I got a quick question for you folks here. I normally browse /k/ but since I go to my fair share of anime cons I was wondering about what other colors I should use on my prop gun.

Mostly I was wondering what colors would look good on the dark, olive drab pieces to fit the white, or if I should change it completely.

It's meant to be acceptable at AX, so I have to make it 50% some bright ass colors, hence the white, but I'm open to other suggestions, be it camo schemes or just general color patterns.

Thanks in advance.

Oh and follow-up question, I've been to AX with a prop weapon so I know their policies, but I was wondering how stringent Sakura Con is with their policies, and if this would pass muster.

The trigger doesn't work, and the main spring is removed, so it can't cock and load a pellet. I believe it to be rendered effectively non-functional, but their staff was really unhelpful when I asked for clarification on the matter.

What cosplay are you using it for? That would have more to do with color than anything.
For the most part cons require 'weapons' to be peace bonded, and what that has meant for me is it's zip tied to the holster so it's really more a part of the outfit.
Also, has someone told you the whole thing had to be bright? Generally just the tip of the barrel needs to be orange or something, I haven't heard of the whole piece needing to be some wack color.
I could just be hella inexperienced with larger cons, but if you make it clear to the security guys that you're square, you should be fine.
Out of everyone at the con, someone who is actually concerned about how their plastic pea shooter looks, is generally going to be better received.

Oh, right, it's for an Operator Reisen thing, sorta like this.

And I'd like to believe you on the tip thing, but when me and my pal went to AX we had to jump through hoops and more to get just my airsoft gun in, and that was after covering it in copious amounts of bright pink and blue tape and gluing all functioning parts stuck. Not to mention having his gun denied because it had a metal body.

See, the problem here, my friend, is that it's airshit.
Do what every other con goer does and get a nerf gun, grind off the words with a dremel, and paint it like it's a service rifle with exaggerated weathering or shine.
For your purposes, I recommend a longstrike.
It would also double nicely as a las rifle if you ever do an Imperial Guard cosplay.
Yes it's cheesy, yes it's not like anything realistic, but any security guy is going to know exactly what it is the moment he sees it.
This is, of course, if you would rather deal with the hassle of more prep than with dealing with a potential issue with security.

On another note:
If I was failed police officer and had to babysit grown ass adults playing dress up, I think I'd hassle people too, just to feel alive again.

Wasn't security guards who gave us shit, hell, the LAPD guys who were there thought we were pretty neat even with my fake-ass M14, it was the uppity peacebonding people. Though I'll admit there was one chill lady who was the main reason I got my thing through with a ziptie.

Yeah, Nerf is an alternative, but I don't really want to go that route, since I'd also need to figure out how to get a sling attached to that thing anyways. I purposefully go out of my way to buy cheap airshit guns so I can remove the innards and make it safe. Like, jesus, if someone brings in a real gun the cops are gonna know it, the desk people are gonna know it.

not really
LACC has plenty of holes
I used said holes just so I wouldn't have to deal with retarded feel good bag checks that do nothing but slow you down

Different state, different laws. People bitch about CA cons and their fake guns rules because state law is where that bright safety colors thing comes from. You'll have to check with sakura con for their policy and what WA state law says.

Shh, I have a terrible secret fetish for the L85.

>>7855829
Well, I live in WA and I know our gun and airsoft laws, but the con rules are stupidly vague, only saying like 'cannot be functioning' or something really stringent like 'cannot have ever functioned'. When I emailed their staff about it they only said the same thing and then ignored me.

I as just hoping someone who's been there could gimme some info on it.

Ooooh, right, the peace bonding people. The people that have absolutely no idea what a real gun even looks like.
In that case, it's pretty much set that no matter what you do you'll either have good luck or bad luck dealing with those people.

In that case, use what you got like you've already decided, as for the colors, just make sure it's got the orange tip so it's in line with actual law, and exaggerate the appearance of the rifle so you can tell it's meant for a cosplay and not for use as a club.

Googled this, it seems legit, and could give you some ideas from the show.
Better yet you could make it pink. Paint a bunny on the grip.
I actually really like this idea not that I've typed it.
You should paint like a super kawaii bunny on it, with an adorable stern look on it's face and bullets held in it's mouth with an ammo belt over it's shoulder.
Refer to pic related for all further questions.

I thought you were asking for color choices.

Oh, leaving it as is and only having an orange tip is what makes me happy, but I gotta make do.

My previous idea was to get a digicam stencil and make it some bright ass color camo-scheme.

>>7855849
That was what I was asking originally, but it sort of... shifted gears. I do want color schemes and the like, just need them to be CA compatible, so painfully bright.

For example, pic related is what I had to do this year to get it accepted.

Sakura con's policy, to my understanding, is no airsoft guns, disarmed or otherwise. If you removed the entire inner workings, that might do the trick, and at the same time they probably don't check to hard past "Does it shoot?"
