Replying to your psot in the old thread. Thank you, I'm glad you liked it!

And yes I can do your wardrobe as well if you have under 20 main pieces, anything more than that gets a big unmanageable. I do have several to get through first so it'll take a few weeks probably but if you give me decent sized images of what you have I can add it to my folder of wardrobes.

This is such a long shot but I am having so much trouble remembering both the name and brand of an OP I love. I can't even find a damned picture of its.
It quite popular and a casual classic piece.
It's about calf length and it is all one colour (sax blue).
It has short puffy (?) sleeves and I think possibly a white yoke or white peter pan collar.
Might be Victorian Maiden or IW?
Can anyone help me out I will be eternally grateful <33

I have a question about pic related. The girl here is wearing this as is, but since it's a jsk ("albino accord jsk"), doesn't it need a blouse underneath? I get that it has little sleeves but they don't seem to cover enough for lolita.

>>7887547
(hope I don't fuck up the whole quoting from another thread thing)
I have the purple one and it's awesome, but mine came with a slight defect (weird small spot of red velvet/thread with a stray thread sewn at a random place on the print fabric) which I didn't expect for that mid-range price. It has lone micro glitters all over it, but very sparse so it's not tacky at all. The sleeve/overskirt fabric is very soft. The bow I got was a bit crooked but nothing unfixable.

Not sure if this is better for the help thread, but...How do you guys protect/care for your nice socks/tights (if you do)? I've definitely seen a few people say they try not to wear matching socks too often for fear of ruining them, and others who rarely wear tights for the same reason. The furthest I've gone is wearing socks under my tights so they don't get rubbed by my calluses, but that doesn't protect them from rubbing against shoes...however I'd feel weird with socks over tights as well, plus they'd be visible

>> No.7889144

I wear my brand socks pretty frequently, but I always wash them in a bag and air dry to preserve the elasticity. As for avoiding holes, I don't do anything special for socks, but for tights I wear those "no show" socks over them to protect the toes from rubbing.

after abstaining from all sales websites for two months, i come back and realise my one-absolute-dream-dress in second-dream colourway had expired on lacemarket. however, the seller was not the first owner and she put a BIN at 80 dollars above the original retail price. i feel like it's worth at most $50 below the retail price since it's probably been worn and stained by a few different people. should i even bother bargaining it down? 80+50=130 which is a lot to bargain off...also it's from one of the least popular brands, but there's also the possibility that she paid a high mark-up from the previous seller, so i really dont know how to approach this. and it's only my second-dream colourway...

I bought this on impulse the other day because I'm a sucker for border prints. Unfortunately, I don't know if there's actually anything I can do with it since it's kind of short and doesn't really fit the silhouette.

Would it be ita or tacky to try and pull of a look something more like Putumayo's stuff? I know their skirts and dresses always run kind of short but are often paired with lolita blouses and accessories.

The picture doesn't do it justice. It doesn't lay nearly that flat IRL. I kind of want to sew some nice lace on the bottom of it, or at least some sort of ruffle to make it slightly less obviously from Hot Topic.

i thought the dress demaned a more classy almost ballgown kinda co-ord to go with it but thats just my opinion.
- simple shoes with silver printed stockings, should be easy enough to buy a generic pair and paint em yourself if you cant find any decent ones
- short choker/necklet with navy stones, filligree or twisted wire might help compliment the silver detailing in the dress
-bracelets with fine layered chains to hang over top of wrist cuffs and add a little more interest.

hope this helps.

I could do that if I was paying like $500 per plane ticket, but international tickets are like near 2K. Once travel is paid for there is hardly anything left :(

He's not super well off at the moment, he's doing a paid engineering internship, so I would feel bad asking him to buy me lolita things. But, I'm in my final year of college, so hopefully once I get a full time job you guys will see me posting WTBs for all the things I missed!

Long distance relationships don't work.

Here's what you need to do. Figure out what that relationship is. Are you seriously going to be together once his schooling or your schooling is over?

I've done this shit twice and in both cases it never worked out. First dude was super immature and would say things like he wanted me to move in etc and i was immature enough to believe it. He got a better job in his state, I got a better job in my state, no fucking way were we going to uproot ourselves to go somewhere else.

Second one we were super into eachother but he had fuck all for a job and i was not ready to support someone living in my place. Yeah you get caught up in the romantic things and sending eachother letters and care packages and traveling to one another is fun and exciting, but since that person is not in your life every day you barely think about the real issues and your future.

Unless the plan is that you go live over there, or he lives over where you are AND you've talked about it, there is absolutely zero fucking chance of things EVER working out.

Go spend your money on lolita.

I definitely understand your warnings. Before I met him I was staunchly against long distance relationships, so I get it.

But we're very serious and we've talked about this a lot. The plan is for me to move there after I've graduated, and for us to get married.

I agree that our relationship would be doomed if we hadn't discussed when our LDR would end, but we have, at length. We're both older (25, 26) and we're definitely in this for the long haul.

Dont invest everything int his relatinoship. It is great that you are seeing him, but you shouldnt be going broke over visits here. Put you first, you should be able to enjoy your life and while I dont know if lolita is a good thing to buy anyways, you should at least make sure you feel that you didnt miss out on things for a boy.

If he is doing a paid internship, he has income. So he should be doing some of that traveling too, or helping you fund it.

We agreed to alternate on paying for trips, but I think it might be a better idea to split tickets half and half for each trip, I think that will make it easier. I'll still be paying the same amount in the long run but maybe that will help me in the short term.

>Put you first, you should be able to enjoy your life and while I dont know if lolita is a good thing to buy anyways, you should at least make sure you feel that you didnt miss out on things for a boy.

Alright so if you have that kind of plan set up you should feel comfortable easing up on spending so much money. It's really easy to have that conversation. "I don't think I can afford spending so much on seeing you, care packages, and my own things on a regular basis". TBH guys don't really give a shit about care packages and that is expendable income you can spend on yourself.

See him every few months, save some money for your future wedding or home, spend that care package money on lolita. You don't need to give up your interests and identity because you're into some dude across the sea.

I was going off of that very same picture for inspiration, I love it! It's one of my favorite ads ever- even if the original coord is a little flawed.

Switched out the RHS for generic strappy shoes, got a different blouse(still with princess sleeves) and a much less gaudy witch hat as well. I think the blouse in the ad is the Wizard Gauze blouse or something, but the fabric is a lot like the torn, gauzy bits on the side frill. It looked a little too costume-y. Didn't want to go exact because the ad did seem like it was all over the place.

I am curious though, do people still wear RHS? Or is it something usually just old school nowadays? To be honest, I kind of miss them.

My relationship is eerily similar - I met my fiance while he was studying abroad. We spent nearly two years long distance, and now we've lived together a year in my country and will move to his once we're married.
What we did was splitting half-and-half for plane tickets - we saw each other every four times in the two years we spent apart. I don't know how far you two are, but he was halfway around the world, so basically all my money from my part-time job went to visiting him. I was ok with it, though, because before that I didn't even have a job, so I was used to having minimal spending money. But make sure you're practicing self-care, which may mean treating yourself sometimes and having to wait another month to see each other.
Also, care packages are fun, but letters are just as good and much cheaper to send. I think they tend to be more romantic too!

All that said, it can definitely work, my relationship is proof. Good luck anon!
