I just saw this, Okageo is selling his Griffith cosplay for 700$-1000$ with an additional 140$ in import charges, excluding shipping.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Griffith-Cosplay-from-Berserk-/181543725503?

Like, damn, that is some really nice armor and I don't think it's too too expensive for what he's offering but good luck with finding a buyer.

Wasn't sure what to call the thread but just a general is this worth the price?

That's actually dirt cheap for that kind of costume. Most fully armored cosplay sets of that quality go for way more than that. Just look at how badly God Save The Queen rips people off for costumes of the same type. She'd charge like 3 grand for the same thing. He must not be charging for labor, only breaking even on materials.

A reasonable price for armor that had a lot of sweat and human juices dripping in it at one point.
People really need to get over scalping their used shit just because they feel they put effort into it.

I think we agreed on around 750 but the girl flaked out halfway through and I never got the rest of the payment. So it's just kinda half-done and sitting around because I dunno what to do with the materials. Main reason why I stopped doing commissions, because I literally have two tubs of half finished costumes people never paid me for.

I quite like his Griffith (Berserk that isn't godawful is good in my book) but I'm not sure I'd want to buy a set like that second hand because of sweat and general wear.

I'd also refuse to fund his new habit of doing awful yaoi cosplays and pandering to the idiotic part of his userbase. Actually unfollowed him recently because he hasn't posted a new decent craft focused costume in months.

Is this a jelly party or what? Jesus Christ. For once there is a male cosplayer who has amazing skills and isn't a diva, who looks awesome both in photos and IRL. Himself and his work.

He even put a fair price on his armor. Go to rage to your mum if you can't afford a cheap armor. Or DO YOUR OWN SHIT and do it better. Try to look better than him too.

Hating on him because you people are poor as shit won't make him down the price. Besides if the armor is so shitty, why are you mad that you can't buy it? Seriously CGL? SERIOUSLY?

I make people pay all the materials if they want me to make costumes for them. If they don't pay, I keep the materials for myself. So I get free fabrics and stuff and can make my own things for zero money. I win, regardless of the result.

No one is upset 'cause they "can't" buy the armor though? They're saying they wouldn't buy it, there's a difference.
I don't know who he is so I can't speak of his craftsmanship skills in detail, but he's definitely not amazing from what I've seen in this thread. Also his face is unfortunate as fuck, and definitely not good looking or handsome.

Reminds me of this chick. Popped up on my feed awhile ago and I was like it didn't even cost you that much to MAKE the costume AND it's been worn.

It's also bullshit to not even include half the accessories to try and make it worth the price.

>> No.7853940

>>7853044
Foolish prices? You're paying for a her studio and hours of skilled labor. 3k for a Ashe's wedding dress is fair.

It's one thing to not afford the price but I think her quote was fair.

>> No.7854552

>>7853002
That's not unreasonable to me at all. GSTQ is basically "designer-label" cosplay commissions. If you don't want to pay designer prices, don't fucking go to her. That's like saying "I want a Vera Wang wedding dress, but I only want to pay $500 for it." Not gonna happen, bitch. You gotta go off-brand, like to some unknown commissioner no one ever has or ever will have heard of.

>> No.7854874

>>7853121
I dont think anyone is /butthurt/ per say. Some people just cant see dropping 3k+ for a hobby, which is understandable. Its not that she doesnt product 3k worth of quality, but rather that not everyone has that kind of expendable income for something they might wear twice a year. I think a lot of people forget shes not just someone who works on commissions during down time; its her full time job, and she has employees and a proper studio to work in.

>> No.7854936

>>7854874
But that's the thing, though - she only does so many commissions per year anyway, so she's more than willing to take on the projects commissioned by people who are willing to pay her prices. If you ask her for a quote and QQ because you have moths in your pockets, it's no skin off her back. It's stupid for people upthread to act like she's too big for her britches when she and her team are professionals. They're not a bunch of basic bitch cosplayers who have never done professional level sewing in their lives, who don't know how to make things the right way and just wing it on every single costume they make.

>> No.7855210

If she meant a silk satin, that would be very expensive indeed. But there's no reason to not use polyester matte satin for just a costume.

The thing about GSTQ is her first quote to you is going to be using prices for the best of the best fabrics. She won't use cheap stuff unless you ask her to. She makes her stuff to last and hold up to heavy inspection.

Jesus, this board is full of teenagers and poorfags. Do any of you have income beyond student loans, fast food, or retail? 700 bucks for that armor is a bargain, and you don't really have to worry about sweat on armor, because the inside can be wiped down.

You guys pay hundreds for ugly dresses simply because of the designer tag on the inside. This is actual craftsmanship.
