7847361 No.7847361 [Reply] [Original]

Old thread >>7838618 has been autosaging for a bit.

>> No.7847461

Just thought I'd say for anyone who has trouble with scuff marks that I've had trouble with scuffs on my white shoes. I tried surgical alcohol, Son of a Gun, and magic erasers and none of them were effective. I bought some nail polish remover pads, though, and they really did the job.

>> No.7847491

Can someone familiar with IW explain what the difference between high waist and just waist is? I can't really tell from photos but is just waist supposed to be their version of low waist?

>> No.7847493

>>7847461
Less than a week or so ago someone posted their scuffed red shoes and repaired them beautifully with red nail polish. Someone else in the thread suggested it to them, and I was pretty skeptical but pics don't lie.

>> No.7847543

Does anyone know how much the baby tea party necklaces go for? I ended up getting both haha

>> No.7847824

>>7847619
Actually, applied right, acrylic paint should work just fine for small areas. The paint needs to be dry brushed on, in thin layers and only on the scuff, not the undamaged material. After enough layers to make the paint opaque, a clear sealant can be applied to the area, again just on the damaged area.

I can provide pics if wanted but it's a pair of cosplay shoes.

I absolutely hate the new cookie print from AP. It's so plain and boring. The art is cute but the design/execution? Ugh.

>> No.7847932

>>7847864
I'm not a fan either. And I usually love their food prints.

>> No.7847941

>>7847932
Same. The new chocolate print is also ugly, IMO. The bags are so cute but the rucksack jsks? No. Hell, the only new releases I even liked from AP this year were CDC and Cosmic. Wrapping ribbon was basic as hell, loyal rosette was okay but overrated imo, and the brigitte one or whatever? Fucking hideous. What the fuck, AP.

>> No.7847953

>>7847619
In a pinch I'll use fabric paint. Usually tulip soft brushable paint or jaquards textile paint. At least those you can blend for a color match. Angelus leather paint is my go too for painting shoes. It's blendable and can be applied with an airbrush or sponge brush. Also I found you can mix it with fabric paint like the jaquards or tulip soft.

>acrylic paint is water based

Acrylic paint is acrylic. It's plastic. Once it dries, water will not wash it off. What kind of shit paints have you been using?

No, regular waist is bottom of the ribcage, highwaist is about 2in from the bust and empire is right under the bust.

>> No.7848324

No worries, it's sort of confusing tbh. I also see a lot of newbies who try to wear skirts at their hips and it doesn't work at all.

>> No.7848328

>>7848314
I've been painting with acrylics for years, they are not water soluble once they're dry. If you let acrylics dry on a brush, it's fucked. You might be able to scrape it off of smooth surfaces, but no amount of soaking will ever remove it.

It dries into a layer of plastic. Once the initial water evaporates out of it, it's no longer soluble in water.

>>7848318
Acrylics are also the same price if not cheaper than nail polish, and the container is bigger.

You will be fine anon. I'm 5'8 and love Innocent World blouses.

>> No.7848346

>>7848328
Anon, only certain kinds of acrylics aren't water solvable when dried, like gouache.

Another thing that you aren't considering is that the shoes don't have the same fibres as paper, so the acrylic won't stick on as well.

I've been painting clothing with plain craft acrylics for my sister's sports team for some time, and they even hold up through the wash machine. Like other anon said, gouache is watercolor, which is very much soluble. Pls stop talking, you really don't know what you're talking about.

As far as the material of the shoes goes, that doesn't matter much, as acrylics can stick to damn near anything if treated right. A small scuff would be very easy to fix with decent acrylics, expecially if you treat the area with a little bit of acetone first.

Unethical business practices for a start. But also:

>The modelling contests
At least two contestants have spoken up about being treated like potential mail order brides. The first (Nadia) deleted all of her comments on EGL about the subject (implication being that she feared legal action after telling the truth). Another girl was told she would be reimbursed for her travel costs since she had another trip already planned to go to Japan. In the end, she was not after she refused Mr. Yan's overtures. There were also apparently emails where he demanded she pay for her hotel and food during the trip.

>Venus Angelic situation
He had her travel alone at 16 (which is stupid of her mother as well) and basically overworked her. This resulted in insults being flung back and forth by both parties for several months, including a public statement on the Bodyline page to the effect of "Venus Angelic is stinky and fat".

>The design contests
Entries that did not "win" were still later used for designs, with no recompense for the designers. Only after numerous complaints did Bodyline say "Oh, if we used your design and didn't pay you, please tell us. We're sorry! We didn't notice."

>Mr. Yan's creeptastic self in general
In addition to the wife hunt contests, he also held the "Mr. Yan is Furious" sale or whatever it was, after being rejected by one of the models he'd been pursuing. The store also started as a fetish costume shop and lingerie store. Lolita was only added later as it gained popularity (which is why early Bodyline quality is so shit).

They said in a comment that someone tried to make a fraudulent claim (so I assume they ordered a load of lolita and filed a chargeback), so then I'm assuming the claim went in RococoDaze's favour but they never got their money back? Kinda doesn't make sense because the money tends to get frozen so doesn't go to either party, without screenshots I'm not sure.

