dressing exactly the same and is always complaining on the comm's Facebook that he couldn't possibly improve because those stupid meaniehead brands don't make anything to fit him. It's taking every bit of self control I have to not comment telling him that this fashion and community obviously isn't for him and maybe he should look elsewhere.

I've heard legends about nice, decent, pleasant brolitas in foreign comms. There might be a handful of good ones somewhere. But in general? Men, get the fuck out.

I've got two Haenuli JSKs an one Meta skirt but the rest is Bodyline/offbrand. I smoke weed in all my clothing but I'm super careful about ashing on them. I have an extra $125-150 to spend on fixing up my kitchen and living room and I'm seriously debating on blowing it all on lolita.

My bathroom has frustrated me so much, I actually was in tears at work over it. I've had a hard time distancing myself from 'ghetto stereotypes'. My hair is real but people constantly asking to touch it and saying it's a wig or weave pisses me off because such things make my skin crawl.

It's not just that though; the though of applying plastic fakery to yourself to wear a fashion doesn't sit right with me. I like nail art for the technical skill and have crappy short ones but can't bring myself to wear fake nails/lashes. I only wear foundation to cover my horrible acne scars.

But hell no to wigs. If I have a bad hair day, I'll put it up or just wear a hood all day.. A full bonnet might also be good for those lacking volume up top. I don't like the notion that wigless lolis aren't trying hard enough. The girls posted in the ita threads would often look nicer if they simply let their hair out/down.

I'm with you on not liking wigs. I feel like just throwing on a wig is less respectable since you don't make as much effort as styling your natural hair. Sure, anybody can throw on a long wig and call it a day, but I think that the dedication it takes for me to grow my hair, treat it right so it's not damaged, dye it, and curl it overnight in rollers before arranging it into a hairdo for half an hour is more worthy of respect than simply wearing a wig. I agree that people who take the time to style their hair every time shouldn't be looked down on for using their natural hair. At the same time, I think natural hair gets a bad rap just because so many newbies or itas don't know how to style their hair or don't care, and it just looks messy or frizzy instead of suitable for the fashion.

I wear wigs just because lolita isn't a full time thing for me, and my out-of-fashion look is drastically different (I'm guilty of an edgy hair cut, sue me, I love my stupid asymmetrical hair). I don't have an interest in maintaining the kind of hair that's acceptable in lolita, so it's wigs for me, but I think it's impressive when girls put that extra effort into successfully (key word) completing the look with their own hair.

I hate seeing unflattering cuts on cute girls. It's as though most of the newer girls can't or don't know how to dress for their body type (some old ones aren't great either, but I digress).
