Oh dear GOD that is bad. Ahiru's ahoge doesn't stuck out like a god damn unicorn and did that girl ever hear of a leotard!? Ballet dancers wear leotards, not a shitty corset thing or whatever the hell she's wearing.

The tutu looks... just barely ok. It has some poofiness to it but in general tutus tend to be a bit stiffer than what she is wearing while still having that puffy look (I'm not a ballet dancer but I've seen tutus before... apologies on the crap description here).

That... mutated thing on her back I think is supposed to be the bow that Ahiru has on the back of her outfit.

And the arm cuffs are completely different sizes, or they look that way to me. And are those actual feathers in the wig? Good god. She has white parts in her hair yes, but they aren't actual feathers... are they? I haven't watched Princess Tutu in god knows how long so I can't remember.

I'm not an expert on ballet either, but I think the white part in her hair might be one of the headpieces you see in some ballet performances (like Swan Lake for example) because it does look more feathery than how the character's hair is otherwise drawn. On top of it, the hair even seems to be sticking up from it.

I always thought the feather headpieces on Ahiru's head were based off Swan Lake costumes (which always has feather headpieces, because swans) because she's the ugly duckling that never gets to be a swan unless she transforms, and the story has the identites swapped around as well (the princess, who is the prince's true love, is the black swan instead of the white swan)

To be totally fair ahiru/tutu cosplays are notoriously difficult to get right even if the cosplayer is a balletfag so I guess I give her credit for trying, but on the other hand I know her and she just has no objective perspective on herself or her abilities, no one ever has to heart to tell her that she is only cut out for church choirs and her sewing ability has not gotten any better in the many years she has been cosplaying. She looks pretty good when someone else is styling/dressing her and photographing her with any skill, but she clearly is unable to style her own hair or wigs or do her own makeup. The only reason she's the leader of the LI Lolitas group is no one else cares or has the time/resources to put into leading it.

Naw, to be really completely fair, ballet fags don't learn how to make their own costumes, only how to dance. So the real thing is outsourced to a pro and is pretty pricey. I think that's why it's rare for a balletfag to try this cosplay: it doesn't come cheap, wearing pointe shoes on the con floor is a terrible idea and if word gets out the cosplayer is a balletfag and still fails this cosplay they'll get really bad comments.


I normally don't really mind if cosplayers take liberties with this costume, or any ballerina characters. Just, this one is so bad I had to stop and lol at it.

the thing is that every single one of them has signature colors,outfit,personality/etc and if I saw Sailor venus, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter and Tuxedo mask alone we wouldn't be able to associate them to anybody. They'd be more casual convention attendees than cosplayers.

As to Chibiusa and.. SailorMoon!chibiusa they could've done better, we'd recognise them but not worth a picture.

Despite her having a short sailor scout skirt she's a reserved type of person so anything revealing is a no.

It hurted to not see her in any type of heels and seeing the "punk" context she could easily pull off a sukeban-inspired outfit. She's traditional, she cares about her culture it just shows how much they tried about accuracy.

I absolutely agree with the feminine touch because as much as she's the "tomboy" (until Haruka tagged along, but she'd probably be a classy gentlemen instead) she'd totally wear a skirt trying to break her rough appearence. Also, jackets are a big no-no imo.

Even if she's wearing heels why the fuck are they red? I'm pretty sure she wouldn't reveal her breasts like that.If she had to choose inbetween revealing breasts or legs, her skirt would definately be shorter. In either case, she represents feminity, womanhood, girl power/etc. You'd be hungry to see more but she'd never let you sneek a peak, she knows she's good looking and she'd never miss a chance to wear something at least decent. She's in perfect control of herself and the cosplayer is showing the opposite. Also, curled hair: no.

They didn't even try, he looks like any metrosexual asian guy around. And again, if they cared about the character and want to punk-it-out he'd be a suit-n-tie type of yakuza, the one you really don't want to mess with.

She would never expose her stomach and from what I could see, she tends to wear long sleeved shirts or anything that looks comfortable and not squeezed in, and if it has to- it's either high waist skirts or shorts. It's all about being cozy. Her socks are longer than her shoes, rarely wears boots.

She literally looks up to usagi and wants to be her in some ways, her outfit would be slightly more daring and would look a little clumsy but definately would wear anything as cozy/poofy.