PP is a bunch of dicks about amounts over $1000 even in business accounts. So who knows what happened. I've had my account frozen before because I went away for a weekend, and people paid in roughly $1500 during that period, which I didn't get to withdraw in chunks like I normally do. PP froze the funds until I could provide proof of identity and address, which took almost a week to clear, during which I couldn't even mark parcels as "shipped" or add tracking numbers to the transactions.

I wish like hell there were an alternative option, but a lot of lolitas will not buy from a storefront that doesn't have PayPal.

I've heard of Stripe, yes. I've also looked at WePay, Google Wallet, and I think it was Intuit? Intosomething. Intu. Dunno.

Either way, I did a poll with my Facebook page to see how many people would be open to alternative payment methods to PayPal and the majority of responses were split between "absolutely not" and "only if I don't need to make a new account," which doesn't help since it negates the whole "protection" aspect of PP that people seem to want to begin with.

I got my Albino Accord jsk in the mail the other day, I love it but... it's too short. It goes halfway up my thigh.

My friend (I know you are going to read this) keep on insisting that it's salvageable with an underskirt, but I really don't see how it wouldn't look like a disaster with the design on the end of the dress (and I'm also quite stubborn about it). So we are really disagreeing on this one.

What are your opinions cgl?

>> No.7857728

>>7857717

I'm more worried that your model photo shows a skirt that's just a tad too narrow, that shape just looks so bad.

And to answer your actual question, if you can remove the tassel braid, then I could see it working with an underskirt in a complimentary or matching colour (like, either a colour that matches the main fabric colour exactly, or a gold that matches the braids would look nice).

>> No.7857735

>>7857728

I don't really know if I want to remove the tassels, I don't want to lower the possible resell value (even though I don't really like them myself).

Thank you for your reply though, I hope to get more opinions on this. Since I am pretty stubborn about my opinions sometimes I like to ask other people about it before I throw in the towel so I am absolutely not doing it out of spite

I just have a really hard time picturing how an underskirt would work with the tassels, but maybe it's my imagination that is a bit messy

Seconding this. If their parents are letting them wear some weird fashion that goes against their religion (they're supposed to be conservative by covering up AND not wearing anything too gaudy) then I doubt they are enforcing the hijabs. I dont find them ugly, but I get irritated by them. I feel like they are just trying to get attention and asking for asspats by putting their religion so prominently on display. Im fine with people picking and choosing aspects of their religion, but not to such extremes. Like "oh Ill only half follow the conservative dress rule because I want to wear something that goes against my religion". You either dress conservatively or you dont, and they most certainly aren't.

Pants and skirts just don't go very well together.
I like seeing Muslim girls in hipster fashions though. They usually look quite chic.

I'd like to see a Muslim girl attempt mori-girl or dolly-kei. The idea of wearing layers, earthy tones (or jeweled), and natural fibers work pretty well with a headcover.

>>7858132
Pretty much. I can see what you mean considering when people wear something like this when a majority of society doesn't. It makes sense in an Islamic dominated world, but not so much in a Judeo-Christian one (or otherwise).

>I feel like they are just trying to get attention and asking for asspats by putting their religion so prominently on display.

Honestly, that's what conservative dress in the muslim religion is, showing off your devout level. And like you said, in the non muslim world it's basically useless. All it really does here is inform people you are muslim and confuse idiots who think that hijabs and conservative dress are all male enforced patriarchy bs. I mean, people don't even realize someone can even be muslim without the hijab.

>> No.7858474

>>7858453
Just to clarify, I NEVER said that a hijab is useless in a non muslim world. The entire point of the conservative dressing is to be conservative. I have no problem with people doing this, whether it is with a jilbab or jeans and a long shirt. I just get so annoyed by people who do this with a gaudy and non conservative fashion like lolita. If you are going in anything remotely OTT you are ignoring the dress rules, so why wear the hijab? They dont seem to care about dressing conservatively, they just want to stand out as a minority. I respect people who follow their religion, but those who insult it in this way I do not.

>> No.7858476

And by lolita being non conservative, I mean this in an ornamental sense. It is conservative towards showing skin, but is heavily detailed and expensive which is also against the muslim religion.

They told me that it's the only they could ship and that post rates are that high even though I know they aren't because I live in the same fucking country. Two days later they announced that they now offer cheaper shipping inside Germany, because they seem to now finally be able to use the postal system right.

Not every taobao agent requires you to buy in bulk. I'm p sure taobaotrends doesn't have a minimum requirement, for example

I thought about buying from MLD, too, but they don't offer SAL shipping, so I couldnt really justify paying their inflated prices + EMS shipping because when I calculated it it was more than buying the item with an agent.

But I guess it does depend on what the item is, so maybe try doing the math and see what things come out to.

As a seller they're not so bad, they're basically just another qutieland or loli loli paradise, so I cant imagine you'll get ripped of completely or anything
