I'm new to Sjweden, how bad exactly is Stockholm's MCM/Gamex? I intend to go as kotori but worried itll be as bad as things like london's MCM now.

It's a first year con which first released any info whatsoever a little less than a month ago, expecting 30k attendants from a country where the bigger cons are a few thousands at average with sleeping halls and tickets maxing at 400 sek as the norm go figure.

Gamex has been good so far. Mostly if you think about that it's only one girl that is planing it. I'm a bit worried about the WCS tryouts since it probably going to stir up drama like every competition does in Sweden.

It's poorly run mostly, the crowds/venue do not work together making it extremely uncomfortable to be in.
The general expo is very disappointing, the panels were boring and staff really didn't give a shite, for the price youre much better off going to a smaller scale expo/con.

The only thing really putting me off this con is the fact its MCM, but I might just be bitter thanks to my London experience.

Cant wait to see what the WCS tryouts will be like.

I'm just really tired of the behind the scenes dramu and the fact that all of my friends that I used to go with has either gotten really annoying or have also quit the con scene.
I have more j-fashion friends that dislike cons anyway.

I stopped going to cons a couple of years ago, and it's honestly one of the best choices I've ever made. The behind the scenes drama is all over the place, and there are so many people thinking they're still hot shit even though most people don't know who they are except "that dude that was on the stage on con x and y, he/she was pretty funny I guess".

I still have a lot of friends that are con-goers and even organizers, but damn so many of them are incredibly arrogant.

I miss when I was young and more naive, I guess I got my dick in too deep and, as you can see, got tired of all the bullshit. It's just no fun any more.

However I'd love to go to a con in a different country just for the experience.

Well I mean the swedish cons seem pretty calm in general, though I've only been funkis and guest once or twice so maybe the drama is higher up. I know there's always a lot of talk about judges being biased which makes sense considering how hard it is to not know people.

If you are funkis without any ties to any of the organizers or the "hot shot" groups, or just a casual visitor the drama is easy to fly over your head.

There is a LOT of drama, but I won't deny it's pretty well handled so it won't be noticeable for the visitors or some of the workers. But otherwise it's all over the place, and most of it surrounds people that let their imagined "convention fame" get to their heads.

You sound like someone that really missed out on when konvents-eliten was active among other things, which you should be happy about.

I won't deny that it has gotten slightly better on some part, while the others just never fucking learn.

Man, I remember when I was young and naive and wasn't involved with the behind the scenes drama. To be fair I'm not exactly involved anymore, but holy hell back in 2012 when UppCon quit I was in the thick of it.
Man, I'm glad that I got out of the arranger-scene last year. Too much petty dramu and people with huge heads thinking they're hot shit just because they "arrange" a tiny part of NärCon.

I've only been involved with selling at cons and that lets you stay clear of much of the drama I think(especially since I was only helping out with the selling, wasn't even my company)
Haven't really heard much from others about drama either though to be fair

Considering getting a one day ticket for Confusion this year just to see what they do with the new venue and do some shopping

But since the dresses are AP it might be ok. Thin Naddine is doing the makeup since she is a MUA and Melva seems to be handling the wigs with DreamHolic. These is the only reason I think at least the clothes, wigs and make up will be good.

I asked a friend who have been somewhat involved with it all. She contacted the main guy for the event and later on Melva.

The answer they got that the meeting on Friday was not with all the models only a few. There will be some models from Finland and Norway as well. And the girl who has the final say in the models are a girl named Mayumi, one of the organizers.

Melva has only offered suggestions and the final decision on all the models that are made by Mayumi has yet been decided, just a few.

From what they said on the event and other places it really sounded like they chose the models already. But we also riled up each other due to lack of information

the whole event seems really unorganized, so I would expect something like this to be quite unorganized as well

It's easy to tell that she meant well, but I wish she would have left more details so it wouldn't have ended up in this huge misunderstanding. But if she was confused or didn't have enough information it's understandable if her posts left out a few things to interpret.

It's fine to know a bit more about her side now though. The event itself shows a lot of promise in my opinion, it has a lot of things to offer that I've wanted to see in Swedish conventions for a really long time that isn't just a huge kid's party. I just wish it wasn't so expensive.
